Melvin Frohike

Melvin Frohike (Tom Braidwood) is the short, eyeglass-sporting member of the Lone Gunmen. The fifth season episode "Unusual Suspects" showed that in 1989 he and his friend Langly met Byers at a Baltimore computer show. After the three of them tried to help a woman named Susan Modeski try to uncover a government conspiracy, they became a team. He referred to Susan Modeski by the simple term "Pretty lady." He first appeared in the first season episode "E.B.E" where he met Agent Scully for the first time and shows an attraction for her. He got Scully's phone number from Mulder in return loaning Mulder a pair of night-vision goggles. In the second season episode "One Breath" he surprised Mulder by appearing with flowers at Scully's bedside. In the second season finale "Anasazi" he summarized the atmosphere of Mulder's apartment as "Weirdness." During the fourth season episode "Memento Mori", Frohike and Langly electronically dismantled the security system of a medical center which Mulder broke into to look for more information on Scully's cancer. In the fifth season episodes "Redux" and "Redux II" he, Langly, and Byers tried to help Mulder find a cure for Scully. In the episode "Emily" he hacked into a classified database for Mulder and found the birth mother of Scully's daughter Emily. In the episode "Kill Switch", the Lone Gunmen helped Mulder and Scully investigate the murder of a computer genius.

In the X-Files movie, Frohike and the other Lone Gunmen helped Mulder sneak out of a hospital to save Scully from the black oil alien's virus.
