Out in the wreckage, Ryouko sits crying upon the roots of the Ryu-oh. Seeing Ryo-ohki drifting nearby, she teleports in its direction. On board Ryo-ohki, everything is quiet as both Aeka and Mihoshi are still in shock over what had just happened. They are both surprised when Ryouko appears, Aeka asks Ryouko what she is doing and why she did not return earlier to prevent what just happened. Ryouko simply states that she intends to go into close combat with Kagato and kill him for what he did to Tenchi. Aeka immediately objects, saying that the first thing that they should do is find Tenchi and help him, especially since everything Tenchi did was to help Ryouko. Ryouko brushes off Aeka's retort and tosses Tenchi's bloodied headband at her. Aeka begins to say something, but then she notices that the blood soaked cloth Ryouko threw at her was the headband Tenchi wore. She immediately fears the worst, and her eyes start to shimmer. Ryouko meanwhile has gotten in her full battle suit. Ryouko shares her plan to destroy Kagato. She may get killed, but she will have her revenge. With a battle cry, she rams Ryo-ohki into the Souja.
Meanwhile, back on the Earth, Sasami, who had been left behind, is seen crying as she runs towards the tree Funaho. As she is running she keeps saying, "Please, Tenchi, don't die". Arriving at Funaho, Sasami chants some words and a glowing symbol appears upon Funaho. Sasami then sends her spirit into Funaho.
Aeka, Ryouko, and Mihoshi are now inside of the Souja. There are three paths before them, and Ryouko states that all paths will lead to Kagato. Each one of the girls takes a different path, and each proves to be a force to be reckoned with as they make their way past Kagato's automated defenses. Ryouko simply blasts the robotic guardians, while Aeka employs a force punch to clear a path ahead of her. Mihoshi simply stumbles through the corridor, firing random shots that for some reason always hits the mark. In the meantime, Kagato waits inside the main hall of the Souja, and to pass the time he begins to play on his pipe organ.
The scene shifts to outside the Souja. Out in space, Tenchi's upper body (his body below his chest was lost when the Ryu-oh was destroyed), is shielded by Azaka and Kamidake, Aeka's two guardians. An apparition in the form of a woman then appears outside the guardian's force field. The apparition looks at Tenchi and caresses his face, then she merges with him. A bright light surrounds Tenchi and the guardians, and when it disappears, they are no longer there.
Back on the Souja, both Ryouko and Aeka reach the end of their respective passages. Suddenly, a passageway opens before them, and the girls who normally compete for Tenchi's love walked side-by-side to face their hated common foe. As Aeka and Ryouko enter the passageway, Mihoshi arrives at the end of her tunnel and calls out to both Aeka and Ryouko to wait for her. As she tries to run after them, she drops her control cube, a device that can manipulate events by twisting it like a Rubic's cube. As the control cube strikes the ground, it lands in a way that causes Mihoshi to enter a parallel subspace side of the Souja. Not knowing that she was no longer in the same plane as Aeka and Ryouko, she passes through a passageway similar to the one Aeka and Ryouko had passed through in the real subspace side.
Aeka and Ryouko make their way to Kagato's main chambers while Mihoshi makes similar progress on the other side. Aeka and Ryouko arrive in the main hall, and Kagato is there playing his organ. He then rises to greet his visitors. Ryouko tells Aeka to stand back, but upon seeing the person who had killed Tenchi, Aeka loses her self-control and uses her force punch attack to destroy Kagato. However, Kagato had his main hall shielded from all outside power, and since the Royal Family of Jurai derives their power from the royal trees like Funaho and Ryu-oh, Aeka's attack, which even Kagato acknowledges would have killed him, caused no damage upon Kagato. Kagato then counterattacks, and his attack knocks Aeka unconscious. However, while he was distracted by Aeka's charge, Ryouko succeeded in getting behind Kagato. She then thrusts her energy sword through Kagato's throat. Kagato suddenly disappears, and then a hand reaches out and grabs Ryouko by the throat. Kagato merely smiles as Ryouko struggles to get free from his grip. The image Ryouko had attacked was merely an illusion of Kagato. Kagato remarks on how Ryouko has lost her edge in battle, and he begins to turn her to stone, then drops her unceremoniously on the ground. Turning toward the unconscious Aeka, he begins to probe through her mind in search of the secrets of Tsunami, Jurai's most powerful ship.
On the mirror side, Mihoshi has reached the equivalent of Kagato's main
chamber. Not finding Aeka or Ryouko, she reasons that probably Kagato had
already finished the two of them off, and that would mean she is the only one left. The thought
angers her, and she plans to kill Kagato herself to avenge the deaths of her friends. As she
continues to explore the empty room, two stone snakes set up to be guardians become animated
and begin to attack Mihoshi. Mihoshi succeeds in temporarily stopping the snakes by freezing them
with ice particles fired from her fingers. However, the snakes are quickly breaking
through the icy captivity Mihoshi had put them in, and in desperation Mihoshi takes her
control cube and begins to turn it in many different directions. While her actions have no effect
on the snakes, they do have an effect on a figure encased in crystal as they crystal holding the
figure captive begins to crack. The snakes succeed in breaking free of Mihoshi's ice, and they begin their
strike on Mihoshi. Mihoshi can't stand to watch the horrifying scene of the snakes racing towards her,
and she turns her head while expecting the worse. After noticing that she is still alive, she turns in the
direction of the snakes only to find that they were frozen in their tracks just inches from Mihoshi. Mihoshi then
lets out a sigh of relief. The figure that Mihoshi had recently released from the crystal then steps into
view and thanks Mihoshi for setting her free. Then, with a wave of her hand, she destroys the two snakes
that had been threatening Mihoshi. The figure, who looks a lot like Ryouko except that she was shorter and had red
hair as opposed to Ryouko's silver, then voices her annoyance at having been held in the crystal by Kagato for
the past 700 years. Before an astonished Mihoshi, she then teleports Ryouko to their mirror side of the Souja and
turns her back from stone to flesh. The figure then begins to mutter another annoyance at Kagato for trying to destroy
Ryouko while she inspects Ryouko. She notices that Ryouko's body is sagging in various places which angers
Ryouko. Ryouko picks up the short stranger and tells her that her body is not sagging and that it has remained the same
for the past 700 years. Ryouko then asks who the stranger was that she should make such remarks about Ryouko's
body. Ryouko was caught completely by surprise when the figure introduced herself as Ryouko's mother. Ryouko could not
believe that the person in front of her, who looked to be no more than twelve, was her mother, and Ryouko started to become irritated
with the person. The stranger simply stated that it was she that created Ryouko, Ryo-ohki, and the Souja, but since
Ryouko was created from the young person's ova, Ryouko was more like a daughter to the stranger than another creation. Mihoshi
then remarks that the stranger wore the old uniform of the Science Academy and asks the stranger if she was a student. The young figure
is annoyed by being thought of as a student and introduces herself as Washu, the most brilliant scientist in the universe who
was also Kagato's professor. Ryouko still doesn't care who this person really is since her mind is still preoccupied with
getting back at Kagato. Washu then asks if Ryouko was doing this for Tenchi. Ryouko becomes angry and, pointing her energy sword
at Washu, demands to know what Washu knows of Tenchi. Washu then replies that she knows everything...how Ryouko feels about Tenchi, and what she would like
to do with Tenchi...since, being Ryouko's "mother", their minds are linked. Mihoshi then tells Ryouko not to point her weapon at
Washu since she was not the enemy. Ryouko then turns away and begins to leave to continue her fight with Kagato. Before she leaves,
Washu requests that for once if Ryouko would refer to her as "mom", but Ryouko ignores this request phases back to the other side to
continue her battle with Kagato. Seeing Ryouko leave, Mihoshi tries to follow her in order to help. However, Washu explains that
they are stuck on the mirror side of the Souja since people and objects can only pass one way from the real side to the mirror side.
The image of Ryouko that they were talking to was in fact Ryouko's astral body. Her real body was still on the other side. However, Washu's
explanations, no matter how detailed, still leaves Mihoshi confused.
Back on the real side, Aeka wakes up to find that she is surrounded in darkness. Suddenly Yousho appears before her, but this Yousho appears to be the one when he was younger. Yousho then begins to ask Aeka about Tsunami. Aeka realizes that this is not the real Yousho and refuses to answer. Then, her body starts to come apart as Kagato, in the guise of Yousho, threatens that he will do what it takes to find out information about Tsunami. Aeka grows terrified and screams out Tenchi's name. A bright flash occurs, and the Aeka snaps out of Kagato's trance. Kagato remarks that Tsunami must be helping the princess, and he begins to advance on Aeka when Ryouko appears and stabs her energy sword through Kagato's arm...
Tenchi awakens to find himself inside a large dimly lit room. The parts of his body that were lost in the explosion are covered in a bright glow. In the center is a tree that looks similar to Funaho and Ryu-oh. In front of this tree stands a beautiful young woman who introduces herself as Tsunami. She then tells Tenchi that they are inside of herself which confuses Tenchi. However, he makes the connection that Tsunami is actually the ship they are in, and like Ryo-ohki, Tsunami can assume another form. Tenchi then begins to worry about the others and asks Tsunami where they are. An image of the Souja appears, and Tsunami says that she can sense Ryu-oh's key (Aeka's tiara) inside Kagato's ship. Tenchi tells Tsunami that he needs to be there to help them, and he asks Tsunami to take him to them. Tsunami explains that she is unable to accompany him when he does face Kagato, and Tenchi says that he understands. As the picture focuses on Tsunami, we notice that her reflection on the floor is that of...Sasami!
On the mirror side, Washu is busy explaining to Mihoshi why they can not go to the real side until Kagato is destroyed. Even with diagrams and charts, Mihoshi still doesn't understand. After a while, she finally understands that they are stuck on the mirror side, and she asks Washu what they could do since Washu was the one who designed the Souja. Washu replies that the reason why she can't do anything at the moment is because she designed the Souja so perfectly. She does tell Mihoshi that they can observe what is happening on the real side, and she reveals an image of Ryouko, Aeka, and Kagato engaged in battle. Washu takes out a fan and gives one to Mihoshi, and Washu begins to lead cheers for Ryouko.
On the real side of the ship, the fight is not going well for Aeka and Ryouko. The two girls try to
coordinate their attacks with little success. Aeka creates one of her confinement fields around Kagato while
Ryouko causes a stone pillar to fall on him. However, Kagato manages to emerge unscathed from the combined attack
and slams Ryouko against the fallen pillar. He then tries to run Ryouko through with his sword, but Ryouko is able
to phase into the stone before the point of the blade hits her. Aeka then sends a blast at Kagato while he is distracted,
but the arch-villain merely brushes it off and sends an energy bolt at Aeka which knocks her to the floor.
Ryouko then reappears as a giant stone colossus and, holding Kagato in her grip, intends to crush the life out
of him. Kagato breaks through her grip and sends her flying against a wall. Washu has been observing the battle and
wonders why Ryouko is not fighting at her full strength. Then, seeing Ryouko rescue Aeka from the falling debris from
her colossus guise, Washu realizes that Ryouko is concerned about Aeka and that if Ryouko were to use her full power, Aeka
would die from the resulting energy discharge. She then takes Mihoshi's control cube and brings the weakened Aeka to the mirror
side of the ship so Kagato could not get at her. Kagato then appears in an astral projection in front of Washu and
tells her that her action is futile since he had made modifications to the Souja's design during her
confinement. Kagato now has the power to control all crystals, including those attached to Ryouko. He demonstrates
this by beginning to drain energy from Ryouko, and Kagato announces that with this power he will destroy the Earth
as part of an experiment of his unless someone tells him the secret of Tsunami. Kagato does not give them
much time to answer, and he fires upon the Earth. Aeka begins to panic as Sasami and Yousho are on the Earth.
However, the beam does not reach the Earth as something absorbs the beam. The Souja is then fired upon by an unseen enemy despite the defenses Kagato has established. Soon the attacker reveals itself as a vessel which is shielded by seven Light Hawk Wings. Aeka recognizes the ship as Jurai's most powerful ship, Tsunami. Seeing that he is no match for Tsunami, Kagato tries to drain even more energy from Ryouko, but his hand is slashed off. Looking at the direction of his attacker reveals that it was Tenchi who is dressed in traditional Juraian battle armor. Kagato looks amused at seeing the boy again, and he is even more amused when Tenchi tries to take a step toward Kagato but realizes his foot is caught in mid-teleport! Aeka's guardians Azaka and Kamidake then teleport in to help Tenchi, but they prove ineffective against Kagato. However, they distract Kagato long enough for Tenchi to free his leg and attack Kagato. Kagato is able to more than handle Tenchi. Kagato then realizes that the Tenchi's sword, the Tenchiken, is able to control Juraian ships, and thus he begins to use the energy of the gems, which are similar to those on Ryouko, embedded in Tenchi's sword against Tsunami. Tenchi realizes that Kagato is using Tenchi's weapon against his allies, and he begins to despair at having let Tsunami down.
However, Tenchi then remembers a conversation he had with Tsunami before boarding
Kagato's ship. Tenchi had said that he with the Tenchiken, he can defeat
Kagato. Tsunami then corrects him by telling him not to rely on the sword alone.
Touching his forehead with hers, Tsunami then tells Tenchi that the power he needs
to defeat Kagato is not found in the Tenchiken but in Tenchi himself. Thus, remembering Tsunami's encouraging words, Tenchi approaches Kagato with renewed
determination. Kagato is surprised that Tenchi still has the energy to fight, but it
didn't matter since Tenchi would still die. Tenchi then stands before Kagato and tosses
the Tenchiken aside, saying that he had been relying too heavily on it. Kagato
doesn't care since now he can finish off Tenchi that much quicker. Ryouko, who has been
drained of so much energy that she can barely stand, pleads with Kagato to spare Tenchi's
life. Kagato merely looks at her and tells her not to worry since both she and Aeka would
be joining Tenchi in death. Kagato then sends a tremendous energy blast at Tenchi, and the
explosion engulfs Tenchi. Kagato then turns to finish Ryouko off when he notices that
as the smoke from the previous explosion clears, Tenchi is still alive. Not only that, but
he is generating Light Hawk Wings to protect himself. Kagato had sealed his main chamber
from outside energy, so Tenchi's energy could not be coming from Tsunami. Kagato then
realizes that Tenchi himself was creating the Light Hawk Wings, something only a Juraian
ship was previously capable of. Kagato then takes his sword in order to finish Tenchi off with
his own hands. Tenchi's Light Hawk Wings then converted his Juraian armor into the Ultra Juraian
Armor, and one blade of the Light Hawk Wings Tenchi transforms into a sword. After parrying
a few blows from Kagato, both Tenchi and Kagato charge at each other, each making a single
powerful swing.
At the end of their swing, the view goes to Tenchi as Kagato's slash has no effect against Tenchi's Light Hawk Wing armor. Kagato, also holding his pose after the slash, turns slowly and realizes that Tenchi and the Tenchiken have the same name. He quietly compliments Tenchi on his victory, and then he dies.
With the death of Kagato, everyone that was on the mirror side is able to return to the real side. Both Aeka and Mihoshi looks at Tenchi dreamily, and they both start running toward him. However, Ryouko trips both of them, saying that she will be the first to give Tenchi a hug. Turning around, she is shocked to see Ryo-ohki, back in cabbit form, snuggling against Tenchi's shoulder. Ryouko grabs Ryo-ohki and tells her that she is supposed to be the first one to be near Tenchi. Turning toward Tenchi she finds Washu introducing herself to Tenchi and asking him if he would like to be a guinea pig for her experiments (what a great pick-up line). Ryouko then grabs Washu, and calling Washu "mom, she begins to give Washu a piece of her mind. Ryouko then hears Sasami crying against Tenchi, and soon the rest of the girls have surrounded Tenchi and exclaiming how good it was that he is alive and with them again. Ryouko grows extremely jealous and yells at everyone to be quiet. At that moment, the Souja begins to crack, and Washu observes that Tenchi's slash against Kagato had succeeded in cutting the ship in half as well! Everyone begins to panic, but they manage to escape from the Souja before it explodes.
Some time later at the Masaki residence, a mailman drops off mail by inserting the mail into a slot in a wooden post. The gateposts then turn around, revealing themselves to be Azaka and Kamidake, who have taken up station as gateposts for the Masaki residence. Azaka and Kamidake thank the mailman for delivering the mail, but the mailman just runs off screaming. Azaka and Kamidake are confused by the mailman's actions. Then, explosions are heard just before breakfast is heard as Aeka and Ryouko can be heard arguing once again while everyone else is trying to calm them down. Azaka comments how how it seems likes its going to be another good day, and Kamidake adds that it seems like it's going to be another peaceful day on planet Earth.
