Hiragana: K's and G's

Today we will concentrate on the K row. These characters serve as two different sounds. They serve for both K + vowel sounds and G + vowel sounds. It is a very neat little process in which they make a K sound a G. They add two little marks that look like quote marks (") at the upper right hand corner of the character. These are called "dakuten" or voice marks. Voice marks appear on certain other characters as well.
