Katie and Amy

How do you go about developing a story?

Amy -Well, basically in the case of this story it was a lot of Katie. She came up with the general concept and came to me afterwards. In general though, a random idea will pop into my head and I'll kind of just go with it. Maybe a particular scene or ending or even a single line will come about and I'll base a story around it. Unlike a lot of writers I don't write a story knowing exactly where I'm going with it. I usually just kind of let the fic take me where it will - I may even write one chapter with no idea of where the next one will go. Whether that is a good idea or not, I haven't decided, but it seems to have worked so far!

Katie - Amy was always so much fun to work with because I would have my ideas and she would have hers, and they always ended up just meshing so well together. With my stories I generally see a beginning and and end it's always the middle that's a little fuzzy.

Where did you find your inspiration for this particular fic?

Amy -Katie, Katie, Katie. She came up with the idea, brought it to me and asked me if I'd be interested in writing something with her. I was (of course, who wouldn't be!) and we sort of took her idea and went with it. We planned out the basic plot, what we wanted to happen, where we wanted it to go and we wrote. For the most part, we traded off writing chapters, but we always planned out the chapter together - knowing what the other was going to write.

Katie - This fic came from the observation that there were a lot of triangle stories going on at the time, but they seemed to always be two good people and one bad. So I wanted to try and write a story where all three were good people, I knew as a board we would want a PJ ending, but I was hoping at least a few people would be torn.

Why do you write Pacey and Joey fan fic?

Amy - Oh gosh. I'm not sure I've ever really thought about it. I guess it's because I feel in love with them on screen. I mean - it's hard to have watched Dawson's Creek and not have noticed the chemistry that the two shared. In the hopes of NOT sounding to corny, they kind of gave you a little bit of hope that maybe true love actually did exist. Of course, Pacey is (sadly) not real - but you have to hope that someone like him is out there waiting for you. Once the show ended, or once the pair broke up I kind of just wanted to see their relationship live on, and fan fiction definitely did that for me.

Katie- I didn't find fanfic until DC had finished it's six year run. I got the ending I wanted, and I think because of that, I wanted more. After reading for about six months, I decided to give writing a try.

As a writer, what are your plans for the future (fic world and beyond)?

Amy - I love writing fan fiction. I totally got caught up in the world, it's so difficult not to once you've been pulled into it. Lately, for me, it's hard to find the time or the inspiration to write. I'll read over my old stuff and I'll ask myself if I even have it in me to write like I used too. I'll come up with ideas but the motivation won't be there like it used to be. I've wandered into other fic genres, but have yet to find a place quite like PoTL. I hope one day I'll be able to finish all that I have unfinished. I want too...that's for sure. As for beyond the fic world, I'm not sure writing will really play a part in my life. I'm no future author, that's for sure. But the computer gives me a chance to do something I enjoy in an environment where I can actually continue to enjoy it and just have fun with it.

Katie - I love stories, and becuase of that I'm an avid reader. I love to get lost in a world different from my own. Which is I think where most people and their writing comes from. I don't see my self being an author, but I love having this kind of creative outlet in my life.

Would you like to thank anyone? Cheerleaders? Fans? Beta readers? Authors you admire?

Amy - Of course, Katie. It's sad because the last few months I have lost touch with a lot of those I used to talk with on a daily basis and I have been hard pressed to find the time. But, Katie has been with me through every step of the way - practically since I started writing fic at PoTL. She's held my hand and pushed me and been my cheerleader and my writing partner and just an amazing friend. It's really an honor to have written with her, she's got an amazing talent. Caro, whom I haven't talked to in far to long, put up with a lot of my grammer mistakes and writer's block. She was a great beta, a great writer, and a great friend. Abba and Angel, I miss you two to death. You helped me through some difficult blocks and listened to my ramblings and helped me out when I needed it. You're both amazing writers and great friends and I love for it! Maddie, Jen, Kel, Mac, Kristie, Sarah...and all you others or have inspired me in one way or another. Either with your writing or your friendship or your motivating replies. I love you all...I miss you all and I hope you all continue to write because you're so talented and amazing! MUAH! Caspian, Dannie and Rinny, Danielle, Juliet, Yoyeen, Kristi, Jann, Evie, everyone at FS and all those listed above are amazing, talented writers or have helped reel me into this world and keep me here. There's so much talent at PoTL it's both intimidating and inspiring at the same time.

Katie - I want to first thank Amy, this story would've never happened without her. She is so creative, and talented. She has been an amazing friend to me, and I loved every chance I had to write with her. Working with her made me a better writer. I would like to thank Abba, who has been a wonderful friend and obsession sharer with me. Mac who never lets me forget... anything. Angel, who always listened. And I want to thank Jen and Kristie who's unfished stories (CBI and Grace) are what are currently keeping me here. And lastly I would like to thank Evangeline, for being a true inspiration in my writing, you are wise beyond your years.
