Outings

11/21/1998 Today, we went on a nature hike at Cypress Creek Wellfield. Scouts present: Kerry B, Stephen P, Chris P, Erik P. We saw a turtle. There also was a grasshopper. Stephen saw a monarch butterfly. Kerry found another grasshopper. There was thousands of fire-ant hills. We went on the trail. I saw a magnolia tree. We found grapefruit and a crabspider. I found a plant in the shape of a star. We heard birds, but unfourtunatley we didn't see them. We came across a stream. The trail ahead was flooded. We found 2 giant locusts. On the way back, we saw a wren, butterfly, snakehole, and grasshopper. We saw plenty of fish in the lake.  We also saw a turtle and a watercricket. We also found a squirrel. We found deer, horse, and bird tracks. More locusts. Eric found a trilobite fossil and Kerry found purple grasshoppers. We saw a diamondback snake. We also found an alligator and another spider. Court of Honor / Pot Luck Dinner

05/23/1999

Location:

Land O Lakes Community Center
No charge for the meeting room. Reserve at least 1 month in advance.

Main Course:

Roast Beef donated by Cracker Barrell in Wesley Chapel. Request the main course at least 1 month in advance. We worked with the manager, Gary. Provide him with the headcount.

Kids Drinks:

The orange drink was donated by McDonalds. Reserve the orange bowl at least 1 month in advance. There is a $20 deposit.

Coffee:

The VFW, our sponsor, was nice enough to allow us to use their coffee pot. (A very important item for many adults.) We just need to ask in advance.

Notes:

In spite of being thrown together at what seemed like, the last minute, it went pretty well. We forgot salt and pepper, but seemd to have covered most of the other items. In the future, it might be nice to have tea as well (ok in my opinion as I drink tea, not coffee) :-)

The 1 act play was a little rough, as the boys needed more practice, but the message in A Good Turn came through. The awards were a little brief, so we may need more ceremony with that. Of our 5 Scouts, we awarded 5 Rank advancement and 10 merit badges.
