Scott Stapp & Fred Durst Feud
Alright so what happened? Basically the way I see it - Fred Durst is this attention-seeking, low-life vocalist. He couldn't handle the success of Creed, and for some reason feels the word f*ck is necessary in every sentence otherwise you are 'boring' (as he called Creed). So he attacked Creed unjustifiably.
I used to think Limp Bizkit weren't all that bad - but Durst just showed his immaturity not only as a musician but as a person when he messed with Creed. What he did was pretty uncalled for.
It is true that Scott Stapp challenged Fred Durst to a charity boxing match, and he didn't accept. What can I say? Pretty much spells out the real Durst. All bark and no bite.
Eminem has also had a squabble with Limp Bizkit - he wrote a diss song on them. It's called Girls, and you can see the lyrics and here it at the following link. (warning - explicit lyrics). He he, I've got a new found respect for Eminem. I also have the video of Fred Durst trying to diss out Scott Stapp

Here is Scott Stapp's (unedited) side of the story.
Wow! What a week. I think alot of you have finally got a peak at all the negativity we have been dealing with the last 4 years. I really feel that through all this, a bond is developing between the band and it's fans. We are fighting the fights together now, when in the past, the band and I felt so alone. To be honest with you, the whole Limp Bizkit thing caught me totally off guard. I have never met Fred or anyone else in the band, so when I heard about what he said I was blown away. I don't think I have ever been within 100 yards of the guy. Here's my rendition of how the day went. I got to the show about 4:00 I think. I had a couple hours to kill before interviews started, so I called home to check on Jagger.(he told me to come home now, and he loved me)After that I turned on ESPN to catch some highlights on SPORTSCENTER. During SPORTSCENTER, my agent came in and told me that Limp Bizkit was refusing to go on at there scheduled time because it wasn't dark yet, and they didn't feel that they should be playing infront of the bands that were after them. I told my booking agent(Ken@the agency)to go tell them that we would go on in there place if it would help them out, and they could close the show. So he split to go try and get the problem resolved.(I didn't say that because I'm the nicest guy on the planet. I said it because we all had the same set time, and we were 2 day's from being home.To be honest, I just wanted to get the show done) At about 6:00 my road manager Aaron came to the bus to tell me it was time to do my interviews. So I quickly put on my diamond studded jacket and silver glove, just kidding, I had a baseball cap on, and a v-neck white shirt, and shorts. Anyway, I met up with Mark and we started the interviews. The first one was with MTV2, the second was with VH1, and the third was with K-Rock. On my way to the K-Rock tent, I signed some autographs and spoke with some fans by the fence. Sometime in the middle of this, Limp Bizkit went on, an hour and a half late. My interview with K-Rock was with Cane(VH1-the rock show). It went pretty well, and his final question was about Limp Bizkit. I said I thought they wrote good songs and were a good band. That was pretty much my final comment. I got up and started back to my bus, when Cane ran over and asked if I just heard what Fred said about me on stage. I said no, and he said he just dissed you pretty hard, "Do you want me to edit out the nice stuff you said about Limp?" I said no, "I'm not about negativity. I ment what I said so leave it." I must admit I was a little confused. I had no idea why he would say anything about me. I didn't even know he new my name. When I got back on the bus, my agent came on and asked if I knew what was going on. I told him what I heard, then he went on to share that Fred was throwing all the microphones into the audience so none of the other bands would have mics to perform with. I asked what he thought Fred's problem was, asked if they recovered the mics, then went back to watching TV. About twenty minutes later my buddy Wayne Chrebet(New York Jets) showed up so we just hung out and talked. Mark came in a few minutes later and we all started talking, trying to figure out what Fred's problem was. It wasn't a real serious conversation, we were joking around, when Mark picked up this book and jokingly said we should send this to Fred. It was an anger management workbook. It belonged to one of our bodyguards, so we asked him if he cared and he said no. We wrote a few words on it pretending to sound seriuos, like, "this will help you on your emotional and spiritual quest" or something stupid like that, trying to be funny, and sent it over to Fred. We thought he would laugh about it, which he probably did, and it would break the ice so he would come talk to us. Well, he never came, and as you know decided to say a few choice words about me today. I honestly can't give you one reason why he said what he did. Like I said before, we have never met, and I think we have only played one other show together. Now that I think about it, maybe he thought I made those comments about Pearl Jam. If he thought that, then I could see why he called me an egomaniac. I don't know though, I really have no clue. He has said a few negative things about us in the past, so I guess he just doesn't like us for some reason. Maybe he thought his band should have headlined, and he should have been doing all those interviews, not me. Anyway, I have nothing much to say about him. I don't even know him. It's hard enough trying to handle my own business. I really can't waste my time with a guy who appears to be everything he said I was. I just thought you all would be interested in what went on that day. I thank all of you for defending me. I think the best way to handle this situation is with respect and class. We know the truth and that's all that matters. I think Fred just wanted some attention. He got it, so let's just move on. Sorry about the spelling, it's late. Thanks for caring and thanks for your time. Talk to you soon..scott
