1. Is Theta Phi Alpha a National Sorority?
Yes, we are a member of the National Panhellenic Conference and we currently have 40, active chapters and 4 colonies.
2. Are there any other sororities at Kean?
Yes, there is a list of them on the University Website.
3. Is it expensive to join a sorority?
Since we do not have a house, our dues are considerably less than other chapters who must cover various expenses that come with maintaining a house. we offer a payment plan to assist sisters in their financial obligations to the fraternity.
4. Why is Theta Phi Alpha a fraternity and not a sorority?
Technically, we are a women's fraternity. This is because the word "Sorority" was not commonly used when we were founded in 1912. Many NPC sororities are actually women's fraternities.
5. Do you Haze? Will I be humiliated and/or have to do anything dangerous or embarassing if I decide to pledge?
No! Theta Phi Alpha has very strict anti-hazing policy. Your time as a pledge sister should be enjoyable and spent learning about yourself, the sorority, and your new sisters.
