General Leia in Endor Poncho
(with removable helmet)

This custom Princess Leia figure is an amalgam of both the "Power of the Jedi" Leia General figure, and the Leia in Endor Poncho figure (released as part of the Toys 'R' Us "Millenium Minted Coin" collection, or with the Speeder Bike vehicle). The Leia in Endor Poncho figure features a head with a non-removable sculpted helmet, and the Leia General version is basically the same figure with a different head and the poncho removed.

I saw no reason why the Endor Leia figure couldn't have a removable helmet (and a removable poncho, for that matter), so I made the necessary modifications to mine; a simple custom job, considering that only the head was changed.

The head I used to replace the helmeted one was taken from a Hoth Leia figure, which fortunately represented the hairdo Carrie Fisher also wore during much of Return of the Jedi . The heads were exchanged using the popular "boil and pop" technique, and the helmet was cut off of the original Leia Poncho figure and carefully hollowed out using a Dremel.

Like the Endor Luke custom helmet I made, I had to resculpt the lower edges of this helmet where it wraps around the figure's face, and then repaint the edges to match the rest of the helmet. The helmet was then sprayed with a couple layers of dullcoat to even out the finish. I really should've made an elastic chin strap for this helmet, too.

Before the Power of the Jedi line was released, the so-called "Rebel Fleet Gear Leia" (as pictured above right) was a popular custom job, but since Hasbro has now released a virtually identical carded version (left), there didn't seem any point in making my own... So I went a step further, and gave my General Leia both a removable helmet AND a removable poncho.
