| Soggiorno I wanted to achieve a very colorful open space with a mixture of textures
and styles. I call this project the "modern and the rustic sharing
          the same space."
A large hole was opened into the wall to function as a window with
a fixed glass, which now overlooks the sea. The window seat with pillows gives the
          feeling
of leaning over the water. I designed two triangle chairs and covered
          them
 with hand-painted fabrics.
I designed the curved and twisted pine torchiere lamp as a playful
addition to the cheerful fireplace. The mantel of the fireplace was eliminated
          and the
surrounding walls were covered with solid color tiles.
Across the fireplace, I did not want a conventional arrangement of
seating. I built a pony wall with a long masonry seat, covered with a raw silk
          cushion.
The wall ends with a series of built-in drawers also covered with a
          raw
silk fabric and brass drawer pulls.
