Thewphaingarm School English Program:
What it is and what it offers

In 1999, Thewphaingarm School was granted the approval by the Ministry of Education to establish an English program. It was then that the Thewphaingarm School English Program, or TSEP, was created. TSEP has many aspects and goals to its English program, such as:
1. Here in TSEP, 80% of the student’s classes are in the English language and taught by native speakers of English from such countries as the United States, Australia, Canada, England, and New Zealand. The other 20% consists of Thai language, culture, and history as well as any review classes given by the Thai teachers to assist the students in their other subjects. This will enable your child to learn the English language quickly and effectively, as well as continuing with their own language and culture.
2. The subjects within the curriculum are very similar to those in the Thai curriculum. This enables a student attending Thewphaingarm’s regular program to easily transfer over to TSEP. Though TSEP can be rigorous, it also can facilitate a new student at any level.
3. If the number of students exceeds a classroom’s capacity, the class will be split into two separate classrooms with two sets of teachers. Each classroom has one Thai and one foreign teacher as the homeroom teachers. This ensures that your child is given the amount of attention that he or she needs to grow and learn at school.
4. Graduates of our program will have the ability to study abroad without an English language barrier. They will be able to pursue their education in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, or Britain. TSEP staff will assist them as they reach Matayom to prepare for studying abroad, whether it be language skills or standardized test.
5. The ages between 6 and 18 years old are important for children and their development. TSEP recognizes that there are a lot of advantages for your children if they receive an international education utilizing the strengths of various national curriculums. Yet, we do take into consideration Thai culture and educational expectations. Therefore, instead of sending a child to an international school or abroad to study in these formative years, the children at our school will be able to keep their language, culture and history, as well as be socialized within their own society. It helps to create a foundation of friends and community that will serve them well in the future.
6. Students who graduate from the TSEP program will be eligible to enter a Thai university as well as a foreign one. Classes and curriculum here are designed to fit both these types of education.
