and so get a lot of lake-effect snow. I personally enjoy the cold, white stuff, but it's not fun when everyone has to drive through a minor snow storm to get home.
Here's a pic of our dog, Ariel (now deceased) out in the snow following either the blizzard of '93 or '94. It's hard to remember which when you haven't dated the pictures, especially since following both storms the drifts were around 6 feet tall - made for some great snow forts at the time, and Homer Central made history by closing school for 2 or 3 days straight while the snow plows cleared the roads. What can I say? It was exciting at the time.
Just in case you're frightened away by that weather story, I thought I'd show you a picture enjoyed by many people each year.
We actually have a lot of visitors driving through the region in the autumn because of the leaves. You have to hit it on just the right weekend to get the full effect of the color change, with brilliant reds, oranges, yellows, and a few remaining greens waving down from the hillsides.
So, hey, if you want to take a road trip sometime around late September - early October, drive up and visit the rolling hills of central NY, travel through the Catskills, or continue on to the north-eastern part of the state and enjoy the Adirondacks in their fall splendor.
