Troop 588 Canoe Overnighter - March 21-23
Troop 588 will be going on a canoe overnight trip at Raven Rock State Park in preparation
for this summer's week long excursion.
Will will leave the armory by 6:30pm on Friday March 21. We will be returning
around noon on Sunday March 22. (Float Plan)
In order to be completely prepared for next summer, it is important that the boys participate
in these warm up trips. It will build their confidence and expertise as well as be a lot
of fun!
We will be camping "on the river" so everything that is needed will be carried in the canoe.
For a list of things to bring on this trip, click here.
The troop will be providing the following equipment for this trip, click here.

Court of Honor - April 8
Parents should plan on attending the Troops Court of Honor. This
is a time where we recognize the individual achievements of each
Scout as it relates to both rank advancement and earned merit
badges. We will conduct a ceramony then followed with
a reception. All Scouts should be in a Class A
Uniform with sash. Starting time is 7 PM. I need some parent
volunteers to help with providing some of the refreshments, and to
help serve. Please contact
Sue Pelliccia if you are
available to provide refreshments or help serve or both.
Thank you! ScoutMaster

A Troop Uniform is a requirement to
participate in this troop
I have asked each scout to be in class A uniform within 90 days from
joining the troop. A class A uniform is:
- BSA Hat (Ball Cap Style, Mesh or Twill, you decide)
- BSA Shirt (long or short sleeve, you decide)
- Green Neckerchief w/ Red BSA emblem
- Neckerchief slide (standard BSA Grey/silver)
- World Scouting Emblem & Council Shoulder Patch, & Patrol Patch
- Unit Numbers 588
- Red Shoulder Loops
- Green Web Belt
- Green BSA Pants or Shorts
- Green with Red stripe socks
- Scout Handbook
I know that this can have an immediate financial impact for some
families. If this is the case, please see the
Scoutmaster. We have available resources that
can help with getting the boys into the scout uniform on a no
cost basis to the family. So please, work with your
boy and Scoutmaster to get your son in the class A.
Thank you!

Troop Dues
To help offset some of the minimal operating cost, we are asking
each scout to pay a monthly dues of $2.00. This can be
paid on a weekly basis of $.50 or once each month.
Requesting the scout to pay dues on an on going basis
provides the scout with experience in budgeting and planning.
Our troop scribe will collect and monitor all dues
and attendance and turn this information over to the committee treasure.
