Mystery of the Counterfeit Space-Cabby
Writer: Otto Binder
Penciller: Gil Kane
Inker: Bernard Sachs
Synopsis: Space Cabby tells the Interplanetary Police about a fare who had given him counterfeit money and fled. When he returns to his cab, he finds someone in the driver's seat, who turns out to be a copy of himself, who insists that he's the real Space Cabby. The one who emerged from the police station takes charge, labeling himself "A" and the other one "B." "B" then declares that this situation must have occurred when Space Cabby had followed the counterfeiter back to his hideout and the counterfeiter showed him his machine for making duplicates of money, after which the counterfeiter attacked him by surprise and knocked him out. "A" then realizes that the counterfeiter must have duplicated him, a suspicion confirmed by a note from the counterfeiter that they soon discover. Soon, a fare comes, but they fight over who should drive and he takes a different cab. When they go home, they find that they can't both live in a living space made for one. They agree to go to the counterfeiter's hideout to rectify the situation and, luckily, find that he had left something behind. They wait for him to return and secretly follow him to his new hideout, where they gang up on him and capture him. They then use the counterfeiter's equipment on themselves, revealing that "A," who vanishes, had been the impostor. "B" then realizes that he should have noticed the fact that "A" was not a duplicate of him, but a mirror image - he was left-handed, whereas Space Cabby was right-handed. After delivering the counterfeiter to the police, Space Cabby complains of loneliness, missing his double.
