1963 THUNDERBIRD SPORTS ROADSTER
Complete Rotisserie Restoration
in progress now
August 19, 2005
A few days ago a friend stopped by to check the progress.
He had his teenage daughter with him.
When she saw the car she said "Is that the same car?"
and went on to say "The last time I saw it it was dead!"
I think it was sometime early last winter when it was stripped and
on the rotiserie.
The car is essentially done now. The only thing left to do is
to install the door panels when I get them back. I talked to Doug at
Specialists and he said I should get them back next week.
I restored the trim on the sides of the front seats, I had to
remove the dents and dings and refinish them. The Dash Ribbed Aluminum
is also refinished. The new front and rear seat covers are
installed. As you can see in the pictures, the trunk interior is
done, the jack is stowed where it belongs, and the 48 spoke Kelsey Hayes
wire wheel spare is in place.
The engine is dressed in it's proper decals except one is missing yet on the
left side of the air cleaner. It'll be here soon too.
The radiator has been flushed and flow and pressure tested by Oakland Radiator
here in Duluth.
I have consigned the car to the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction
in Scottsdale Arizona for the January 14-22, 2006 Auction.
It will be selling at "NO RESERVE". I will be getting a lot number
assigned sometime in September, and when I get it I will list it on the
final update for this car. I also consigned my 1964 Amphicar to
the Barrett Jackson Auction.
