The list of graves of Clark Cemetery in Cass County, Illinois were provided by Carol Orwig of Illinois. A special thanks to Carol Orwig for the source material. There are Graves located in Clark Cemetery that are not listed in this listing but they are there. I do not know why, except to say that it is a blessing to have this list at all. It is incomplete but has been a major help in research, and am gratefull for it.

(116) COWNOVER NE¼ of SW1/4 of Sec 36, Tl7N R10W 3PM The land upon which this graveyard lies was entered from the government by Peter Cownover on 18 Sep 1826. Some members of his family were buried here on the farm, as was the custom of the early settlers, because there were no church or city cemeteries in existance then. Apparently wooden crosses were used to mark the graves as no stone monuments are in evidence now.

(117) DAVIS. EDWARD NW¼ of SW1/4 of Sec 7, Tl7N R10W 3PM Reference - 1870 Cass County plat book. The land this cemetery is on was owned by Mr. Davis in the late 1800’s. No evidence of the cemetery remains.

(118) FREEMAN SE1/4 of NW1/4 of Sec 2, Tl7N R10W 3PM Only a gravestone base rock was remaining of this cemetery in Sep 1963. Mr. J. N. Gridley in his book "Historical Sketches" writes of this cemetery: "Mr. L. B. Freeman on the 30 Jun 1830, entered the land upon which the graveyard is situated. On the north end of his farm upon a ridge in a grove of timber, in the month of September, 1835, the year before the town of Virginia was platted, he buried a daughter, Parilee, age 6y-6m-6d. Other members of the Freeman family were here buried, but later, were removed to the Walnut Ridge Cemetery". Mr. Gridley recorded the following stones when he visited here in 1906 or 1907:
