Parents needed to help with all activities. We need more involvement in this area

If any Parent has any skill to act as a Merit Badge Counselor please contact Mrs. Weikel

Summer Activities

This has been a very busy summer for most of our families. Because of this we have not been as busy as we would have liked to be with the Scouts. We do need more involvement of both parents and the scouts if we are going to keep the troop going.

Nathan and Chris both attended summer camp the beginning of June.

Billy, Chris, Denver, Shaun and Kevin participated in the flag ceremonies at the United Methodist Church on July 30th.

We have used the Operation First Class emblem as a theme to the newsletters until each one of the Scouts have completed First Class. I think this should be our primary goal in the coming months.

Advancement

Each boy needs to be working on his own as well as with the troop to complete the requirements for the current level of rank he is working on.

There are also a number of Merit Badges that would be perfect the boys to work on while they are working on getting to first class. Please contact Mrs. Weikel for information on advancement.

No Scout can begin working on a Merit Badge without first contacting the Advancement Chairman, Mrs. Weikel. She needs to put the Scout in touch with the Merit Badge Counselor before work begins on the badge.

Future Newsletters

We would like input from all the families and Scouts for the newsletters. If you have any announcements, birthdays etc please contact Denver or Mrs. Weikel.

This will be a bi-weekly publication.   If you have pictures or anything you would like to contribute to either the website or the newsletter please contact Denver or Mrs. Weikel.

Billy, Denver, Shaun and Kevin participated in the flag ceremony at the Midway Church on the evening of July 30th.

Denver, Shaun and Kevin participated as a color guard for the Livingston Fourth of July Parade.

We appreciate all of the hard work the boys put into these activities.

Happy Belated Birthday to Shawn.  He turned 13 on July 11th.

The manner in which the Board of Reviews are ran will also be changed. There will be no changes in the Tenderfoot Board. The Second and First class candidates will be quizzed on different aspects of the requirements for the appropriate rank. The Scout will need to review the requirements before the Board is conducted.

August Meeting Theme

The theme for August will be Compass and Orienteering.  We will be concentrating on the following requirements:

  • Second Class:  1a, 1b
  • First Class:  1, 2

Merit Badges

All Boys should currently be working on the Reading and Family Life merit badges.  The merit badge counselors are as follows:

  • Reading:  Janice Weikel
  • Family Life:  Tammy Renfro
