Photographs are of Mason and Fannie Davis. Photo was graciously provided by Mr. Boyce W Davis of Prescott, AZ. Mason Oliver Davis was born January 23, 1897 in Navarro Co. Texas. His Parents were Charles Edward Davis and Sarah Annie (Roberts)Davis. Mason Davis married Fannie Elaine McWhorter on December 30, 1917 in Elbert, Throckmorton County, Texas. Fannie Elaine McWhorter was born on October 16, 1899 in Denton, Texas. Mason and Fannie Davis had moved to Baylor County, Texas between 1917 and 1919 along with Mason's parents family and family of A. N Davis, brother of Mason Davis, and Cye Davis another of Mason's brothers. I do not know how long the Davis families lived in Baylor County, Texas. Charles Edward Davis their dad had received an inheritance in that general time frame and he converted that into a down payment on a section of land in Floyd County, Texas probably in 1925 and start up costs for their new farm. It must have taken at least a year and a half or perhaps two from the time he received the inheritance sold the land he inherited, made down payment on a new farm, and dug or drilled the water well there and built a house for them all to plant first crops and prepare for their first harvests. The year that seems prevalent as Mom recounts would be 1925 or 1926 possibly for move and first crop planting. Charles Edward Davis and sons, Alvah, Mason, Cyrus farmed the section and made payments on it over the years untill it was paid off.
