Service & Fellowship Groups
1 Peter 4:10 "Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms."
Cub Scouts - Boys from 1st through 5th grade meet weekly in Dens to be trained in the responsibilities of participating in citizenship, provide growth in moral strength and character, and enhance the development of physical, mental, and emotional fitness. Cub Scouts sing, recreate, and receive awards at Pack Meetings on the 4th Monday of every month at 6:30 p.m. Activities throughout the year include Pinewood Derby, Raingutter Regatta, Spring Picnic, Christmas Caroling, and family campout. Call Bill Steele 523-9152 for more details.
Fellowship Club - Trinity members age 50 and older, singles and couples, comprise the Fellowship Club. Meetings with potluck dinner are held on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the Parish Room (excluding January, June, July, August). Contact Helen Hoffmann 789-4912 for more information.
Food Collection Volunteers - Food collection volunteers have distributed non-perishable food to needy Trinity families since 1986. Market Day Volunteers - Parents and upper grade students distribute delectable Market Day take-home cuisine on the 4th Thursday (usually) of each month between 3:00 and 5:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria. The Parent Teacher League (PTL) uses the proceeds to buy "big-ticket" items for the school such as cafeteria tables, desks, and computers. Lutheran High Seniors count Market Day volunteer time toward their required service hours.
Ongoing Ambassadors For Christ (OAFC) - LCMS youth from 7th to 12th grade become Ambassadors For Christ to share Christ with the world while sharing fellowship and fun with each other. Ambassadors visit host LCMS congregations for one weekend a month and stay at the homes of the members of their host congregation. Ambassadors are trained in techniques to share the gospel and then spread the gospel from door to door in a witness survey. Ambassadors also sing, visit the elderly, study the Bible and learn effective witnessing techniques. Call Tom Clark 636-7403 for more information.
Parent Teacher League (PTL) - The parents and teachers of Trinity Lutheran School children meet to promote school spirit and work cooperatively to provide a positive learning environment. The PTL Board meets regularly in the Art and Resource room of the grade school on the 2nd Tuesday of every month and is also addressed by a notable speaker on the 3rd Tuesday of every other month in the parish room or gym. For more information call Tom Janssen 529-7247.
Rangerettes - This exciting and growing group of Lutheran girls, from grades 1 through 8, are organized by high school and adult leaders. The girls learn to worship God in everything they do, growing in faith as they experience God's presence in work and play, and serve God by expressing their love for Him as they help others. Activities include devotions, singing, badge work, camping, crafts and field trips. The whole family gets involved and enjoys activities with monthly family nights, weekly meetings on Thursday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the parish room. If interested contact Joan Dannewitz 528-5666.
Senior Choir - Membership in the Senior Choir is open to all adults of at least high school age. Rehearsals are conducted on Wednesday evenings, 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. in the church balcony. Choir season begins on the Wednesday after Labor Day and continues until the end of May. The choir provides liturgical and special music for the Sunday morning worship services of our congregation. Choir members have the unique opportunity to witness and share their faith in song. Music reading ability is not essential. There are no auditions. We only ask that choir members be able to sing "in tune". Contact Laura Fliege 573-2308.
Trinity Lutheran Couples (TLC) - Married couples of all ages share fellowship in a Christian atmosphere in the parish room at Trinity Lutheran School. TLC sponsors recreational activities such as baseball games, dinners, and swimming parties. Meeting dates are announced in the weekly bulletin. Interested couples should contact Terri Cameron 787-4111.
Willing Workers (Quilters) - If you can sew a small stitch you have quilting talent and can help support a seminary student. Both men and women are welcome to spend time working together and visiting in a friendly and caring group. Your help is needed and quilt requests are exceeding production. Please drop by on Thursday between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. in the church basement. Contact Helen Hoffmann 789-4912 for more information.
Women With Mission - Join other Christian women who assist and encourage each other in affirming their relationship with God to use their gifts in support of Trinity. This group assists Helping Hands, Contact Ministries and McClernand School. They also have devotional Bible studies, fellowship and a support network for each other. All women are welcome to visit or join them on the 1st Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the parish room. Contact Cindy Ushman 789-6103 for more information.
Work-Day Volunteers - Members of the congregation maintain and improve church and school facilities through four Work-Days per year. Work parties consist of around 40 people of all ages--both men and women. Young workers are paired with olders workers and work is matched to the talents of each worker. Work-Days save the cost of hiring outside help and provide opportunities for fun and fellowship. Lunch is usually served on all-day Work-Days. No one is overworked. To share your time and talents watch the bulletin for announcements and call Dave Booher 793-1072.
Youth Group - The Youth Group (which is also the Youth Bible Study Group) is comprised of students from grades 8 through 12. Many members have attended youth gatherings in New Orleans and San Antonio, enjoyed outings to Six Flags, and performed worthwhile service activities for the church and community. The youth meet Sunday morning at 9:40 a.m. in the upper room of the White House (next to the school) for Bible study and, as announced, for fellowship activities. Contact Brad Jackson 523-9820 for more information.
