This is Nancy Davis reference page. Collects sources for assumption that she was daughter of James B Davis.
I suspect Nancy Davis was a daughter of James B Davis and Elizabeth Hawkins of Cass County, Illinois due to the inscription on the Memorial Tombstone for Elizabeth (Hawkins) Davis in Clark Cemetery, Cass County, Illinois. The inscription reads "Elizabeth Davis & Nancy Davis".

. I assume the "& Nancy Davis" refers to a daughter.
2..Copy of 1830 Census for Jessamine Co., Ky, North Liberty, Page 212A, as to number of children and age groups suggests two daughters Nancy and Martha Davis not previously assumed.

Biographical Sketches of Monroe Precinct on Richard L Davis, Cass County, Illinois. From History of Cass County, ed, William Henry Perrin, O. L. Baskin & Co. Historical Publishers, 1882, Chicago, Cass County, reprinted in 1968. Reference the third line on the page, "Richard L being the seventh child of the family of whom four are deceased." Inclusion of Nancy Davis as daughter of James B Davis and Elizabeth Hawkins and with a date of birth of between 1810 and 1815 brings the total of James B Davis and Elizabeth Hawkins children born prior to Richard L. Davis (b 1826) to six. Richard L. Davis would be the seventh child as cross correlated with 1830 Census, History of Cass County article on Richard L Davis. I do not know when the original History of Cass County article reprinted in 1968 was written since the year of 1882 in referece for it is probably the year the company was founded and it makes a difference as to reference preceeding this reference, "of whom four are deceased". I assume Nancy Davis their daughter was one of the four children mentioned because of the Grave Stone inscription on Elizabeth Davis memorial in Clark Cemetery.

The obituary news article on Edward Davis indicated James B and Elizabeth Davis were the parents of 13 children. This adds a little confusion as this article does not agree with Mrs. Autumn Cox or Carolyn Pillows report and biographical sketch on Richard Davis that indicates they were the parents of 12 children. I suspect the obituary article may be in error on this one point but do not know. I also think besides Nancy being one of the deceased children mentioned in the Richard Lee Davis biographical sketch, William, John and the Unknown child comprised the four deceased mentioned in that article.
