Music > Mp3's
I have always been attracted to writing my own songs, and playing my own music. I've been writing songs for about as long as I knew my first couple of chords. I began my musical stint not really wanting to be a singer, but nobody else in my short list of musical allies felt like doing it so I kind of got nominated. I feel fortunate that such was the case, I feel that I've evolved greatly in my singing. I once thought I wanted to be some blazing fast guitar slinger, but now I know that I'm more of an overall songwriting kind of guy. I look to many different musical artists for inspiration. In my mind there's just something soothing, and almost eerie about the sound Johnny Cash singing with just his guitar about saints and devils, lovers and haters, etc. To me the sound of Bob Dylan spewing out stories about life, love, and whatever else, just lights this fire deep in my soul. I am totally engulfed in the simplicity, and yet overwhelmed by the power. Several other artist I admire most include Ben Harper, Ryan Adams, Jeff Buckley, and countless other artists who are able to block out the everyday sounds with their words and songs, the ability to captivate an audience and share with it the deep emotion and somehow connect on a level otherwise untouchable. While I feel that I am definately not to that level. I admire their ability so much more then I ever admired blazing guitars. My medium is typically acoustic. I suppose all my heroes have had an acoustic presence to some extent. However I also love rocking out in a band scenario. My main guitar is a Fender GA-45S acoustic. It just feels good. College life has kept me busy and I find less and less time for songwriting. However, I love performing for an attentive audience. My music is simple, honest, and deeply a part of me.
