OBEDIENCESIT

It is never too early to begin teaching basic obedience, such tricks as sit/stay, while dad reaches for a treat.

The basic sit is taught by pressing against the back of puppy's hind legs, while lifting gently on the lead.
Do not let someone tell you to place pressure on their rump. Anyone
checking bone or muscle for any reason, such as possible injuries, is going to appreciate it if junior remains on his feet. To set a dog properly for inspection can be as valuable to your Vet as it is to a show judge.
SitPay attentionThis is a good sit position for obedience, except that neither dog is on lead.
For deaf Patches, we use a very clear signal.
Sit/stay on a plankwhile dad goes for a camera. It doesn't have to be monotonous, or work. Simply add a trick or two.
Left touch begins this simple sit and lift a paw. Now add a sitting dog, or a plank.
Of course the touch signaloften ends in shake.
Or we can throw in a left cross, to spice it up a little.
Sit/head down becomes
shame.

One for all
Go team.
Sit can be fun after all.
