The Pea-Pod Planet

Writer: Otto Binder

Penciller: Gil Kane

Inker: Bernard Sachs

Synopsis: Space Cabby receives word from the Interplanetary police that the something has happened to the sun and that it will explode within 24 hours without the help of one Professor Xitt Xott from Sirius. They send Space Cabby a picture of Professor Xott and tell him that he is the closest cabby to Sirius, and that he should pick him up. Space Cabby speeds to Sirius and lands, where he sees someone who looks like Professor Xott as soon as he lands. He soon discovers, however, that everyone on the planet looks the same. Space Cabby makes a spectacle of himself in order to draw a large crowd, one of whom, he reasons, would know where Professor Xott lives. One Sirian comes forward and identifies himself as Professor Xott, but once they are in space, he reveals himself to be a thief, tricking Space Cabby in order to make a getaway. Space Cabby, in turn, tricks him by returning him to Sirius, which the thief didn't recognize from space, and delivering him to the local police, who help him find the real Professor Xott. After Professor Xott returns the sun to normal, he asks Space Cabby how Earthmen are able to tell one another apart - a question Space Cabby himself was going to ask the Professor.
