Synopsis: On Neptune, Space Cabby picks up Professor Anton, a well-known inventor, who wishes to go to the Earth patent office with his new invention. When Space Cabby asks what it is, the professor tells him that he can't say, but it will prove its worth by the end of their trip. Space Cabby gets lost in thought, and before he knows it, he's in the middle of a meteor swarm. A small meteor hits his fuel tank, and he asks the professor if the invention will help, but the professor says it won't, so Space Cabby goes out and ropes a meteor, using its momentum to drag them to get close to a fuel station. Later, the cab loses its antenna, leaving them lost for lack of radar guidance, but the invention is no help for this problem either, so Space Cabby decides to land on a meteor, find a piece of lodestone and mount it like a compass on his cab, so that it will point to the nearest mass of iron, which would be the core of Earth. Some time later, they find themselves caught in a cosmic aurora, which would burn them. The invention still can't help with that either, so Space Cabby makes a tube lead to the exterior of the cab and sprays the cab with his emergency water supply, coating the cab with ice. They then pass through the aurora, which eats through the protective layer of ice, but doesn't penetrate the cab. They see Earth near them, and Space Cabby asks the professor how he managed to stay so calm despite the constant danger. Professor Anton replies that they were never in any danger. He explains that his invention is a futurescope, and that they were seeing events that will happen, but were actually still on Neptune. Space Cabby then starts on their true journey, telling the professor that if he had to experience the dangers twice, he'd better receive double fare.
