So you're interested in Boss Music, huh? Well, this is a basic tutorial for those new to the site, and a semi-quick recap for those who may have forgotten something.
Boss Music RPG, as you may know, has you fighting your favorite video game characters (whoever they may be) fighting against each other. First some basics. You play as an anonymous "consumer". You pick your name, and can send in a sprite of you. You also choose a video game character to start out with. You can check this under you personal section of the stats page. You get additional characters (up to 2 more) by going to their native zone and signing 'em up.(If you are in the right zone, e-mail the webmaster and ask for the character) They fight for you, and fight best with techniques. Each video game character has strength, defense, and speed, along with health points (HP). You can buy items with the video game currency, "credits", and teach abilities or improve stats with experience points.
You get credits by "scoring" (an activity) or winning a battle. Credits allow you to purchase items at the "store". Consumer items are for you and work automatically. The other items are for your heroes/villains and must be equipped by someone native to that zone (Nintendo characters equip Nintendo items. Also "Neutral" characters, like Bomberman or Ms. Pacman, can equip any zone's item). The characters native zone is after their name on your stats page. You can get experience points (exp) by "training" (another activity) or participating in a fight (winners get more exp. though) Exp. can be used to improve one of a video game character's stat by 1 (exp. cost is equal double that stat, so Strengh: 5 can be raised to 6 by paying 10 exp [or 5 X 2]). Exp. can also be used to purchase techniques for your fighters. Each character can have two techniques, but may replace one at anytime with a new one (this new one will be at a discount). Techniques are not required to fight, but recommend. Also, the site doesn't believe in complete "natural talent" (Sonic doesn't start with the technique "Super Speed" [note: it is discounted for him. When you get your character, you will be told if any techniques have a discount for it]) Also exp. can give your consumer more energy. Your total max energy doubled (E X 2) is the cost of raising it 5 points (calling a character requires half their current HP and using a technique also costs some energy)
Each consumer (aka player) starts their adventure in the "Hub" where all zones connect. They may see their location in the "map" section. They can move to any zone by asking the webmaster and telling where they want to go. If you start in the Hub, it'll take three (3) days. If you start in a zone, it will take six (6) days (because you must travel through the Hub to get there)
Now the important part of the site, the fights. During times of peace, you must pick a video game character to "defend" you. If you are attacked, this will be the one to fight for you. The defending character has an asterix by their name on their stats page. You may change the defending character at anytime by simply asking the webmaster to hook you up. You can attack someone by simply being in the same zone as them and e-mailing the webmaster, stating who you want to fight on your side. Defending characters can't attack. They must be off of the defense for at least one day to attack. The fights, unfortunatley, must be decided by the webmaster and not the players themselves. Don't fret, I've heard he's as fair as humanly possible when it comes to this. Losers lose half their credits, goto the game over screen for a week, but gain some experience points. Winners get the lost credits and gain more exp. than the loser. Unless you lose, HP and energy aren't restored. (Even then, only the HP of the slain character and the consumer's energy [if depleted] are restored. The other possible two characters aren't affected) You can regain health and energy by doing an activity (scoring or training) for any amount of time.
Whew, that took longer than expected. Well, that's the game in black and white. If you want to sign up, check the "taken" section to make sure your name and first character aren't already taken, then e-mail the webmaster telling him: your name, your first video game character, what you want raised by one and what you want lowered by one for the character (note: you must do both, not just one or the other, but you may opt to leave your character at all stats: 5). If you want your consumer to have a bio you can send one in, otherwise it's just assumed you were some nobody who got sucked into the video game world. Also, popular characters are, well, just that: popular. Therefore, if you don't do anything for two months, your consumer will be deleted in case someone wants to use your video game character(s).
