TREKKING IN SOLU KHUMBU
Tibetan bouddhism
All along the trip, there are plenty of different
monasteries from the very small to the biggest one in Tengboche. Following
bouddhist tradition, Sherpas write prayers on floating flags. The wind
carry the prayers to the holy spirits. Prayer books are kept shut up in
big prayer wheels which people turn, each turn is like saying all the prayers
contained in the wheel. And even sometimes, the wheel rotation is performed
by the current of the rivers like in watermill.
Monks of teh monastrey gave us the authorisation to take photos, you can see the monatery walls coverd by frescoes and plenty of little boxes containing tibetan books..

Outside, there are some big stones engraved or
painted with prayers in tibetan writing. Jangbu explains us that prayers
must be writen only on permanent support (Even though nothing is realy
permanent in tibetan philosophy).
