Survival

Survival, as we define it, has more to do with our Earth Philosophy rather than any kind of militant, fundamentalist or extremist kind of surviving of social disater. We are not a militant survivalist organization. If that is what you are looking for, we are not it.

We do learn about traps, snares, fish spears, throwing sticks, stalking animals, and related skills including archery. We work on making better debris shelters out of the materials at hand in any place we may be for a weekend. We make fire by friction using the bow drill. We learn flintknapping so we can make sharp edges to work with wood, grass, reeds, and to, maybe someday, make our own arrows to hunt with.

Many of these skills we start out by using modern tools and work our way backward from there. Eventually, we hope to be able to go into the forest with nothing but the clothes on us, and make what we need in order to live well with the Earth.

We are not about "roughing it". Our association is about living well in the wilderness and making it a better place as a result of us having been there.
