TRUTHS

TO ÁLVARO RIBEIRO

The sun clarifies the space. The changing sky,

rosy at the horizon and blue above,

reflects itself in the waters, blinding,

of triumphal and rich perspective.

In a cliff of the river there is arrogant

vegetation that the Spring encourages;

in another there are couples, where the brilliant sun

seasons the fruits to the complete vintage.

They hang, at the edge, a thousand rare corimbs,

in dew and light shining, clear.

Above, birds fly sweetly.

And below, even with the river, a gull

flies alone, swift, without route —

as it were an adolescent soul.
