Contract of Membership |
I, _________________________, hereby agree to the criteria set forth by the Tri-Beta Executive Board as a prerequisite for my induction into this honor society. The Executive Board has planned 7 general meetings for this Fall semester 2001, with tolerance for only one absence. Approximately 7 community service/academic events (cs/a) will be scheduled per month, and 1-2 social activities will be sceduled for the semester. Attendance at the social activities is voluntary. However, 6 hours of community service events is required per semester. You may complete your community service hours at anytime throughout the Fall semester. If a conflict exists between your work or school schedules, and the events scheduled, please contact an Executive Board member to make alternative arrangements for completion of requirements.
According to bylaws set forth by the Tri-Beta National Office, a new member's GPA will not influence his/her entrance into the honor society. However, a regular, or continuing regular member must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA, which will be monitored by Dr. Niles (Advisor).
This signed contract, and one-half of the dues are due Monday, October 8, 2001 (fees due to Chang Ho Chong; contracts due to Marilyn Florero ). ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP FEES: $30.00
I understand that my inability to comply with the requirements established by the Tri-Beta Executive Board does not entitle me to a refund of dues or any monetary contributions (ie. fundraising paraphernalia). Also, I will become ineligible for induction into the Tri-Beta National Biological Honor Society.

Application for Regular Membership
The purpose of Beta Beta Beta National Biological Honor Society shall be to function as an honor and professional society for students in the biological sciences. Its activities shall be designed to stimulate interest, scholarly attainment, and investigation in the biological sciences, and to promote the dissemination of information and new interpretations among students of the life sciences.
Regular Members of Beta Beta Beta National Biological Honor Society must fulfill the following criteria: shall be undergraduate majors in the biological sciences shall have completed at least 3 courses in biology and average grade of at least a B (3.0 GPA) in the major shall be in good academic standing shall have spent at least 3 semesters (including spring '00 semester) as an active associate member of Tri-Beta.
Associate Members of Beta Beta Beta National Biological Honor Society shall be those undergraduates whose interests include the life sciences in some significant way, but who are ineligible for regular membership. In addition, continuing membership in the chapter requires active participation as stated in the contract.

Only regular members are listed in the graduation program as members of Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society. Only members may wear Tri-Beta regalia at the time of graduation. Graduation regalia: regular members receive Tri-Beta honor cords as a gift from the Chapter regular members may also purchase a Tri-Beta medallion for $25.00.
