  Zaporizhzhya State Technical University. The life story of the oldest and largest University in Zaporizhzhya goes back to 1900 when in a provincial town of Olexandrivsk a seven-year Mechanical Vocational School that trained mechanics and technicians was established. Since that time the educational establishment changed its name and status several times unit in 1994 it became Zaporizhzhya State Technical University.

  Our Native Town. Zaporozhye was founded in 1770 as a military fortress called Alexandrovsk. It's people defended the territory of Russia from Turkish invaders. It got new name only in 1927 when a Dnieper Hydroelectric power station which gave electricity to the whole region was built on the Dnieper in our city. Huge rocky rapids, which blocked the course of the Dnieper to the Black Sea were submerged and only the name of our city remends us of them.
