TREKKING IN SOLU KHUMBU
From Lukla to Tengboche
After crossing Kali Kola village, we went down
a trail to Lukla, which is bigger than the other villages becuase of its
local little airport. The landing strip is much more impressive than
the one of Paphlu, as it is very short and finishes with a precipice. It's
better not to fail the takeoff! After the trek, we'll go back to Katmandu
by this way.
We climb more and more each day, we can notice
some changes in the climate, as it looks more and more like alpine landscape
but much wider. We have to walk over suspension bridges to cross the rivers.
It is the only way, therefore everybody use it, even yacks. Bridges are
solid but straight and narrow therefore it's not easy to meet and pass
Yacks.
Here we are waiting for clear cost before crossing:

Here is the trace of an unsuccessful landing on
Lukla strip... The plane is still used to stock wood for the winter
We were told that the pilot had chosen to apply
full lock rather than finishing its take off in the precipice, people were
only lightly injured.
