Have you ever wondered where the people got the idea for the items in Tenchi Muyo? Well, in this section, I will try to help some of the newcomers and veterans alike to understand what each item does in regard to the story and when it was first seen it the OAV! I will also discuss the many worlds and places that make Tenchi Muyo such a great video to see.
Items and artifacts from Tenchi Muyo!The Master Key is the ancient sword from the Planet Jurai. The sword can be used to summon the power of Jurai's "most powerful ship" Tsunami. The current holder of the Master Key is Tenchi Masaki. He obtained the sword in The Prison Cave that Ryoko was held in when he was snooping around. It was previously held by Yousho, the grandfather of Tenchi, when he chased Ryoko the Space Pirate from Jurai to Earth. During this battle Yousho used the Master Key to take Ryoko's Power Gems away. This was the source of all of Ryoko's powers. It is one of the reasons why she probably acts hostile when Tenchi is holding the Master Key. The Master Key will only work with people who are of the lineage of the Royal Family of Jurai.
The power gems have a unique story behind them. During the days that the Space Pirate Ryoko terrorized Jurai and the many other colonies, she used her powers to cause havoc to many people. The source of her power comes from the power gems on her wrists. When Ryoko fought Tenchi at the school that he goes to, she loses one of her power gems. This happens when the Master Key that was hidden away in Tenchi's bag begins to get a mind of its own. The Master Key is able to cut one of Ryoko's arm and destroys the power gem on that arm. This is the reason why Ryoko keeps on bugging Tenchi about giving her one the three power gems embedded in the Master Key.
The Control Cube are used by the Galaxy Police. It is seen first from Detective Mihoshi. When used correctly, it is suppose to help the detective in his or her daily endeavors. Unfortunately, Mihoshi is not the brightest person in the world. This is apparent when she loses here Control Cube in Kagato's ship and is sent into the reversed world.
Ryo-Oh is the spaceship that Aeka came on in search of her brother Yousho. While searching, Ryo-Oh's detects Ryoko who is on the most wanted criminal lists on Jurai. Aeka has not forgotten what the Space Pirate Ryoko has done to her planet and decide to arrest her. When descending to Earth, Ryoko gets on her ship Ryo-Oki and the two go to space to battle. On the down side, both ships go down. The seeds comes in when Tsunami gives it to Tenchi when he is on the ship Tsunami. He is instructed to give it to Aeka and he does. The seed is the one hope that Aeka and Sasami have to return to the Planet Jurai.
Now here is a great example to those people that you know who are too curious for their own good. You can tell them this story to try to appease them. The keys have a great deal to play in the storyline because if Tenchi had not taken the keys from Yousho, then he would not be able to enter the cave. If he did not enter the cave, he would not have let out the Space Pirate Ryoko and made his life complicated. I guess that finding the keys was a good thing because it helped to bring such a great storyline afterwards. But let this story be a reminder to all you curious people. Don't try to go over your head or else you may end up like Tenchi; having the most wanted criminal of planet Jurai living in your house!
I guess this is pretty self explanatory, but why not talk about it anyways. This van has gone through hell and back when the Masaki family and friends go to the Nobuki Inn. This van must have a lot of milage becuase of all the traveling that the family does. It is an average van that fits the needs of the unique family.
Before I start talking about this item, I have to ask one question to myself. Why would any sane person give a laser pistol to a goof-up like Mihoshi? Sorry if I offended any people who adore Mihoshi. Well back to the laser pistol. This is the standard weapon given to the galaxy police. Just think about the police nowadays and how they carry guns with them. Instead of guns, the Galaxy Police carry laser pistols. It was first used in Kagato's Flag Ship when Mihoshi was pitted against Soja Guardians. When not being clumsy, Mihoshi uses her laser pistol with precision and care.
Washu is seen as being a great mother when Tenchi aunt leaves the baby at Tenchi's house for a while. When all of the girls are swept with fatigue becuase of the baby, it is up to Washu to take care of the baby. When she sees the regular baby formula on the counter, she decides to make her own brand. Come on now! If you were the #1 scientific genius in the world, why would you want to feed a formula that you know is no good for the baby. Being the great mother that Washu is, she makes a better baby formula come out of nowhere and gives it to the baby.
The mind scanner first appears in the episode that Ryo-Oki feels like he has to help Tenchi. Ryo-oki goes and takes a visit to Washu, who helped create the cabbit. When it seems that Washu does not have the time for Ryo-oki at the moment, the cabbit sits next to the Mass which are creatures that are explained in the video. When the Mass goes to Tenchi, it is up to Washu, Ryo-oki and the gang to find the Mass. How are they going to do it? With the mind scanner of course. Another of Washu's latest inventions, she uses it on Ryo-oki to figure out where the Mass would have gone to.
Planet Jurai. If you have watched the seiries at all you SHOULD know about this place. If not, shame on you. For the newcomers, Planet Jurai is the home-planet of Yousho, Aeka, and Sasami. The Royal Family of Jurai control the planet. The planet is never actually visited in the OAV, but many people come to Earth from this planet. This includes Funaho, Masaki, and Aeka's and Sasami's father. This place is very interesting because of the many stories that Aeka and Sasami tell about it. One example of this is when Sasami was remembering a time when she was running after Aeka because she was leaving Sasami behind. The scenery in the background is of the Planet Jurai. It shows many flowers and other kinds of landscapes.
This bridge is the famous place where the two ships; Ryo-oki and Ryo-oh crashed into when they were fighting. After the confrontation, the bridge is not left standing. It is never said if the bridge was ever rebulilt. It is kind of funny that they refer to the two spaceships as "meteors destroying the Great Seito Bridge that morning".
This is the place where Washu does her "experiments" and makes her new inventions. This place is in another dimension. The only way to get to her lab is to pass through a dimensional door that is connected to the Masaki house. People can usually see Washu working hard on new ideas and putting them into her computer. This is one of the places Tenchi does not enjoy coming into bacause he is usually used as a guinea pig for Washu's experiments.
Funaho was the ship that Yousho used to chase the Space Pirate Ryoko from the Planet Jurai to Earth. As what happened in the battle between Aeka and Ryoko, the ships fell to Earth where the battle ensued. Yousho was able to trap Ryoko and put her in the prison cave. Even though it seems that Funaho should not be able to regenerate itself ( Jurai's ships usually can not regenerate if not on the Planet Jurai), but because of Ryoko's power gems, Funaho is able to survive. The ship Funaho does not look like a ship when it puts it roots down. It is not able to fly anymore, but it keeps Yousho alive. Funaho also hints Aeka that Yousho is still alive because she knows that if Funaho is alive, Yousho should still be alive somewhere on Earth.
The Masaki House is where Tenchi and the gang live. For some reason or another, most of the characters seem to be attracted to this house. This place has many things happen to it during the course of the OAV. For instance, the Masaki House has been the victim of many of Washu's experiments that might have gone bad. I wonder if Tenchi has insurance for the house?!
The Masaki Shrine is the place where the OAV begins. The Shrine was built many years ago next to the Cave that held Ryoko captive. There is not much to say about this one. It is just like any other shrine that you have been too. Let me rephrase that! Nothing that is in Tenchi Muyo is normal?! The shrine is not mentioned much in the OAV, but it is a sacred monument nevertheless.
