Membership Development: | Commencing with a strength of 25 in 1993-94, the club grew to a size of 39 in 1997-98 with five lady members. The membership declined sharply in 1999-2000 following the exodus of all the women and a number of others due to various personal reasons, which included the transfers and relocation of many persons. The women members who were wives of our own Rotarian considered it not essential to be members of the club as long as they enjoyed all benefits and were able to fully participate in all the service activities of the Club because family involvement was given great emphasis by the Club. Members rose from 12 to 22 in July 2001 and is expected to reach 30 by the end of this year. |
Extension | Rotary Club of Trivandrum Cantonment was sponsored by the Club in 1997-98 and Rtn. PP. V. Subbarayan was the Governor's Special Representative for the same. |
Attendance Promotion | Attendance at all club meetings had been consistently above 90 % and members were keen to make up their shortfall by attending neighbouring clubs. |
Fellowship | Fellowship activities of the Club were exemplified by frequent Fireside Meetings held at members' homes and work places, Picnics, Inter-visitation of clubs in and around the city and outside and Family Exchanges under Matching Club programme. Notable family exchange programmes were those with Rotary Club of Courtallam, Rotary Club of Courtallam Central and Rotary Club of Haripad.. Participation in District Meeting continues to be good. |
Member Training | Members receive training through lectures and demonstration within the Club, besides attending the PETS, District Assembly and various membership development seminars. Rtn. PP. Dr. J.M.I. Sait prepared a handbook -ROTARY IN A NUTSHELL in 1994-95 which was highly commended by Rotarians District-wide. He made a revised and enlarged computer version under the title "A Guide to Lay Rotarians" in 1997-98. He is now working on a training course for New Rotarians to be mounted this year. In the course of the past years members of the Club have also provided inputs at PrePets, Pets, District Assembly and numerous seminars and training programmes. |
Rotary Visibility | The Club won the Best Presentation District Award for the "Inter-religious Harmony and Peace" at Rotary Windows Competition. Since then all the activities of the Club, particularly in the Community Service Avenue were being well publicized through Press and other media. Our Club was the first in the District to have its Community Service Projects broadcast over Asia Vision, Asia Net and Sun TV net works. |
