Hiragana: Vowels
The first row is the vowels. These characters only appear when it isn't preceded by a consonant. In cases like "ka" or "sa," you use the approriate character instead.
A as in father or as in law
I as in machine
U as in lunar
E as in egg
O as in broken
*For U and O, don't round your lips
As nice as I can make my kana lessons, just staring at this page will not make you learn them. The key to memorization is basic repitition. Whenever you have few free minutes, copy down the kana you're trying to learn. You should also test yourself as much as possible. I will be begin to use kana in the third chapter of my lessons.
