TRADES 2003 - 2004 Offseason |
I trade: Sidney Ponson I receive: (from Seattle): 2nd, (Chris Lambert) 3rd, (Jay Rainville) and 6th round amateur picks (Adam Lind) (all 2004), 2004 April Monthly (Nate Robertson), 2004 May Monthly (Jeff Francis) and Darin Erstad. Commentary: I really feel bad for Seattle with the way this turned out. Everyone thought Ponson had finally broke out and would be an ace for years to come, instead he fell apart. In return I acquired through the picks four quality prospects (one who has already began to live up to expectations in Francis), an average young pitcher in Robertson and a moneysucker in Erstad. I trade: Jeff Bagwell I receive: (from Los Angeles): Dave Roberts and Joe Thurston *CLAUSE*: Roberts has to play 130 games and Thurston has to play 110 games or I get 750 k and 2nd round amateur draft pick and 7th round draft pick for 2006. If either one doesn't happen the clause goes into affect. APPLIED (2nd: Matthew Antonelli 7th: Tim Norton) I trade: John Thomson amateur pick 105 (Sean Marshall) in 2003 I receive: (from Texas): Francisco Cordero *CLAUSE*: If Cordero doesn't record 25 saves in 2004 then Texas gives me their June and July monthly pick (in 2005) for my 2004 6th round amateur pick. Not Applied Commentary: It should be noted that pick 105 was the last pick in the 2003 draft. |
