The images that are sold at Candy's Scrap Art    are created in PNG Format which is a photoshop  format .. but it can also be edited in Photoshop elements , Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7 and Ulead Photoimpact 7 & 8. you can download a free trial version of Jasc Paint Shop Pro here   or get Ulead PhotoImpact trial here Paper piecing are in PSD format also

What is a PSD file (PSD Template)? "
PSD files are generally a layered file that is proprietary to Adobe PhotoShop. However, this file format has become so popular over recent years, that many other graphic software programs (newer versions) have programmed their software to be compatible with this file format. Adobe PhotoShop is an expensive program, however, two programs that I know can open and edit PSD files which are less expensive and quite good are Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7 and Ulead PhotoImpact 7 & 8.

" How can a PSD file (PSD Template) help me? "
PSDs are useful in that they can enable the designer to change colors to an image, add image layers or remove image layers. Adding text is also easy with a PSD file, however, it is not necessary to have the PSD file to do this. It is important to note that the designer must be familiar with how to use their graphic software of choice in order to perform such tasks using a PSD file. Since there are dozens of good graphic software programs, we cannot offer specific program support.

All downloaded files are in a .zip format. To open the file, you must have a program to unzip it. We recommend Winzip. You can also find others available at Downloads.com. These are only the downloadable files on the samples free page

All images are created at 300 ppi unless otherwise noted. Resolutions of from 200-300 ppi yield great print results.

We recommend the following software programs to use for digital scrapbooking:

Microsoft Digital Image Pro - Great for beginners

Ulead Photo Impact - More complete but not as complicated to use as the high end graphics programs

Adobe Photoshop Elements - Downsized version of Adobe Photoshop (PC and Mac)

JASC Paint Shop - Great program - a little more user friendly than Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop - Great program but high learning curve (PC and Mac)

Broderbund Creating Keepsakes Scrapbook Designer - Great for the beginner digital scrapper or the paper scrapper

FAQ 5

For those paper scrappers who would like to use the digital elements sold at Candy's Scrap Art, newer versions of Microsoft Publisher are able to support transparency. Simply unzip the files, open Publisher, create a new blank page, insert from file and choose the images you would like to add to the page so that you can then print them out. We also highly recommend using Broderbund Creating Keepsakes Scrapbook Designer. You can either create full pages or just open backgrounds and/or elements to print. Paper choices will depend upon your printer, but the elements look great printed out on photo paper as well as high end inkjet papers.

Please be sure to back up all products purchased onto non-rewriteable CDs for archive purposes in case of computer failure. Candy's Scrap Art will be able to make replacement copies available only for 90 days following a purchase in case of hard drive failure or other problems. Backing up your purchases is your responsibility.
