Charity Event

Tri-beta will sponsor a charity event in the Spring semester to raise money for a local (bay area) charity of our choice. This event will involve all the members of Tri-beta and be open to the entire USF and bay area community. The charity committee (with the input from all Tri-beta members), will decide what kind of event we're doing (e.g. auction, raffle, dance-a-thon), what charity the proceeds will go to, and plan the event.

The 2000 event was a "Great American Duck Race", in which people "sponsored" rubber ducks for $5 each. The ducks "raced" across the Koret pool and the
first 25 ducks to get across won donated prizes for their owners. A picnic lunch and awards ceremony followed the race and all money raised was given to the greater bay area make-a-wish foundation.

This year, Spring 2002, Tri-Beta will be hosting the "Special Olympics" at USF. We are looking forward in making this event a fun and exciting experience for all of those who are involved.

If you have any ideas for this charity event, or have any questions, please contact Helen or Janet
