1963 THUNDERBIRD SPORTS ROADSTER

October 27, 2004 update:
The engine and tranny are out of the car and at respective rebuild shops
The engine is at Midwest Engine Rebuilders and the tranny is in the
capable hands of Jim Martindale.
Both have rebuilt numerous units for me in the past.
As you can see in the pictures, the complete interior is gutted
right down to the firewall.
Both previously poorly repaired quarters have been removed and will be replaced
with the rust free donors pictured. The rest of the car is solid with
the exception of the battery tray area which had also been previously
poorly repaired. I will remove that section as well and do a proper replacement.
Before I put the car on the rotisserie and remove the suspension components
and rear end, I'll sandblast inside the quarter areas, hang the doors
back on and fit the new quarters. I've seen too many cars that have been
"restored" and the doors stick out so much they look more like wings.
That won't be the case on this roadster.
