We see Aeka as a young girl playing in a field of flowers on the planet Jurai. She is making a "crown" of flowers when we see a young man call out her name. She runs to him, for the man is none other than Yousho. She happily places the crown of flowers on his head, then she looks solemn and says, "One day I will be your bride, won't I Yousho?" He says yes, and she places a purple flower known as a Royal teardrop on his head since it matched the color of his eyes. Yousho looks saddened and tells Aeka that such a flower should never be used for happy occasions. There is a flash of light, and the scene changes to a malicious looking Ryouko attacking the world of Jurai. Yousho runs off to fight Ryouko, and Aeka tries to follow but is unable. Aeka looks desperately for Yousho, and spies him from afar. When she gets closer, however, it turns out to be Tenchi who is holding Yousho's sword. He tells her that Yousho is dead, and it is then that Aeka awakens from her nightmare...
It is early morning at the Masaki residence, and Aeka opens her window only to see Ryouko walking on the lake. Aeka is disgusted at looking at Ryouko and shuts the blind. Meanwhile, Ryouko goes below the lake's surface and searches through the wreckage of what was once her ship. She finds what she is looking for, and picks up what appears to be a black orb from within the ship's wreckage.
Inside the house, Sasami is trying her hardest to get Aeka to come out of their room. It turns out Aeka has not stepped out of the room they were given by the Masaki family since they had arrived, which was about a week ago. Sasami then puts on one of her cute acts and convinces Aeka to go downstairs and at least thank Tenchi and his family for their hospitality. As they are coming down the stairs, Aeka sees Ryouko on the couch. Ryouko teases Aeka, and Aeka almost goes back to her room but Sasami pulls her along. Sasami asks Ryouko is she's seen Tenchi, but Tenchi is out at the moment. Sasami sees the black orb sitting on Ryouko's lap and asks Ryouko what it is. Ryouko says that it is an egg, then Sasami asks Ryouko if it is hers. Meanwhile, Tenchi walks into the room, and an embarrassed Aeka quickly thanks Tenchi for the hospitality shown towards her and Sasami. Meanwhile, Sasami is playing with the orb and asks Ryouko if the egg is hers and who the father was. Ryouko says that the egg belongs to her, and getting a mischievous smile, tells Sasami that Tenchi is the father. Aeka is shocked at hearing this, but Tenchi obviously did not hear Ryouko's comment and wonders what is bothering Aeka. Aeka, thinking that Tenchi is Ryouko's boyfriend, becomes cold to him, but then the egg hatches, and out comes a cute animal resembling a cross between a rabbit and a cat. Ryouko says that the animal's name is Ryo-ohki, and Tenchi makes the connection between that name and the name of Ryouko's ship. Ryouko says that since her ship was destroyed, it reproduced itself, and thus the animal before them was the new Ryo-ohki. She goes on to tease Aeka about how gullible she was to think that the egg was hers and Tenchi's, and an embarrassed Aeka runs out the room.
Meanwhile, Sasami quickly befriends the cute little creature, and the two of them play until Ryo-ohki suddenly stops, then runs out towards the window. Sasami asks Ryo-ohki what's the matter, and the cabbit meows at a certain direction. Sasami notices that Ryo-ohki is referring to Aeka standing by the lake with a sad expression on her face. Ryo-ohki then goes through the window (the creature shares Ryouko's ability to go through objects) and hops to Aeka. She (Ryo-ohki is a female creature) notices Aeka's saddened expression and tries to rub against her leg to comfort her. Aeka is startled, then notices that it is only Ryo-ohki. Since Ryo-ohki is Ryouko's spaceship, Aeka does not want her around, so she tells Ryo-ohki to leave her alone. Ryo-ohki won't leave, so Aeka then tells Ryo-ohki to stay where she is while Aeka leaves. However, the creature continues to follow Aeka. Aeka then turns on the creature again, and Ryo-ohki hops into some grass. Aeka is about to continue walking when she notices that Ryo-ohki had hid behind a Royal Teardrop, the same flower she gave to Yousho a long time ago! Picking up the flower, she is saddened by past memories which begin to flood her, but Ryo-ohki brings her another flower. Aeka is touched by the creatures offer, and she accepts the gift while Ryo-ohki rest in her lap.
Back at the house, Ryouko is looking through Aeka's room for the sword, but Sasami walks in. Ryouko teleports out just in time, and Sasami wonders where everyone is. Meanwhile, Aeka is sitting in the grass with Ryo-ohki and telling Ryo-ohki about her problems. She becomes very comfortable around the creature. Ryo-ohki suddenly perks up and runs into the woods. Aeka becomes worried that Ryo-ohki will become lost and runs after her. Aeka looks around calling Ryo-ohki's name when she hears what appears to be a swordfight. She walks in that direction and looks through some branches to see Tenchi practicing swordfighting with his grandfather. Aeka then notices that one of the patterns they perform is exactly like that of the nobles of Jurai practice. Aeka is about to call out to them when she slips from the branches and sprains her ankle in the fall. Tenchi and his grandfather rush to the sound, and seeing Aeka on the ground, hurry to assist her. It turns out that Aeka can not walk on her own. While they are bandaging her injured ankle, Aeka begins to ask Tenchi's grandfather about the sword technique they were performing, but Tenchi's grandfather turns to Tenchi and tells him to carry Aeka back to the house. Aeka is worried that she may have said something to offend Tenchi's grandfather, but he simply states that he needs to go back to the shrine. Tenchi begins to get shy around Aeka but begins his task of carrying her on his back back to the house.
Soon it begins to rain, the Tenchi and Aeka are forced to take shelter in a shed. Tenchi lights a fire for Aeka to warm herself with. Aeka begins to relax around Tenchi and they begin to talk about what is bothering Aeka. Tenchi begins to cheer Aeka up, and he also makes the observation that since Yousho is his ancestor and Aeka's half-brother, he and Aeka were also related in a way. Tenchi and Aeka are seen to become better friends, and Ryo-ohki also shows up at the shed. Ryo-ohki is looking around and spies a basket of carrots and meows at Tenchi to give her a carrot. Tenchi gives Ryo-ohki a carrot and marvels at how much the creature loves carrots. This amuses both Aeka and Tenchi. Soon the rain stops, and Tenchi offers Aeka his hand, and then proceeds to carry her once again back home. Meanwhile back at the house Ryouko continues to look for the sword. She then asks Sasami where Aeka keeps Tenchi's sword, and Sasami tells her that Aeka carries it with her wherever she goes (doh!).
As Tenchi carries Aeka back to the house, he points out various places. Aeka notices a huge tree, and Tenchi says that it is the Tree of Masaki Shrine where wonder stories hang from. He asks if Aeka would be interested in seeing it, to which Aeka says yes. They walk to the tree, and Aeka says that there is no doubt that this tree is Funaho. Funaho is Yousho's ship. It is a Tree of Jurai which is the heart of a Juraian ship. A similar tree was in Aeka's own Ryu-oh. Aeka then begins to access the memory stored within Funaho using the Master Key, Tenchi's sword. A graphic history stored within the tree then begins to show that Yousho had indeed followed Ryouko to Earth, defeated her, and imprisoned her in the cave. Aeka is now filled with hope that her brother is indeed still alive on Earth since Funaho is still alive. She returns Tenchi's sword and apologizes for all the times she had been cold to him. She also asks him to be her and Sasami's protectors while they search for their brother Yousho. Then Sasami arrives with Ryo-ohki. She was out looking for them with Ryouko when Ryo-ohki led them back. Ryouko then arrives, and seeing Tenchi with the sword, congratulates him on "retaking" the sword from Aeka. Aeka corrects her by saying that she gave Tenchi back her sword. Ryouko notices that she and Tenchi were mocking her, and she leaves them while saying how ingrateful they were when she had come out to help them. Tenchi and Aeka are surprised that Ryouko had wanted to help them. Aeka then begins to lead Tenchi home. Thus Tenchi is becoming better friends with the girls who are staying with him.
