Episode 3 - Mall of Georgia

VICTORIA: Before we get started with this week's episode of the Reality Shoe, we have to report a contestant change. Teri had to return to Boston for a family emergency. Taking her place on Team Manolo, we have Lisa who is an attorney from Paris, France. (Her web site.)

(Camera pans an aerial view of downtown Atlanta then skips to an overhead shot of the Mall of Georgia.)

VICTORIA: (Victoria and Regis are standing in front of the mall near the main entrance.) This week's episode takes place at the Mall of Georgia in the Atlanta suburb of Suwanee. We have three games to play today. The first game is actually a secret game where the men know it is a game but the ladies don't. That's major! Reege, can you describe it for the audience?

REGIS: Sure Victoria, the ladies are going to be told that they are going as two teams to the mall to enjoy themselves and also be photographed for an ad campaign for a shoe company, Two Lips. All five team members and their celebrity host will all be wearing the same style of Two Lips shoes but in 6 different colors. This is the same shoe that was used in the audience game in episode one. Victoria is wearing one of the custom-made red pairs just like Sarah Jessica and Drew will be wearing. (camera pans down to show Victoria's shoes.)

VICTORIA: One twist we have added to this supposed ad campaign is that the men, some of whom will be in disguize again will also be in the mall and will be trying to steal as many shoes as possible form the 5 team members AND their celebrity host. The men from Team Manolo will steal from Team Choo and vice-versa. Let's go inside (mall map) and get this game started.

(Team Manolo sets up on the second level near Nordstrom. Karen is wearing the fushia slides, Missy pink, Caroline orange, Lisa lime and Maria white. Sarah Jessica's wearing a pair of custom-designed red slides.)

VICTORIA: You will be free to walk around the mall and shop for 2 hours. Nigel P will be your accompanying videographer. Each of you will have a $1,000 gift card and anything you buy is yours to keep. We'll meet down at the main entrance in 2 hours. Have fun.

(Team Choo sets up on the first level near Dillard's. Susan is wearing the fushia slides, Trisha pink, Jennifer orange, Shelley lime and Nikki white. Drew's wearing a pair of custom-designed red slides.)

REGIS: You will be free to walk around the mall and shop for 2 hours. Bert will be your accompanying videographer. Each of you will have a $1,000 gift card and anything you but is yours to keep. We'll meet down at the main entrance in 2 hours. Have fun.

(Victoria and Regis meet the guys outside near the main entrance for their instructions.)

VICTORIA: Guys, you are ready for the next game. The ladies think they are on a $1,000 shopping spree and ad campaign photo shoot. Actually they are playing into a trick. Each team member and even Sarah Jessica and Drew, are wearing a pair of high heel wooden slides like these. (Regis holds up a pair).

REGIS: You will be targeting the members of the opposite team and trying to steal their shoes. Yes, even our two celebrities are fair game! You already met our new team member Lisa, she replaces Teri as you know. Meet back here in two hours and five minutes with any shoes you collect. (The six men go off to find their targets.)

KINJA: After the commercial break we will pick up with the return from shopping by the Team Manolo and Team Choo ladies. We'll introduce the girls to their male teammates and review the outcome of the shopping spree/stealing shoes game with interviews of the contestants interspursed with video clips from Nigel P and Bert.

(COMMERICAL BREAK)

(The contestants look conspicuous outside the entrance of the mall with Jennifer, Sarah Jessica and Missy all missing a shoe and correspondingly limping and not realizing the shopping spree was a secret game. The camera begins.)

VICTORIA: Welcome back to the Reality Shoe. Let's find out how the teams did with their shopping spree. Wow everyone is loaded down with bags.

KAREN: We tried to get our videographer to help but he said he needed both hands free. (All laughed).

SARAH J: Three of us lost a shoe it appears - what a coincidence. I was just..(Victoria interupts).

VICTORIA: Drew, let's hold off telling about your shoe.

REGIS: We have a little, actually a big surprise for you. (The men begin to approach the group from behind. No disguizes have been removed. NM, Droppedit and Snowman are each holding a shoe.) There are actually three additional members on each of your teams. Come on out here guys. (All six guys come out in between the girls and Regis. The girls see they are holding their missing shoes.)

VICTORIA: Let's have the guys from Team Choo come out. First we have Nigel C - he's from the UK.

KAREN: (Gasps as Nigel removes his disguise) You dirty dog, you! (The others do not understand her comment until she comtinued...) You told me you had a business trip this week!

VICTORIA: Next we have NM, you can return Missy's shoe and claim 25 points for yuor team. NM is from New York. Finally we have Snowman (who removes his disguise) , who is from Chicago. You may return Sarah Jessica's shoe and claim 25 ponits for your team. (Sarah Jessica wipes her bare foot on her ther ankle and replaces her shoe on her foot.)

CAROLINE: So that's what you look like in person?

MARIA: This is your vacation to Jamaica, huh?

REGIS: Now let's meet the guys in Team Manolo. Mikeey (Removes his disguise) is from the UK.

NIKKI: Wow, that's a good disguise. I had no idea it was you.

REGIS: Next we have Jay (begins to remove his makeup.)

TRISHA: (Gasps!) No way!

REGIS: Jay is from South Carolina. Finally we have Droppedit who is from Eastern Europe . You may return Missy's shoe and claim 25 points for Team Manolo.

VICTORIA: For those in the audience, you may can tell that some of the contestatnts know each other. Snowman works with Maria, NM dates Nikki, Jay and Trisha are engaged to be married, and Nigel C is long-time friends with Karen. As you can see we have each pair on opposing teams.

REGIS: By the way the guys were also in disguise in our games in London. (The girls gasp) They were driving the carts and in the subway game as well helping to make your path more difficult.

JENNIFER: Any more surprises?

VICTORIA: No, from now on you will be a team of 8 and work together. Let's review our scores. Team Choo earned 50 points for stealing 2 shoes and Team Manolo earned 25 points for one. Again we want to thank Two Lips for providing these beautiful shoes. Let's now hear more about the shopping and the shoe stealing, after this commercial break.

(Commercial Break)

VICTORIA: Welcome back to the Reality Shoe. We're now going to learn what happened during the shopping spree.

SARAH J: Karen, you want to give a summary for our Manolo group?

KAREN: Okay, the six of us started off at Nordstrom and in the time we had we never did leave the area. Nordstrom has a lot of nice stuff and we took a long time buying clothes and shoes and other accessories.

VICTORIA: Who bought the most expensive item in your group?

SARAH J: Actually, I saved my money and bought a rug at the Mall of Georgia Rug store just outside Nordstrom. That's where I lost my shoe.

VICTORIA: Elaborate, please.

SARAH J: Well, time was running short and I saw these great rugs. I wanted to see how they felt to walk on so I took off my shoes and walked on a few of them. When I returned one of my shoes was gone.

VICTORIA: Snowman, how did you do it? (Begin to show videotape from Nigel P)

SNOWMAN: We thought we were done but suddenly the group walked out of Nordstrom and into that rug place. When I saw Sarah Jessica leave her shoes behind I just waited until none of the girls were looking and I snagged one.

REGIS: Congratulations, Snowman, that late steal was the difference maker in the round. Missy let's hear your story.

MISSY: When we went upstairs to Nordstrom we took a bypass out into the mall and stopped in Nine West. I saw a lot of cute shoes and I took off one of my shoes and left it on the carpet. After trying on half a dozen pairs I couldn't find it.

VICTORIA: How long were you without the shoe and what was it like?

MISSY: It was about an hour. I got tired of walking lopsided. I wanted to put on one of the pairs off shoes I bought but Nigel P said we were not allowed because of the contract with Two Lips.

REGIS: NM, how did you do it? (Begin showing videotape from Nigel P.)

NM: Well Regis, Nigel P and I snuck into the store and pretended to be someone's spouse - another customer's. I saw Missy remove her shoe. I just waited until she was far enough away and pulled it away.

VICTORIA: Good job, NM. Any other tidbits from the Manolo group?

MARIA: I like the Two Lips shoes. They're comfortable - if you're wearing two I suppose. (All laugh.)

VICTORIA: What about you Lisa, you're new to our game - welcome! What do you think?

LISA: It was a lot of fun. I look forward to more surprises. I'm surprised you don't have my husband filming.

REGIS: Alright, how about Team Choo? DREW: We went over more area of the mall that Manolo it seems. We were mostly in Macy's and Belk looking at clothes and shoes, also. Is that a fair assessment Trisha?

TRISHA: Yeah, I'm just surprised I was not one of the shoe loss victims. Shelley walked out of one of hers a couple of times but never lost one. (Show a quick clip of one of her losses.)

VICTORIA: Jennifer, you were the only victim from Team Choo. Tell me about it.

JENNIFER: Although I enjoyed Belk and Macy's, I am a sucker for Ann Taylor so I talked the group into stopping by. They have clothes and shoes I like. I was in and out of the dressing room and walked out barefoot in the clothes I tried on. When it was time to leave, one shoe was gone. (Begin to show Bert's videotape of the event.)

REGIS: Droppedit, tell me how you did it?

DROPPEDIT: When we saw the girls go into Nine West I talked Bert into coming in with me to see what might happen. The other guys waited outside so as not to overload the male population of the store. Their dressing rooms were ones you enter from the store and only had a pull curtain that was 6 inches or so off the floor. At one point, Jennifer kicked her shoe tot he front edge and while she was preoccupied I was able to take it ans slip out unnoticed.

REGIS: Good job Droppedit, it was the only points you got for Team Manolo. Jennifer, how long were you shoeless?

JENNIFER: It was about 45 minutes. Like Missy, I wanted to put on a replacement pair but Bert said I couldn't. I started walknig with a limp keeping my foot flat but eventually I flexed my toes and walked more bbalanced.

NIKKI: I thought that was pretty suspicious. (The others nod in agreement.)

VICTORIA: I guess it was a pretty bad trick to play. of course this is a reality show so you have to expect anything. After this commercial break we'll be in the Nordstrom Department Store where our second game will be played.

(COMMERICAL BREAK)

VICTORIA: (Show Victoria and Regis outside the first floor mall entrance to the Nordstrom store.) For our second game today, for the first time ever the entire teams are unitied and aware of each other's existence. The men and the ladies will have to work together this time. Continue for me, please, Regis.

REGIS: Sure Victoria, our second game today is called the "Misboxed" game. The ladies are wearing shoes sold here at Nordstrom. Specifically, team Manolo is wearing Cole Haan and Team Choo is wearing Donald J Pliner. The ladies plus their celebrity will sit in a row with one leg crossed over the other wearing a shoe that is 1/2 size smaller than what they should be wearing. The men must take off the wrong sized shoe, then find the box in the store with correct shoe and mate to the wrong shoe within it. They then have to swap them and return the correct shoe to the lady from who it came from and place the box back on the shelf where it belongs. Each team can be working on no more that two shoes at a time. Each guy team member must participate in replacing two female teammate's shoes.

VICTORIA: Sounds like there is much that can go wrong here - many opportunities to get confused. It will be interesting. The following are the details on the shoes they are wearing today:

SARAH J: Cole Haan's are being worn by our Team Manolo. (Camera scans down to the shoes as they are named.) Karen is wearing a  'Valida' mule; Caroline is wearing a  'Camdyn' mule; Missy is wearing a  'Moira' mule; I'm wearing a  'Trista' slingback; Lisa is wearing a  'Air Bronte' flat; Maria is wearing  'Mindi' thong sandal.

DREW: Donald J Pliner's are being worn by Team Choo. (Camera scans down th the shoes as they are named.) I'm wearing a  'Ryal' mule; Trisha's wearing a   'Mail' mule; Shelley's wearing a   'Moira' mule; Nikki's wearing a   'Ride' Slingback; Susan's wearing a   'Merik' pump; Jennifer's wearing a   'Veda' thong sandal. (Camera shows the two rows of six ladies facing one another about 6 feet apart, each with one leg crossed over their knee. The guys are lined up at the end of each row and are ready to start.)

VICTORIA: The teams look ready. We will go until both teams are finished and all 6 ladies have on the correct shoes.

REGIS: On your mark, get set, go!

VICTORIA: Right off the bat, the two teams seem to be employing a different strategy. Team Manolo are going to do one shoe at a time per guy and Team Choo has gone with the two shoes each plan. Jay's working on finding Karen's shoe, Droppedit has Caroline's and Mikeey has Missy's. NM has both Drew's and Trisha's shoes, Snowman has Shelley's and Nikki's and Nigel C has Susan's And Jennifer's. REGIS: The ladies look helpless sitting there as the guys frantically go through boxes looking for the correct shoe. Jay's found the box to put in Karen's small shoe but is having some issues finding the one that is correct and 1/2 size larger. Droppedit's found Caroline's larger shoe and placed it under his left arm while he locates the box for the smaller shoe. Found it. Droppedit places the shoe on Caroline and grabs Lisa's dangling flat. It was hanging off only the toenail on her great toe.

VICTORIA: NM 's got Drew's and Trisha's small shoes in his left hand looking for the boxes they came in. Found one, now two. He hurriedly stuffs each shoe in a box and begins to look for the correct ones.

REGIS: Jay finally found the correct shoe for Karen and placed it on her foot then quickly grabbed Sarah Jessica's small shoe off her foot. Droppedit begins to look for the box for Lisa's small shoe and the correct one.

VICTORIA: NM's found both correct shoes and quickly places them Prince Charming style on Drew and Trisha. Snowman grabs one shoe off of Shelley and Nikki and proceeds to the stack of boxes.

REGIS: Jay, Snowman and Droppedit are each going through the stack of boxes looking for Sarah Jessica's and Nikki's slingbacks, Shelley's mule and Lisa's flat. Droppedit's stuggling a little. Jay just found and replaced the mule, now the slingback.

VICTORIA: Snowman's employing the same strategy as NM. He's got the small shoes under his arm. He seems to have found Shelley's correct shoe - he's struggling to balance shoes and boxes. Now he's doing the same for Nikki's shoe. He's got all the boxes back up on the shelf but seems puzzled as he holds a slingback sandal.

REGIS: Jay and Droppedit just found their shoes and they're placing the shoes on Sarah Jessica's and Lisa. All the Manolo team has left is Mikeey who will be finding shoes for Missy and Maria.

VICTORIA: Snowman quickly returns Nikki's slingback but Shelley is stil shoeless. Snowman must have put the shoe for Shelley back in the box. He's starting to go back into the area where he came from and is frantically opening boxes looking for her shoe.

REGIS: Mikeey's working alone like the Choo team. He's got Missy's and Maria's shoes under his arm as he looks for the correct box. If he can execute Manolo seems to be headed to a win and the winner-takes-all 25 points.

VICTORIA: Snowman's re-opened at least 20 boxes to this point. There, he's found a box with 3 shoes in it. Quickly he takes the correct shoe and places it on Shelley's foot. Nigel C grabs Susan's pump and Jennifer's thong sandal and heads to the shelves.

REGIS: Mikeey's apaprently found one of the boxes he needs. (Crash) Oh no, he pulled it out too fast and 5 other boxes came down with him. (directed to Mikeey) You have to get all the boxes reboxed and bak on the shelf.

VICTORIA: That's major! Team Choo has a chance to catch up, now. Nigel C has no problem finding the correct boxes for the shoes. Now he's looking for the correct shoes to close out the game.

REGIS: Mikeey's replaced all the boxes and also found the correct box for the other shoe.

VICTORIA: Alright, looks like Nigel C has two shoes. here he comes. Susanand Jennifer have shoes. We have a winner.

REGIS: Mikeey doesn't quit. He too's found the two shoes he needs and places them on the feet of Missy and Maria. Close, but no cigar - eight seconds late, Manolo.

(Kinja hands Regis a note - he looks at it and shakes his head)

REGIS: Kinja our producer just handed me a note. It appears that NM got his two small shoes boxed in the wrong boxes and Nigel C placed the wrong shoe on Jennifer's foot. (Jennifer picks up her shoe and looks at it.)

JENNIFER: It did feel big - it's a size 9. It should have been a 6.

REGIS: Ooh, you got the number upside down. The two faults add 10 seconds to your time, Team Choo. That gives Manolo a 2 second victory. Congratulations - you get 25 points.

VICTORIA: After this commercial break we will have our third event which is being held at Stone Mountain State Park.

(Commercial Break)

VICTORIA: Our final game in Atlanta will take place at nearby Stone Mountain. Our contestants wil be wearing classic mules fomr the 1950's called Spring-O-Lators, like the  ones I'm wearing today. (Camera pans down to her shoes) The shoes the ladies are wearing today are being provided by the Memphis Vintage store.

REGIS: The event will incorporate the typical elements of an obstacle course, crawling under a net, the staggered tires, the wall climb and rope/water jump. Anyone familiar with the 1970's sports show "The Superstars" will recognize the course. Only the ladies will be participating.

VICTORIA: Each team did their own pre-qualifying rounds and have selected two of their five team members to participate. The first round will be a final heat between the two Choo teammates, Trisha and Jennifer, and a final heat between the two Manolo teammates, Karen and Caroline. The contestants with the top two times will square off in the championship round after this commercial break.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

VICTORIA: We're back to the Reality Shoe and ready to go with the Obstacle Course event here at beautiful Stone Mountain, Georgia. The contestants are ready to run in their springolator mules provided my Memphis Vintage. The first heat will be the Choo team's Jennifer and Trisha. On your mark, get set, go!

DREW: The girls hit the net a about the same time. Their elbows and knees are getting. Jennifer has stopped. Looks like the net slipped in between her foot and the vamp. Okay, she's figured out how to back her foot up and get free without losing too much time. Trisha's out of the net, but she stumbles a little and has to fit her foot completely back into one shoe before running to the wall. (pause) Jennifer catches up with Trisha as they grab the robe and begin to traverse the ramp. Jennifer's trying to walk facing forward but Trisha is trying to walk sideways. Both seem to be working out. Jennifer's over the wall and so is Trisha, oh her shoe got kocked off as she cleared the wall. (pause) She found it quickly and put it back on. Jennifer's slightly ahead as they enter the tires. Oops, Jennifer fell and Trisha's caught her. It's a dead heat as they sprint for the water hazard. Both clear the water without incident. It's a photo finish. The winner is (pause) Trisha by 0.4 seconds.

VICTORIA: (next to Trisha) Congratulations, you will represent Team Choo in the finals. What did you think about your run?

TRISHA: It wasn't too bad. I stumbled coming out of the net and on the wall, I didn't lift my leg up high enough and the heel caught the top and just knocked it off. Running in springlators isn't all that bad. That elastic strap helps a lot.

DREW: Jennifer, you came up just a little bit short, any thoughts?

JENNIFER: I feel like it was a pretty good run. In the net, I kicked my foot up and got it caught in the net. I thought about coming out without my shoe and going back for it but either way it would have been enough to make me lose.

VICTORIA: Congratulations again, Trisha. (Trisha walks away) The second heat will be between Caroline and Karen. On your mark, get set, go!

SARAH J: Caroline and Karen drop to the grass and wallow through the net. Both come out okay. They're now going up the incline to go over the wall. They're half way up. ooh, Caroline slipped off the rope and fell to the ground. She seems to be okay and is making her way back up the ramp. Karen's over the wall and in the tires. Caroline's clearing the wall. Karen's out of the times but missing a shoe. She's not stopping to get it. Caroline's struggling in the tires but Karen's over the water hazard and nearing the finish line. Caroline's finally out of the tires and going toward the water. (pause) Both are across. Karen fniished 3.6 seconds ahead of Caroline, but Regis seems to have a ruling he wants to make. [Karen limps back to retrieve her other shoe out of the tires.]

REGIS: Karen has been assessed a 5 second penalty for not retrieving her shoe, giving Caroline a 1.4 second win.

SARAH J: (With Caroline and Karen) So, Why did you leave your shoe behind, it cost you the heat?

KAREN: I thought I'd lose too much time, maybe more than 5 seconds because I was not sure which tire it was lost in.

VICTORIA: Caroline, congratulations on your win, any thoughts on your heat?

CAROLINE: I thought it was over after I slipped off the rope but I just hung in there and did my best.

VICTORIA: Congratulations to both Trisha and Caroline, their final heat will be after this commercial break.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

VICTORIA: We're back to the Reality Shoe. Trisha from Team Choo is up against Caroline from Team Manolo to determine the winner for the Obstacle Course event. Both won their last race and the winner will be worth 25 points to their team in a winner-takes-all manner. That's major! Regis will have the pleasure of calling this race. On your mark, get set, go!

REGIS: A good start for Trisha and Caroline ther're going through the net - everything looks good. (pause) Up the ramp no problem. They're over the wall. Great! Both are ahead of their times in the last heat. They're neck and neck or maybe ankle and ankle is more appropriate in this case. Even in the tires, slow and steady both make it through. What a great race this has turned out to be. Tied at the water hazard, caroline makes it across with ease. Trisha's hands slipped down the rope and her feet hit it the water. She's down. Caroline's going to win this race for Team Manolo. Trisha stands missing a shoe. She reaches down into the water hazard and fishes it out and carries it across the finish line in second place.

REGIS: (stands next to Caroline and Trisha) Caroline, the first and only clean run of the day. How did you do it?

CAROLINE: I just decided to concentrate and make sure I was accurate and fast and the strategy worked.

REGIS: And Trisha, what happened on the rope?

TRISHA: My hands slipped as I swung across the water and I hit the water. The impact was too much and one of my shoes slipped off.

REGIS: Again, what a great race. Congratulations Caroline and Team Manolo for picking up another 25 points.

VICTORIA: That's going to wrap things up for today's major edition of the Reality Shoe. In today's events, Team Manolo gained 75 points to give them a total of 590 and Team Choo gained 50 points to give them a total of 570. We now leave Atlanta and head up to Chicago for three events at Macy's Department Store downtown. See you next time on the Reality Shoe.
