*It was another beautiful day in Indianapolis, and rather than being out driving her baby or even just enjoying herself, Caitlynn was behind a desk, looking at the paperwork she'd been avoiding for the past week. There were reports to peruse, a staff meeting to attend, and what's this, A transfer? Caitlynn sighed and picked up the phone and dialed.*
~Vice.~
Yeah, this is Caitlynn with the VCTF. Lemme talk to the squad chief.
~He's in a meeting right now, Ms Monroe. Can I have him call you back?~
What did you say your name was?
~Diane, ma'am.~
Well, Diane, you know as well as I do Mike doesn't go to meetings. Let me talk to him.
~He went to this one, Ms. Monroe, since it is with the Commissioner.~
The Commish? About what?
~He didn't tell me. I'll tell him you called.~
All right. I want to hear from him as soon as he gets back.
~That will be up to him, ma'am.~
*Caitlynn hung up the phone and put her feet up on her desk.* Great. *Caitlynn hated being out of the loop, and this transfer had certainly been a surprise.*
-----------------
The transfer had come as a surpirse to Abel as well. But, then he hadn't expected to be caught with the Commander 20 yr old daughter either. He was supposed to have been out of town. In fact they had planned for him to be out of town. Of course it didn't help matters that they had been found tangled up together in the Commander's bed either, though that had been Alicia's idea and not his.
It hadn't been that hard to find the offices that were assigned to VCTF and so he pushed through the double paned frosty glass doors and looked around. "I'm looking for a Commander Monroe."
Maybe this transfer wouldn't be to bad, I mean Vice had gotten tired of the way that he did things causing more damage then any other cop on the payroll.
-------------------
*The officers looked around. One of them called out, obviously braver than the rest.*
~Kate! You got a visitor!~
*She stood up from her desk and headed toward the voice.
Jabrowski, you call me Kate again and I'll have you cleaning up dog crap. My name is Caitlynn. *Only one person had ever called her Kate without repercussions, and he died a long time ago. As Jabrowski got up and went for coffee, Caitlynn turned her attention to the newcomer.* I'm Commander Monroe.
*She took a moment to evaluate him before she continued.* Let me guess, you're the new transfer. I was gonna ask Mike, but I guess I'll ask you. Why'd you get kicked out of Vice? We only get troublemakers, so you must have done something. When she spoke, the room got quiet. Just like anywhere else, people love to gossip and nobody wanted to miss his answer.*
----------------------
"Caitlynn, if you don't mind could we discuss in your office. I mean, it's not something I would like widely known. Well, at least not yet." He looked around committing each face to memory before looking back at Caitlynn.
It didn't seem like it would be to bad being transferred at all. I mean Caitlynn Monroe wasn't an eyesore at all. Though, Abel just knew that he'd be getting in trouble with this one a lot. "Yes Ma'am, Lieutenant Abel Rochester...reporting as ordered due to the transfer."
---------------------
The room remained quiet while everybody waited to see what Caitlynn would say. She looked Abel in the eye and shrugged.* Sure, follow me. *The other officers looked at each other. Everyone liked seeing Caitlynn tear into someone as long as they weren't her intended target. Now, they weren't gonna get a chance. She pointed toward the door of her office.* It's right this way, Abel.
*Then, she looked at the other officers.* Get back to work. I'm sure Indy's criminal element is already hard at work, and they don't need any more of a head start.
-----------------------
Abel waited for the door to close and for Cait to sit back in her chair before he himself sat. "Well, I'm sure that you know that I come from Vice. Well, the Commander and I had a bit of a falling out. I was one of those officers that caused more damage then any in the Vice Squad. But, that wasn't the main reason the transfer was initiated. I, uh.....happened to be sleeping with the Vice Commander's 20 yr old daughter, Alicia. He happened to catch us........in his bed, tangled together."
There he'd said it and oddly if felt good to get it off his chest. He watched to see how Cait would react to what he had just told her. It was either this is being given ober to the Meter "Maids", at that thought he just shivered. Him in that line of work just wouldn't last long.

----------------------
*She sat with her hands templed, elbows resting on the desk as he spoke. It really didn't matter to Caitlynn if he'd slept with the VC himself, though his penchant for destruction could prove troublesome in the future.* Really? *She chuckled.* Now that -is- amusing. I wish I could have seen it. Dan can be a real pompous ass sometimes. You do know Alicia may have planned it that way, right? That girl always knew how to push her daddy's buttons, and she's only gotten better at it.
--------------------
"Caitlynn, I know very well that Alicia planned for us to use Dan's bed...but he was supposed to be gone the weekend that we were caught. Though, I must say it was worth it." It's not that Abel had a penchant for destruction it was just that he tended to rough up the suspects more then the other Vice did, I mean he's a big guy...strong too.
---------------------
"No, I think she got what she wanted out of me....besides it was fun while it last." He chuckled. "Plus, I don't need anymore reasons for Dan to get on my ass." He didn't expect Cait to ask him that. "Yeah, she was worth it. I could always give you a demonstration." Abel winked, he knew that he could at least joke with Cait somewhat.
"I don't hide from work, Commander. You don't gotta worry about that. There were time's when I was referred to as "The Hammer" for how hard I cracked down on the Prostitution ring I busted 3 yrs ago."
-----------------------
Dan ain't your boss anymore, I am. *This time, Caitlynn winked. Talking to her newest member was so much more enjoyable than doing paperwork anyway.* A demonstration, huh? I'll have to keep that in mind. Might be just the thing I need after a few more weeks like this. *She gestured to the stack of paperwork on her desk.* See this? This is all the beauracratic bullshit I have to deal with that the criminals don't. I didn't even know you were being transferred until this morning. *A heavy sigh escaped her lips* God, I hate paperwork. They want me to be an adminstrator, but I just can't do it. It's not me. *The name Hammer was quite familiar to her, impressive actually. Caitlynn was not easily impressed.*
You were "the Hammer", huh? Now, -that- was some excellent police work. You got a lot of girls who owe you, big time.
---------------------
Well, you know Caitlynn....paperwork must be done. It does clear the way for us grunts to get our work done. I mean if it wasn't for people like us, this city would be a cesspool of violence." Abel winked. "Your office has been sound proofed, right? I mean all we'd have to do is close the blinds and no one would be any wiser save for once we walked out." He winked again.
"Yeah, I keep tabs on a few of them. Get a letter from time to time. One of them's actually enrolled at Stanford right now."
---------------------------
Maybe I should let you do the paperwork, then. *Again with that grin. This guy was turning her into a schoolgirl. This was -not- gonna be good when the rest of the VCTF caught on. She didn't get where she was by melting into a puddle of schoolgirl goo at the first guy to hit on her.* As far as your other offer, that would have to wait until work is done for the day...
Stanford, really? Good for her. Someone of your skills will be a welcome addition, here.
------------------------------
"No don't be trying to pawn the paperwork off on me. I might help with the paperwork pertaining to me but nothing more then that. Sorry, Caitlynn." Abel snickered. "Besides, how would it be worth my time to help you with all the paperwork?" He left that little bit open for discussion. "We all need to relieve some tension at times anyway. And, I'd be lying if I said that I didn't want to help you out in that area." He smiled that lopsided grin that had won so many over.
"Well, that was the main reason why they didn't want to can me. My skills can be well-used in many departments. But, I think they wanna keep the screw-ups all in one group so they're easy to blame."
-----------------------
*She just laughed again, shaking her head.* I've been told I'm pretty good, but I'm not sure even excellent sex is worth the problems that come with paperwork. *That grin was working, she liked him more and more.* I agree with you 100% on the whole screwup thing. Sometimes I think they only gave me this job to keep me from corrupting any more new officers. *She paused only a beat before continuing.* It doesn't hurt I made a secretary cry. *She put her hands up as if to defend against an attack.* She deserved it. She'd been giving me the run-around for days, and I finally got sick of it. Got suspended for a few days because of her.
------------------------
"Now was that New or New and Young Officers?" Abel just had to grin. Why couldn't his former Commander looked like this. He just wanted to get closer and closer to Cait. He got up and walked around to sit back on the edge of the desk. "So what did you do hit the secretary? I mean how else could one get suspended?" While he asked this his hand was caressing one of her own.
------------------
*Oh, he was a brave man. A twitch of her leg, and he'd be keeled over in pain, clutching the family jewels. But, she didn't flinch, didn't even appear different. The only change was a slight flush to her cheeks. Things hadn't been this interesting for Caitlynn in quite a while. In a way, it was like being undercover. The same rush, same thrill, same undercurrent of danger in everything you did. She leaned a little bit closer.* I told her that if she didn't let me see the Commissioner, I would pull that fake Dolly Parton wig off her head and beat her with it. Then, I said I'd let her husband know just how close she and the Commissioner really were.
------------------
"So, do we leave the door locked or unlocked?" She knew what he ment and even if she didn't she'd figure it out. He slowly ran a hand through her hair. "We're the bad seeds might as well act like them." He winked. "I bet she didn't take to kindly to that threat did she....but what matters is did you get the results you needed?"
-------------------
If it ever gets to that, we leave the door locked. *She smiled, again, with a sneaky look in her eyes.* I'll make sure to slam it really loud and swear at you first. That way they'll think you're in trouble. Which you never know, you might be. *He was right, the VCTF was largely created as a joke, a PR stunt. Results weren't really expected, and if it failed, a mass firing of departmental dead weight would be perfect. Caitlynn planned to show them all that wasn't going to be the case.*
------------------------
"What is it I want from what exactly? my life, job, and hell I'd be lying if I said there wasn't something I wanted from you." Abel smiled and switched to his porfessional side once more. "How about dinner Friday night at 7, I'll pick you up even." He stood as well and moved back around the desk.
------------------------
A deep sigh escaped his mouth as he climbed out of his car, closing the door carefully. He ran his hand along the lines of the car, sad to have to leave the driver seat to go to work. But work did pay the bills. Lighting up a smoke he puffed on it as he walked in from the parking lot. As he reached the door, the cancer stick was flicked into the ash tray by the door. Walking through the maze of hallways to his department, the Vehicular Crimes Task Force. He smiled, knowing that if this group had been around when he had been a teen then their was no way he would have ended up a cop. Pushing open the door and walking into office he tossed hsi coat on his desk and heard the scuttlebutt around the coffee pot. A transfer? Thats odd, he smiled thinking of how the commander would have taken it. Maybe he should go diffuse the situation, poor guy, he shook his head at the thought. No one had saved him the first time he meet her, why should he be kind to some one else?
-----------------------
*When Abel moved back around the desk, she watched him very carefully. This man was a charmer. Unfortunately, so many charmers actually turn out to be snakes. Caitlynn didn't much care for getting bitten, so she would be careful for now.*
Now, Abel, I never turn down a free meal. You've got a deal, but just so ya know, don't count on any dessert, if you know what I mean.
*She gave him a wink, stood up from the desk, and headed out the door.* C'mon, we got work to do. *Without waiting for his reply, she strolled out into the main area and waited, hands on her hips.*
Nice of you to join us today, Finn. Could you try being on time once in a while?
-------------------------
"Caitlynn, I'm sure there'll be dessert of many varieties." Abel winked and gave your shoulder a squeeze when you walked by him.
"Your right, time to stop some thefts....and have fun doin' it too."
He followed her out and then moved to on side so that he wouldn't be hidden behind the Commander. He found the person who had to be Finn as it looked like he had just stepped in the office. Finn must have been the other High Ranking Officer in the section at least for now until they got some more cannon fodder for IA.
---------------------------
He smiled and sipped his coffee, if he jumped to much then she would come to expect that. And there was no way he could let that happen. He yawned a bit and shrugged. "Yow know how it is, traffic and all that." He smiled again, and then turned his gaze on the new guy. Almost instantly he was all business, new people ment trouble, always did. "So you're the new guy?" He moved to shake the mans hand, "Daniel Finn, but as our lovely commander pointed out, you can call me Finn" Never hurt to be friendly and if you can get a jab in at the commander all the better.
---------------------------
*She wasn't surprised by Finn's response. He liked to test her. Most of the guys liked to test her, probably compensating for the fact that she was in charge rather than one of them.* Traffic my ass, Finn. You probably overslept. You sure look like it.
*Inside, she was secretly pleased, though she didn't let it show. They were a bunch of good guys overall, and they did good work.*
You boys can talk, I need more coffee. *Leaving Finn and Abel to talk, she headed for the coffeemaker.*
Dammit! Why is it so hard for you people to make more coffee when you finish a pot! *Grumbling, she started to brew more coffee.*
-----------------------
"Nice to meet you, Finn. Abel Rochester, most people call me AJ." He shook Finn's hand. "So, is Caitlynn always such a hard ass....or is she putting on a show for me as the new guy?"
Abel did covertly watch as Caitlynn walked over to the coffee receptricle. "Boss, we're cops we don't make the coffee we drink it."
------------------------
He smiled at AJ, the guy seemed like he would fit in. He held up his mug of coffee and sipped it, having been the one to take the last of the pot. "Hmm a hard ass, no not always. Some days she is a stone cold bitch, but that doesnt happen too often." He grinned again, "Well AJ it is good to meet you, hopefully you stick around longer then the last transfer." He turned back to watch Caitlynn, "Oh and do we have doughnuts around here, your know the "traffic" kept me from getting breakfast"
------------------------
Cops who want to drink coffee need to learn to make it. You've got a college education, it shouldn't be that difficult. *They were already teaming up against her, this was great, just great. While she waited for the coffee, she picked up a donut and ate it.* Yeah, Finn, we got donuts. *Donuts were a cop cliche, but they were a delicious cliche. She walked back toward the men and the rest of the VCTF.* Shouldn't some of you people be out there, stopping criminals? Last I checked they didn't just walk into police stations with a sign saying "Arrest me, I committed a crime."
--------------------------
"Most cops don't have time to brew coffee, as you so enjoy bringing up....Criminals aren't gonna bring themselves in nor are they going to sleep much."
Abel chuckled. "Your know Commander, that donut'll probably go straight to your thighs." Turning to Finn. "Yes, well who's to say Caitlynn here has the final say if I stay or not."
-------------------------------
Finn shrugged and snagged a doughnut, "Well you know that isnt all true, Caitlynn. There was that one guy who did that? Remember, he walked in and confessed. But I do know what you mean and if you want I will head out now and play cops and robbers." He grinned at AJ's comment, this guy has balls, wonder how long that will last. "SO who is the new guy with anyway?" He grinned, and bit into the doughnut, waiting for an answer.
------------------------------
*If AJ wanted to play that way, then by hell, Caitlynn could too.* You're absolutely right, Finn. That guy did come in and confess. Too bad he was a bit crazy. *Her lips curled into a smirk, and she stared Finn in the face.* AJ's here because he got kicked out of Vice for sleeping with the Vice Commander's daugter, Alicia. He also does a lot of damage getting the job done. *It was her turn to grin as she watched AJ out of the corner of her eye.*
------------------------------
Abel just blinked and looked at Caitlynn. "So, we describe the demonstration that I gave you. When we were talking in your office." He just grinned, fine I can play hardball too. "So, who am I partnered with?"
------------------------------
He smiled and turned to him, "You got with her? I wondered who that was. So are the rumors true?" He grinned and waited for both questions to be answer. He ignored the comment that AJ had made to the bosses about a demonstration. "And who here doesnt cause quite a bit of dammage on this job, I am sure if you check the bills I have racked up quite a total."
----------------------------
I don't tear shit up quite as much as you two do, you deserve each other. AJ, you and Finn are partners. *She turned to Finn.* Maybe AJ can help you get your ass here on time in the morning. *Then, she turned to AJ.* Maybe Finn can help you keep it in your pants, next time. *If this experience had taught Caitlynn anything, it was that being attracted to someone on the job was nothing but trouble. That little prick was gonna try to play her. What the hell had she been thinking? Now, she was thankful that things stopped when they did.*
------------------------------
Looking to Finn."She certainly knew exactly what she wanted and what she was doing." He shook his head a bit. "Guess, we're partners then. Should be interesting" He looked over at Cait and he actually looked like that last comment from her had hurt. He tried to convey in his face that he hadn't ment what he said about the demonstrations.
------------------------------
He smiled and shurgged, "I guess so, you riding with me I guess then." He looked at Caitlynn, and smiled a bit, "And dont worry we will play nice, Scouts honor boss lady" Throwing his a mook salute before taking another sip from his coffee. "So any idea where we should go today?"
-----------------------------------
*Caitlynn was a bit surprised by AJ's reaction, but she didn't let it show. Perhaps she'd been too hasty in her comments. Her mouth always did have a tendency to get her in trouble, it was why she was here.* Well, Finn, I heard that La Dominatrice is planning something big. I don't know what it is, but I'd like to. Why don't you and AJ go try to find out for me?? *She would have to figure out a way to apologize to AJ later. For now, there was work that needed to get done. A mountain of paperwork still awaited Caitlynn in her office.*
-----------------------------------
"Right, well let's see if we can find any leads on what La Dom is planning. That way we can make the Boss proud of us." He winked to Cait and followed that with a 2 fingered salute and followed after Finn. "Why don't you drive, I dun much car for 4-wheeled vehicules."
-------------------------------
He smiled and nodded, "Yeah follow me." And with that he lead them out of the building, casting a smile back over his shoulder at Caitlynn. Walking back out into the weather he shrugged on his coat and walked towords his car. The Mustang sat in the parking lot, lookign every bit the predator it was. He smiled and opened the driver side door, sliding into the car with ease.
---------------------------------
*As they left, Caitlynn walked back over to the coffee pot, which had finally finished brewing. She poured herself a cup, and took a sip. She didn't usually bother with cream or sugar, preferring unadulterated deliciousness. The drink sent a warm feeling coursing through her body similar to the one she'd felt in the office earlier.
She brushed hair from her face as she headed back into the office. The paperwork stack seemed to have grown in her brief absence and she could only sigh as she sat down.* Damn, I hate paperwork..
