Waiting For You

Not too long ago my mother's boss decided to buy a new work place since their veterinary clinic was too small for their growing popularity. Little House Animal Hospital used to be a little white house with a wooden fence surrounding it, but now is an old plantation mansion with proud white pillars and mossy red brick steps leading to the front door. The building has the original flooring (Wooden and brick) as well as two chimneys. There are two stories and a basement way to creepy for me to dare venture into. Downstairs there are exam rooms, a surgical room, and the dog ward. However, upstairs is where the cats reign supreme. I have heard stories from my mother's co-workers about a white witch that watches from the windows or trails in front of you while you go from room to room. My mothers boss's husband was painting the upstairs and was chilled to the bone when he came down because he thought he'd heard his wife say something and found out that she hadn't. Later we were told by a client that he and a few friends had done a séance in that very house, when they did this, they reported that there was indeed a witch haunting the house. While this is all hunky dory I've never found going upstairs pleasant. Every time I've gone up stairs I've felt someone's eyes burning into my back and the rooms dropping temperature. I never liked the feeling of being watched but what made it worse was that I'd get sick to my stomach and nearly faint. The effects would worsen when I'd come back down stairs because I'd notice that my energy would be completely depleted and I'd have a touch of vertigo for the rest of the day. While my mother claims that I'm making up excuses to get out of working so hard, she can't deny that I feel something when I come back downstairs pale faced and swaying.

A Soldier Came Home

My husband and I were living on Fort Benning, in somewhat older housing. Our house was up on Arrowhead Road, a fairly quiet area. It was early one morning in 2002 me, my husband, and our 2 young children were all still in bed. My husband had the day off, if he had to work he would've been gone already. I woke up to the sound of our wooden screen door creaking open, then the front door knob begin to turn. Just to make sure my husband was still in bed I touched his hand, well he grabbed hold of mine and whispered "what is going on"? We both just laid still as the door shut, chain went on, and the heavy boot steps began slowly coming down the hall. The steps came all the way to our bedroom door and just stopped. Complete silence. My husband laid there stiff as a board for a good 5 minutes before he got up to see what was going on. The problem was that there was nothing to see. Things had been happening in the house since right after we moved in but most of the time my husband wasn't present. I guess our "visitor" wanted to make itself known to my husband as well. From that day on my husband has not doubted any strange goings on that I tell him about.

First Time

My sister's husband passed away a couple of years ago in their home. He had Cancer and decided that he wanted to spend what time he had left with their 3 children. The cancer was so bad that there was nothing that they could do for him. On June 15, 2006 he passed away at 3:16am. My sister had told me later on that day that she and his brother (who was staying with her so she didn't have to be alone) fell asleep on the couch. She said that the T.V. which was left on but muted kicked on full blast then went back to mute a few minutes before he passed on. The good thing was is that we had taken my sisters kids 2 days before so they wouldn't have to see their daddy like that. There was always someone there with him trying to help my sister take care of him. Which was a good thing. They helped take care of getting him out of there with out everyone causing a scene. I stayed with my sister that night. At 3:16am a cold air filled the living room, which was where he had passed away. I looked up from where I was sleeping on the couch and looked behind me to see a figure waving. Then disappeared. Things didn't seem to really happen to anyone except for the kids. They would hear a little keyboard that they had playing in the middle of the night, and see someone in there room. They would hear the words I love you in their ears in the middle of the night. They would even talk to him during the day. They said that he was there and playing trucks with them. Then one day we seen a truck move and no one was around that toy truck. Then one night I was watching the kids for my sister to let her go out. I went to go to sleep when my niece walked in and asked if she could sleep with me, I told her of course. She had to leave the bathroom light on. When she finally fell a sleep I looked over at the wall and seen my brother-in-law once again. He waved and then it looked as if he was walking down stairs. To this day you can hear blue grass music playing, see shadows on the wall of a person, hear footstep, and him talking. He is staying to make sure everything is okay with my sister and the kids.

Haunted Changi Chalet

Three of my girlfriends and I booked into a chalet in Changi - this was many years ago and those chalets, the old bungalow types, are not there anymore - and that was when we had the fright of our lives. We aren't superstitious people and since that incident we have tried to explain away what happened, but that night you couldn't blame four teenage girls for being scared to be alone in a chalet in lonely Changi with hardly anyone else around. I remember that we asked the keeper if the place was haunted, because it looked so creepy from the outside. He never made any reply, making it all the more creepier. It made us a bit more sorry that we hadn't invited any boys along to stay with us - this was supposed to be a sort of pajama party. Anyway, we managed to settle in after a while - no barbecue, we had decided that by consensus, and we were starting to get chatty and beginning to make some noise when one of the girls said she heard the front doorbell ring. From where we were in the living room we could see the porch outside. There was no one there so we thought she must have been mistaken. She too said, yes, we were right, she must have imagined it. We were chatting away again, chewing the cud, rather loudly I might add, when she said, "There it goes again." This time we were all quiet and looking hard at the porch from where we were. There certainly was no one there. We could see the porch clearly from where we were. If there were anybody out there ringing the doorbell, we should have been able to see the person for sure. So what could she have heard? Then all of us heard it. Loud and clear. It was the doorbell. One of the girls screamed but we quickly hushed her. Then we heard it again, and again and again, each time getting louder and more insistent as if someone was angry and demanding to be let in. We didn't know what to do. Everybody froze. All our eyes were fixed on the empty porch where the buzzer was. After a little more of the insistent ringing, the bell stopped. Then we heard it. The back door was creaking open. All of us screamed and ran out through the front door. We didn't stop running until we reached the next chalet. We banged on the door, thumping away without caring about anybody, afraid like hell. The man who opened the door was in his pajamas and he looked a bit nervous. All of us pushed past him and stumbled into the living room. There were four other men there, all of them also like the one who had opened the door. They were seated around the table and they clearly had been gambling. " Uncle, uncle," we cried, explaining what had happened and begging to be allowed to stay in this chalet with them for the night. They looked at each other as if they thought we were mad, but finally one of them said, okay, we could stay. I can tell you, that night we hardly got any sleep. When one of the girls wanted to go to the loo, she forced me to go along and stand guard outside. From where I was, I could hear her singing Amazing Grace to give herself courage while doing her business.

Breathing

I moved into a nice house a couple of years ago, and my kids decided they really liked a ghost trackers show and wanted to try ghost hunting out themselves. They looked into the crawlspaces and the storage areas and pretended that they saw ghosts. After a while, they got bored of ghost hunting and stopped. My oldest daughter told me they were just pretending. But one day, I went into my bedroom and thought I heard a noise. Out of instinct, I held my breath and listened. I heard a raspy breathing noise. My kids were all outside and my husband was at work. I heard this noise many times when I went into my bathroom. I also saw a bluish-white blob in some of the pictures I took in my house. (Sorry, but I panicked and deleted these photos.) I don't hear these noises anymore, but I'm still a little freaked out.

The Bloody Woman

One night me and my bud were having a sleep over. Now we weren’t all for the ghost thing. But on this night we WERE gonna believe. It was about 10 o’ clock, my parents were asleep and we were awake watching tv until 12 o’ clock then my friend said he heard something but I thought he was being an idiot until he told me to listen up and we muted the tv for about ten minutes hoping we would hear something but we didn’t so we just decided to go up to bed. While going up the stairs I then heard a noise coming from the kitchen and my friend heard it too so we looked at each other, scared as heck but we knew we had to check it out so we grabbed a buck knife and went back down stairs it was then about 12:20 so we were walking really slow and quiet to the kitchen until we came to the corner of the living room and the kitchen and then we froze to see if we could hear anything. It seemed like the sound was like someone going threw a drawer so we decided to go in the kitchen and that’s when we saw what we called the bloody woman and that’s when we screamed and ran into my parents room and woke them up but when they came to check it out she was gone and ever since then we never saw her again.

The Bathroom Experience

About four years ago I lived in an apartment in Palmer, MA with my mother and my sister. For some reason I used to always be afraid of the apartment at night and when I was home alone. Every night I would usually wake up to use the bathroom. The bathroom was right across from my room. I could see the door because my bed was facing it. So, anyways one night I woke up and the bathroom light was on, so I figured my mom or sister was in the bathroom. Soon I heard the toilet flush and the sink turn on. After that the door opened a little bit, I watched for awhile waiting for someone to come out of the bathroom so that I could use it. I waited five minutes for somebody to come out but nobody ever did so I got up and went in the bathroom. Nobody was in there I checked inside the shower and nobody was there. I was so scared. I went straight to my room and hid under my covers. Nothing really else happened after that except for me and my sister hearing people walking around upstairs in the attic, but I will never forget what happened at that apartment. Since then I have not had any other experiences and we moved out of that apartment.

The Upstairs Room

I want to start off by saying that even though there are 4 people who live in my home I am the only one who lives there that has experienced anything. Maybe I am more sensitive to it or maybe its that everyone else firmly does not believe in ghosts. I have had friends see things and have some experiences though. Things have always gone on in my house. I lived there my entire life, I have never moved. (Until now). My parents are still together after 35 years and inherited this house from an uncle. My mom says that even when I was a baby I would cry uncontrollably at night after they would put me to bed. She contributed this to my being a whiny child. When I got older I would not be alone in any room of the house. I would complain of things happening. Ghosts, basically. Even though I was too young to know what this was. I began to get so frantic at night my mom would place a chair outside of my door and read until I would fall asleep. Shortly after she would get up I would come complaining of things tugging on the covers and that someone was in my room. I would put pillows all around me and over my feet so the "witches" wouldn’t get me. She eventually gave up and began to let me sleep in the bed with her and my father. Poor them. I was so afraid of my room that I slept on the floor of my parent’s room until I was 12. Then I moved to my own room upstairs. Here is where my friends come in. Everyone hated to stay in the room even though it was a cool room. My dog hated it and only stayed by force. She would snarl and bark all night at random times. 2 years ago, I was 28. yes 28 and still at home. I'm in college, so it's rent free ok people. Anyway I began having terrible nightmares. I hated going into my room and was afraid to put my back to the room. I shoved my bed against the corner so I would have my left side covered and only had to worry about the right side. It started with scratching noises. It went on for a while. I would get out of bed and do a thorough check. I put out mouse traps. Nothing. When I would hear it it was always after the lights went out. If a light was on it would mostly keep quiet. After a few months of this my bed began to shake. After a few months of this I began to wake up suddenly. Out of a dead sleep I would shoot awake. One night I was sleeping and woke up suddenly. I didn’t move. On my wall was a red light fanning over the wall. I was kinda confused. I used to have a phone that when it was turned on silent a red light would glow. So I was wondering who would be calling me this late at night. When I reached out to answer it the light went out. I then remembered that I hadn’t had that phone for over 6 months. I turned over onto my back and there a green light was dancing across my ceiling. Although things had been going on this was the first time something in me told me to get the hell out. I also noticed that it was steaming hot in my room although it was winter time and usually freezing in my room. I grabbed my dog, who by this time was 12 years old. So she’s blind, deaf and used to the things in my room. She had never moved poor thing. I grabbed her and ran. I refused to go up there again. My parents gave me a hard time but I would not be swayed. I set up shop in an old room downstairs. It took about two weeks for things to start again. Once some one turned off my fan and then turned it back on again. The activity got so bad I began to sleep with not only a bible, but a rosary and holy water. One night I was laying with a friend in bed goofing off with my new puppy. (my sweet little bit had passed away) the puppy quit playing, all his hair stood up and he began to growl at the corner. aww.. his first growl. He got more and more upset, he then screamed and peed. He hid under my arm. I again noticed how hot the room was. By then I was petrified of the room. I was having terrible nightmares about something pulling the covers off of me. One afternoon I was alone in the house taking a nap. I was fast asleep when I distinctly felt someone brush past me. I almost crapped. I flipped over to where I could look out into the room. The way this room is situated I can see directly into the living room. I saw a black form walk through the living room. I got up immediately and went to see who was home. I was alone. Not long after this happened the whole family was home and asleep. I was in the new downstairs bedroom. I heard my mom hollering my name. I sat up and saw her run toward the stairs then she doubled back and ran toward where I was really sleeping. She was still hollering my name and she was crying. She flipped on the light and stood in the doorway. I asked her what was the matter, since the whole house had been so quite. She said she woke to me hollering for her help. She heard me screaming her name at the top of my lungs. She heard it the whole time she was looking for me. She first thought I was upstairs because of all the noise she heard up there, but then remembered where i really was when she hit the stairs. This happened on 2 different occasions. Both times I had been having a nightmare. My mom still insists I'm crazy. That was the last time I slept there for almost 8 months. I moved in with my cousin. I still have things happen when I go home but at my cousins I am fine. There are more but I feel like I already went on long enough.

What Went Bump In The Night!!!!

It all happened one night I was sleeping over at my dad's for the weekend. So I watched T.V. with my stepsister and got tired and said," I'm going to bed." So I went in the front room where there was a sofa bed and laid down. Later on that night I heard the side door of the den open. And then I heard someone start to walk towards me. Boom! Boom! Boom! and right when the footsteps got to me I felt a cold wind blow across my face. My eyes were shut tight. I just laid and prayed until I fell asleep. The next day I told my dad and he said, "An old couple stayed in the house and died there." I never slept in there again.

PRU (Paranormal Reconnaissance Unit)

By Apaullo Adalere Robertson, Ghosthunter, P.R.U. (Paranormal Reconnaissance Unit)

Disclaimer: Parts of this story has been fictionalized to protect our clients. Apaullo.

PRU gets a call from Maggie. Maggie is actually the lovely Maggie Clara Baker. She lives in SJB and she lives with ghosts. Holly D. that will be the lead investigator for this case sets a date for the HPI core members to investigate. The date is June 21, 2008.

Michele S. Researcher & Investigator briefs Holly with the following:

"SJB Mission was built by the Spanish clergy in 1797. It was the 15th Mission in California and the largest mission. Before the Spaniards built the mission, the land of SJB was the home of the Mutsun Tribe of Indians. The Mutsun were hunter/gatherers or (Digger) Indians. Before the arrival of the Spanish, the Mutsun lived in small mud adobe huts in villages. Because the adobes were erected without roofs, the structures were mostly destroyed by the elements. At one time, the Mutsuns living at the mission numbered around 3000. Unlike the dismal fate of most natives in California, the Mutsuns were able to survive due to the fact that the missions were considered sanctuary. Violence, starvation, and disease were not as prevalent as it was in other areas of the state. The spiritual practices of the Mutsuns were banished and they were taught to practice Christianity. The last surviving pure blooded Mutsun Indian died in 1930 and she is buried at the Indian cemetery next to the mission church.

Jose Castro, of the Mexican Army, (or American Army if you want to be technical as Mexico owned California at that time) built the "Castro House" and then the Breen family bought the property in the 1840's. The Breen family was survivors of the Donner party. Their son John brought home $10,000 worth of gold dust and the family was able to buy the house and property in SJB.

Because of the long and rich diversity and history of SJB, there are several varieties of architecture there including Adobe, Spanish, Italian, English, and others. George Chalmers was an architect in the town and built several properties there. He also had a brother, Robert, who is the famous ghost of Coloma's Vineyard House."

Holly gathers her team of investigators, they are: Bryan C, Michele S, and of course me. Apaullo Adalere Robertson. Michele brought her boyfriend Scott Y. for support.

Holly shows up at my house and we pile in Holly's vehicle for the road trip to SJB from Elk Grove. To make the passing of time bearable we threw on some Fergie. If you make a road trip to SJB from the Northern part of California, make sure to stop at Pea Soup Andersons at 376 Avenue of Flags in Buellton, CA. Check out their website at www.peasoupandersens.net They have a great tourist shop inside their restaurant. We stopped for refreshments and to stretch. After taking our roadside break, we were ready to roll. One unusual incident happened to us on the way down to SJB. Holly who is a sensitive and works directly for Sylvia B. felt a feeling of dread as we went through Pacheco Pass. She had this sinking feeling that she could not overcome until we were completely out of the Pacheco Pass area.

From what I know of Pacheco Pass is that it was on the original Butterfield Overland Mail stagecoach route which connected the American Midwest with San Francisco all the way to 1858, until the Transcontinental Railroad was built. The pass is named after Francisco Perez Pacheco. Another name for Pacheco Pass is Robber's Pass, due to the many stagecoach hold-ups.

The first person I interviewed was waitress Susanna Lopez of La Poblanita Mexican Restaurant. She tells me that the park near her house, the swing would start swinging by itself, usually at 11pm. The swing moves when there is no wind. It seems that the swing moves by itself almost every night. In the home she lives in, her boyfriend once felt a cold spot near his body. Her boyfriend's sister has been pushed during the middle of the night. She has seen a little girl at the building near her home. She has even seen a light in the night sky that was large and as she watched it, it became smaller. This was an interesting story and I will later learn by the end of the day, that almost everyone in this town has witnessed something that was considered paranormal. It makes sense, since this town has seen its share of tragedy. For example, a Mexican stranger came into town in 1886 and went to the Plaza Hotel. He looked ill. Later it was learned he brought in smallpox to the town. 300 people of this town died of smallpox.

As we explored this town, I learn that on 1st and Washington Street, there is a phantom stagecoach that is seen. At the Cement Plant, people have claimed to have seen Shadow People. I shouldn't forget that while I was interviewing Susanna Lopez. On this day, there was lightning and a quick rain. As fast as the thunderstorm came, it went. The only thunder I could hear was from the car show in this town and the many, many motorcycles that rumbled down the street. The Chicano Style Motorcycle Club made their presence known. I decided to interview another person on the street that didn't want to be identified and she told me that a certain house blows smoke from the chimney on a certain day in October and there is no one living in the house. She had me walk with her and she pointed the house to me.

It was now time for a briefing from Maggie and her boyfriend Roger L. Miller. Here is what came out from the briefing. Doors have opened and closed by themselves. One time the door slammed shut on the owner of this home. They have seen the door move 6 or 8 inches on its own. They have heard the door knob making a clicking sound, as if someone was turning it. Roger felt like he was touched on one particular night. The children of this home feel like something is trying to go through their bedroom door. The air gets thick at times. One time a head was peeking around the doorway. A tall black thin shadow person was seen at the doorway. The bathroom and the one bedroom seem to have the most activity. I have to admit, that when I went into the bathroom by myself, there seem to be an electrical charge in the air. Their home is 102 years old, so it has a lot of history. Holly feels something dreadful happened on that stairwell and one of the neighbors remembers a story about a murder that occurred, possibly on that stairwell. It is rumored that a butcher shop once was located downstairs and that some of the employees of this butcher shop lived in the rooms that is now part of this apartment complex. They have been told that a portal goes from their bedroom to the church. Odors have been detected in this home, like a man's body odor and later they smelled Bay Rum cologne. Below this home may be a tunnel that leads to the mission. There was a lady that died at Cutting Horse, she was stabbed to death and her presence may be in their home.

Our next stop was the Cutting Horse Steakhouse and Saloon on 307 Third Street. Ghosthunters get hungry and we all got our fill on some tasty cheeseburgers and fries. We topped it off with a strong delicious Cappuccino shot. If you come to SJB, you must stop at the Cutting Horse. They serve Skirt Steak plate marinated in Jack Daniels and grilled to order. Or try their Bullrider which is an open faced prime rib sandwich covered in cheddar cheese, onions, mushrooms and a secret sauce! Other items on their menu are: Ranch Steak Sandwich, Cowboy Sloppy Joe, Cutting Horse Club, Calamari Sandwich, Cowgirl Chicken Sandwich, Chicken Caesar Wrap, Half Pound Kobe, Black Angus Cobb Salad and a zillion other delicacies. My god, the food is delicious, plus the place is filled with history! The Lady in White (former madam of this town) haunts their establishment. She has been seen on the stairwell and sometimes appears as a skeletal face with long blonde hair. She is known to move about from the Cutting Horse to Posada de San Juan Hotel. The Taylors that are former owners of Cutting Horse walked into their restaurant and were sprayed water from a hose. After they got sprayed they watched the hose reattach itself to the wall. Cutting Horse is located over the town's former hangman's tree. Near this restaurant during the 1800s a drunken Mexican with a gun, shot Manuel Butron who was an epileptic. He shot Manuel through his chest. Manuel survived and his epileptic fits stopped. The man that shot him was taken to The Alameda's willow tree and hung. Bryan Nohl, owner of the Cutting Horse took us into the tunnel under the restaurant. At one time this tunnel leads to the mission. The tunnel is now blocked off by a wall, due to the 1906 earthquake. San Juan Bautista sits on the San Andreas fault line. I went into the tunnel and you really feel closed in. Cutting Horse is a very interesting place and you feel like you are part of the Cutting Horse family, because the owners are very hospitable. Make sure to tell Christine Dreifuss and Bryan Nohl (owners) hi for me, if you decide to visit their establishment. Ask Christine and Bryan about the female skeletal face that some of their customers have seen in the mirrors. If you seen this skeletal face, ask for a Cappuccino shot quickly to pump up your heart if it stops beating. They do make the best Cappuccino shot! I had one and perked me up immediately!

Everything in SJB is in walking distance. You can see the haunted Plaza Hotel, you can visit Mission SJB (rumored to have residual haunting activity at this mission). There is the mission cemetery where 4300 mission Indians were buried on sacred ground in unmarked graves. At the mission is a statue of Fray Junipero Serra who was born on 1713 and died in 1784. He is the founder of all of the California missions.

Another place that is haunted is Bakery Groceries on 319 Third Street. Then there is the phantom man that walked into Mrs. B's Z-Place and vanished.

As I walked around town, the stories seemed to be focused on the Cutting Horse. I heard more stories on how water in the sink started sloshing back and forth by itself. How many customers have felt a presence at the Cutting Horse. Women customers have felt something was with them as they walked into the woman's bathroom. Sometimes the bathroom door is held shut as a woman customer is trying to leave the bathroom. Back in the 1800s, Deanna the madam of a brothel was the town celebrity. Many people believe that the skeletal woman with long blonde hair is Deanna. Stories abound how 4 people walked into the Cutting Horse and they all saw the skeletal faced woman with long blonde hair. There is even a mural on the wall of this hotel of what looks like a skeletal faced woman. Ask Christine and Bryan to point out the mural to you.

A little girl that would come to the Cutting Horse with her mom would refuse to sit in one end of the restaurant, because she said a little girl was there. This little girl is seen all around town, they call her Diana. She looks to be about 5 years old. The little girl that I will call Britney who saw Diana walked into a room and the lights went off, then when she left the room, the lights went back on again. While we did our investigation at this restaurant, Bryan Coleman was picking up a 100 reading on his temperature gauge in the bathroom areas.

Another haunted establishment is Daisy's Saloon. Heidi Perez who is a bartender of this establishment has felt presences at this saloon late at night. She has felt a presence brush up against her body. She showed Bryan Coleman and I, the storage area where employees have felt a strong presence. In the 70s, this building caught fire and they rebuilt it back to its original glory. Adella Johnson a customer of Daisy's Saloon showed Bryan and I, La Casa Rosa, another haunted establishment. This is where a phantom prostitute smokes cigarettes. Customers of this establishment will smell the cigarette smoke for a few minutes, and then it will dissipate. The former mayor of SJB named John Hopper approached us and said that he has heard strange sounds that originate in the back area of this saloon. He has felt cold chills.

Another person we interviewed was Mary Lopez. Mary Lopez is the owner of many of the establishments in this town, including the Posada de San Juan, buildings of Cutting Horse and Poblanita Cantina. Mary even owns the residence that we are investigating. Mary has had many paranormal experiences. She has heard strange sounds, she has heard the ghostly giggles of children, and she has seen a thin man with black trench coat and black hat walking through the lobby of her hotel and then vanished. Another time, she saw the same phantom. She once hired an artist for her hotel that was painting the Virgin Mary and he smelled the odor of perfume and felt a warmth next to him, as he lay in bed. He heard church bells while lying in bed, but there were no church bells around. On another day, he saw the table move on its own into an incline. Mary explains that one time a guest in Room 117, smelled smoke in the room and when he awakened from his sleep, he saw many apparitions standing around his bed. He closed his eyes and reopened them and still saw the apparitions standing around his bed. Finally the smell of smoke was gone and the apparitions were gone.

After talking with Mary Lopez, it was time to see other haunted places like the Mariposa Tea Room Restaurant. Since this place was closed, I did another interview with resident Carmen Simmons. Carmen has lived in SJB for 3 years. She lives on Thomas Lane by the agriculture fields. Her home is a newly built home that was built over a school yard. She says that an older lady lives in her home. The house makes strange creaky sounds. The cabinets have opened and closed by themselves. She has seen a full body apparition of the older woman. The older woman did not try and communicate with her. I met her husband Mike Simmons who has never experienced anything paranormal, but he believes his wife's story. Perhaps Carmen is a sensitive and can pick up on things that regular guys like Mike Simmons and I, can't see. She is a native from San Jose. She is not new to the paranormal. She has had experiences at her parent's home. At this home, a blanket was thrown over a light, causing a small fire and the entities of the house seemed to warn her of the danger.

When I finally thought we were through for the evening. I had to head over to Daisy's Saloon at 213 3rd Street at 2am by myself, because the rest of the team was worn out and tired. I interviewed the owner Dan Thomas and his employee Linda Thomas. While I conducted my interview, I was busy taking digital photographs and using my digital audio recorder to see if I could pick up any EVPs. Dan & Linda explained to me that one morning they came back into Daisy's Saloon and found 2 martini glasses and shaker sitting on the bar. This was unusual, because they never leave anything on the bar after they clean up in the evening. Another night the sheriff contacted Linda and told her that the alarm had been set off, because there was movement in the bar. When Linda and the Sheriff showed up to the bar, there was no one in the bar. There was no explanation on what could have caused the movement during after hours at their bar. History of the bar is that a man was shot and killed near the entrance of the bar. During the weekends, this bar is packed, it's a very fun and festive bar. Plus, it's haunted!

SJB is rich with ghostly activity, it's a smorgasbord for ghosthunters. We investigated the Cutting Horse and the private residence. Now it's time for us to evaluate that information and see what we discovered.

Added in Information:
On Sunday, Maggie asked if I would bless her home. Maggie walked with me as we attempted to send any entities towards the light. At some point of time, Maggie looks at me and says..."do you smell that? Do you smell a fragrance?" I was stunned and said..."oh my god!" Because if you have a successful blessing, you will smell a sweet fragrance, this indicates that angels are now present in the home, protecting the family and the home. Then Maggie and I looked around the corner and it was Holly putting on some perfume. We had to all laugh.

Added Information from Michele S:
My most memorable paranormal experience was witnessing shadow people running in the field next to the car I was sitting in in Covelo. When I learned about the cemetery on the grounds of the mission, and the fact that over 4000 bodies of the Mutsun Indians were buried in a space half the size of a typical city lot, I was intrigued. I thought that if I were to witness shadow people again, this would be as good a place as any.

My boyfriend Scott and I went down the steps to a trail just below the 12 foot stone wall that is literally holding in the bones of thousands of dead Mutsun Indians. Below even further is acres of farm land on top of the San Andreas Fault. We laid down a blanket and waited and listened. There were faint sounds of footsteps and the endless crackle of weeds and branches. We sat there in the dark for about 45 minutes when Scott sat up suddenly and said shaken, "What the?..." I reacted also. He said that he heard a voice behind us in what sounded like someone saying "Shhhh..." I didn't hear it and when I went through my audio recordings, I was unable to find the sound. We sat there a little longer and I suddenly remembered a story that I read about sightings of a mountain lion around the Plaza area of the mission. The sightings happened for about 10 years and became a sort of a local legend. In 1971, the legend became reality when the Department of Fish and Game shot and killed a mountain lion on the property. The stuffed body of the lion is on display at the museum in the stables. My paranoia got the better of me. We decided that hanging out in the wilderness in mountain lion country wasn't such a great idea without a campfire, so we relocated to the plaza and sat on a pew outside of the mission, near the entrance to the cemetery. I am not afraid of ghosts and the paranormal but what I am afraid of are man eating wild animals. Across the Plaza was the old Zanetta house. There, on the porch, I saw several shadows in the corner of my eye. Scott saw one fairly close to us between two pillars. At one point, we heard a bang on the roof and what sounded like something large walking on the roof. Scott walked into the plaza and started snapping pictures of the roof. What he got was a gray cat. Great debunking Scott! At another point, Scott decided to take a walk along the wall of the cemetery and see if he could get any pictures there and find a good vantage point to take pictures of the inside of the cemetery itself. About ten minutes later, he came running to when I was sitting. I asked him what was wrong and he said that he was being chased by a bat. I actually did see a small bat flying around his head but it disappeared when Scott sought shelter under the roof of the mission. There was the occasional sound of footsteps on the wooden walkway surrounding the mission and constant shadows across the way but other than that, it seemed the souls here were for the most part, at rest and at peace.

The Shock

I was a small girl my parents and I went to India to visit my grandmother when I first went there I encountered some strange happenings. I was in the bathroom when someone called me I went out to have a look when there was one beautiful young woman in front of me and suddenly she vanished into thin air. I was shocked I told my mother, she wouldn't believe me! She said it is all my imagination. That night I went to bed to have some sleep, as I was really tired playing with my friends. Then, suddenly there was a knock on the main door. I went to open the door when my grandmother stopped me, she said, "No, please don't open the door it is the spirit of my younger daughter she wants to haunt this place as she committed suicide wanting this house to be in her name." Then, I quickly hugged my grandmother I asked her that means that’s my aunty? She said Yes. The next day, we said all kinds of prayers for her grave. From that day, I can't see her anymore...

Night Daddy

In Lebanon Kentucky my Aunt Cathy was pushing her son Charlie (in his wheel chair) down the hall to his bedroom. She was passing her husband’s office when Charlie said Night Daddy. Charlie is about twenty and it was odd. She kept walking put him to bed. She didn't want to pass the office but she had to. (Her husband had died of cancer) As she passed it the lamp on his side table was on. She knew Charlie didn't turn it on because he doesn't know how. She hadn't turned it on and no one had been in the house. She walked in reached over the table said good night Denny and turned it off. This hasn't happened since. I guess he wanted her to feel like she wasn't alone.

Haunting

My name is kera, and I have ALWAYS believed in ghosts. I've had a lot of different encounters, but one of the freakiest one happened in Alabama. I went to Alabama with my stepdad to visit his mom and family. His mom lives in a very old house. I usually can sense a spirit before it makes itself known, so the moment I walked into her house I was very unsure about things. Well, night comes and my step dad’s mother told me I had to sleep in the very back bedroom. I went back there and wanted to leave immediately. The air was thick and I could feel something watching me. In the middle of the night I woke up sweating, I had had a nightmare (which I rarely have). I saw movement by the door, but I told myself I was just scared, and I went back to sleep. When I woke up in the morning, I opened my eyes and tried to sit up. I couldn’t. It felt like someone was sitting on me and holding me down by the shoulders. I tried to scream but I couldn’t make any sound. I remember struggling against the force for five minutes then finally I bolted straight up. I didn’t wait long to get out of that room. Nor did I sleep in there again.

Mrs. Carter

When I was twelve years old, my parents and I moved into an old house that was built in the late 1800s. The attic was converted into my bedroom, and many times we witnessed supernatural happenings throughout the house. But my attic bedroom was the entity’s favorite room in the house. Almost every day we would hear footsteps coming down the attic stairs. And one day I went up to my room to watch t.v., but I lay back on my bed and fell asleep. After awhile I was woken up because I felt a heavy presence holding me down at my chest and I couldn’t breath. It seemed that something was trying to smother me. Then I went downstairs and as soon as I came outside where my mother and older sister were sitting on the large front porch, my mother asked me what were you doing up there, trying to bust through the floors? I asked her what she was talking about and she said that for the last thirty minutes or so, they had heard stomping and pounding up there and they thought I was dancing to my disco records. I told them I was sound asleep. And I told them about the sensation that had happened to me. My sister also confirmed that she too had heard the stomping and pounding. And many nights as we sat around watching t.v. we would here walking and stomping from up in the attic. The landlord told us that the original owner (Mrs. Carter) had been killed up there in the very room that I made into my bedroom. And through the years as I grew up many more strange happenings occurred. Doors slamming shut by themselves, laughter, crying, footsteps still going up and down the stairs, walking up in the attic. And after my father passed away, the next six years that my mother lived in the house until her death, she claims that someone would come and kiss her on her cheek every night before she went to sleep. She believed that that was my father. My parents ended up buying the home from the landlord years before their deaths, and my older brother now lives there. And He claims that he still hears things going on to this day.

The Lady Dressed In Black

When I was around three years old I was at my house coloring a picture for my sister. I went to find her and when I did I was talking to her for 5-10 min. When I came back I was drawing a little more when I turned around there was a tall woman in lets say her late 30's had a black leather suit on black make up on and was staring at me like I did something wrong so the only thing I could do of course was go get my sister and when we came back the ghost was gone.

The Guitar

It was the day before I was to head out on vacation, I was all by myself packing and cleaning the house a bit, I was in the dining room with my two dogs who were laying around in the same area. My son who is away at college plays the guitar and has an extra one in his room propped on its stand. I heard the sound of the guitar strings, as if someone had quickly run their fingers through all the strings. The dogs ears went up, and I thought it was my cell phone. Well it was not my cell phone, but since the kitchen window was open, I dismissed the noise as either the kids in the neighborhood or some wind chimes. About ten minutes later, my cat was sitting outside my son’s bedroom, and this time, I knew that I distinctly heard it again and it was the same guitar strings, the cat jumped and faced the direction of my son's door which was closed!! I was extremely frightened, and got the nerve to go into his room, when I entered everything looked normal, the windows were closed, and I tried jumping up and down and was never able to recreate the sound. I had the chills and goose bumps and was very fearful, I said a prayer and asked for peace. I have gotten over it, but am still a bit confused and shaken. I still don't know how to feel about the whole experience!

Deceased Husband

My husband has been dead for 6 years as of May 29th and this morning my room mate saw my husband. She describes it as so "real" she called me at work early and told me right after I left for work she turned and with her eyes still trying to focus on the morning she saw my husband standing in the bed room door way and she told me he had on a baseball hat witch he wore all the time and a muscle shirt again what he always wore and walked into the room and as he passed her he pointed to her as to say hey! and he then walked into the wall as my friend describes it. My frustration is that I have not seen him nor my children and why her? There is a part of me that is overwhelmed with happiness that he is visiting or that he does visit but I would so love to see him. I only see him when I dream. My day is consumed with this today.

Chilling Stay

I stayed at the 320 Guest Ranch in Montana, about ten years ago with my husband and two (then) teenage children. The ranch was beautiful and we had a lot of fun...until darkness fell. We stayed in the McGill cabin (former home of the previous owner, Dr. Caroline McGill, the first female doctor in Montana and founder of the Museum of the Rockies), rumored to be haunted. After my husband fell asleep the first night I began to hear whispering in the room. I could only make out a few names and something called Story Ranch. I thought it was the television. When I got up to check I passed by the kitchen and found all of my groceries lined up on the counter, though I was sure I put them away. I thought maybe the kids were playing a trick on me, but then the TV came on; I was the only one around. I ran back to the room woke my husband, but when he went to the check the TV he found it off, but he asked why I hadn't put the food away. We went back to sleep (restlessly!) but in the morning my kids, who were in the loft complained of voices in the night and there belongings being moved. They asked if we would switch cabins. I didn't blame them!

Lady Ghost

This story you are about to read is true, not many years ago I would have told you that ghosts don't exist, but that all changed one night as I was working a late night shift at a Kentucky state building. I had worked in this building for nearly two years, and, it was a spooky place especially after business hours, there was places in this building where I would feel cold spots and this made me wonder about this, one place in the building that I would have to empty trash cans there seemed to be an evil like spirit about this one place.. Being in my late forties and all I was convinced that ghosts were all a made up thing and just something for people to tell around the campfire during camping trips. But I would soon learn that my believing in Ghosts would change from not believing to accepting the facts that there are Ghosts. Well let me get on with my true story, I was picking trash out of the many office rooms going about my nightly job as Janitor, I was in the hallway just fixing to enter an office room to retrieve the trash when I heard someone coming around the corner of the hall and then I realized that I was supposed to be the only one in this building and then it dawned on me that no one else was authorized to be in this state building but me, then it happen around the corner come a woman and she was dressed in an old looking long full dress and wearing a old fashion bonnet, her dress had little flowers all over it and it was full like the dresses were way back during the war between the states. It scared me so as I watched this mysterious woman coming directly toward me and she seemed to be floating along in the air and not making a sound at all. Then I watched, being so confused at what I was seeing with my own two eyes and all and then she went into the darkened room that I was right directly in front of and it was the one that I was about to remove the trash can and empty the contents into my trash barrel. I followed her and turned the light on and then I got the surprise of my life. The light came on and there was no one in the room, and this blew my mind because my eyes had never betrayed me ever, and whether you believe this or not that is reading this, it's the truth and from then on I have believed in ghosts, and I am a man that would have made fun of you if you had told me that you had seen a ghost. I would have thought you to be a liar. So this ends my story and I know in my heart that Ghosts are real, and you have the right to believe what you will believe but as for me and my experience I know that Ghosts are real... and believe me or not from then on I was scared working in that place because I never wanted to see her again, she was a ghost and that was it, but now I know that no one should ever make fun of anyone for telling them that they seen a ghost. Because this same thing could happen to you my dear person so don't judge someone and call them a liar.

Ghost Story In Milo, Maine

There was a man who owned a farm in Milo, Maine, and had many slaves working on the farm. He was a very cruel man who beat the slaves. At times he had them go on the farm in a circle and beat them. On rainy nights you can see the slaves on the farm going around in circle holding lanterns. A couple of young people went parking in the area one rainy night and saw this vision and took off never to come back to the area again.

My Sister's House

My sister lives in this beautiful old home in a suburb of Chicago. After they had moved in, they did some renovating and made it even more beautiful yet kept it's original charm.

I used to visit almost every day until I moved out of state about 5 years ago. During the last couple of months before my move, I started getting uneasy feelings, like we weren't alone there. I had always been very sensitive to certain vibrations or intuitions about the history of houses I have lived in or visited.

Just before I moved out, I had gone to her house to stay for a month or two to re-organize my things in her basement. The day before I was to move, they all left on vacation. We all agreed that it would be all right for me to stay behind one day and finish getting ready for the move and then lock up for them, as they had trusted me to do many times before.

They had just left and it was around 3 in the afternoon. I was now the only one in the house. I went down to the basement to pack up some last minute things. I had been down there for a half hour or so when I started to hear people walking around upstairs. I could tell the walking was in the family room and dining room. I thought they had come back for something they might have left behind. At first I didn't respond because I was sure someone would come back downstairs to say one last goodbye or to let me know they had just stopped back in for a minute.

I heard more walking around and decided to call out myself. There was no answer. I even went halfway up the stairs and YELLED out their names. No answer.

I went back downstairs to put my things away and close up the basement and I started hearing the walking around again. I walked called out to them and again, no answer.

I went upstairs, made sure all the doors in the house were locked, called the neighbor and decided to take a cab to the airport right away.

First Time for Everything

Ok, so I just moved into this house about 3 months ago. It's an older house, about 106 years old, and one of the previous owners had died in a barn. Well anyway, I was lying there in bed with my wife, just about ready to get up for work, (I work 3rd shift) when my wife rolled over and told me to get back in bed. When she realized I was in bed, she told me to look by our door. When I looked, there was a shadow of a person, about 6 feet tall, walking out of our room. My wife told me that just before she told me to look, this black figure was leaning over our bed looking at us. As we watched it walk out our door, it disappeared. I made sure all the doors were locked before we went to bed, so it was either a very clever magic trick, or our house is haunted by someone who likes to watch us sleep.

Someone Sitting Beside My Friend!

I have an old Ouija board that my grandmother used to play when she was a kid .Now I own it, and I have had some mysterious encounters on it.... One summer night in 2002, my friend and I began to ask it questions. It seemed very nice to us but then it started to get weird. We would ask it its age, where they lived, if they had any kids etc... then we asked him where he was and he said he’s sitting right next to my friend, looking at her, we looked at each other and asked it again...he said now he was sitting behind me, my back was facing the front door and we were in the dining room...so we asked it again, "where are you this time" he said he was sitting on the couch in the living room...my friend asked me jokingly if she could sleep in my bed..

That was just a sample, I have more to telllll....

The Screaming Woman

O-kay, this is my first time submitting a story to be read hopefully by many viewers. You know sometimes its hard to describe things other than saying it was just a dream. (maybe to cope with what just happened?) Well my story goes back a few years when my son was two years old we had a two bedroom apartment and my mom and I were chill'n watching T.V., at my place. I guess I should tell you I got this apartment pretty quick because the tenants that had stayed there had recently died. She had a heart attack in the kitchen and he must have died from a broken heart only weeks after. I was not scared of this apartment after all it was my first place, and I knew the old couple that lived there before me, they were nice and if they were around they would just protect my son and I. I know this is getting long so I'll get to the point. Well mom and I were chill'n when I looked down the hallway and saw this woman flying and I mean flying towards me, she had short "electric" hair holes for eyes I paid no attention to any nose, that I'm aware of ,and a hole for a mouth and she was screaming her freakin' guts out. She had a long white robe (everything was white, except the holes) and she floated a few inches off the ground. I screamed at her in the name of GOD you cannot pass this line, meaning from the hallway to the living room. She stood in back of my invisible line and screamed and screamed. I woke up on the couch in the hallway right where it would have happened, I was alone and scared like h***, so I ran to bed and put my head under the covers for the rest of the night. I moved my living room around the next day so that no one had to sit in the front of the hallway. My son and I lived in this apartment for almost four years. I've had some pretty scary encounters in this apartment, this is just one I thought I'd share. Never know I might tell ya'll some more.

The Baby's Crying

Hi, it’s me again this is a second hand story, I have lots of those too. Well when my son was maybe 5mos old my mother wanted to take me out to dinner, movie, maybe see some friends. I got my step-dad, C.D., to watch Nick. Well to hear C.D. tell it, it got late, he was bored my baby was sleep, so he laid down to take a nap. He said he kept hearing a woman saying "C.D. the baby’s crying”, but he thought he was dreaming. He said it finally sounded like it was right in his ear, and he jumped up, checked on my little Nick, and sure enough he was in there crying. I always would say that maybe it was my “Big Momma”, my grandmother’s sister, she passed away when I was 10. But she was also dead while I was pregnant with Nick and ran me out of the house. I didn't think she meant to run me out of the house, but what else do you expect a pregnant 17yr old to do when she sees her aunts picture turn towards her and can feel her in the same room. When I look back I really do believe she protected Nick along with my father GOD. Because I can also remember having his nursery set up perfect, I mean he had everything in there, but I saw a little black demon jump from the hallway into his room before he was born. I moved everything out of the nursery and put in a corner in my room. My mom cussed me out but I know what I saw, and it would have to come through me first. I have more but I'll save some space for someone else. I really enjoy reading the different stories. I have always seen and heard things, people want to call me crazy, I don't know if I would call them ghosts because I believe in heaven, I have a mansion up high and the streets are painted with gold. But something is out there. And when I get scared I call on Jesus because he is Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.

The Dark Figure

Well I will start off by saying from as far back as I can remember I’ve always had strange things happen to me...My family & I lived in a very old house in Ohio...it was built in the late 1800's. Well my sister had decided to move out on her own & I was given her room, I was a little afraid to be honest because I would be sitting in the family room watching TV & I would hear people walking around upstairs & opening & closing doors, so the thought of sleeping in that room by myself was well scary, but I decided I would just push my feelings aside & at least try it. My first night in that room I was laying in bed facing the wall & I felt this awful feeling so I flipped & crouching in the corner of my room was a Dark figure & it slowly stood up & started towards me, so naturally I went running out of the room downstairs & told my Mom & Sister that I was NOT gonna sleep in that room...I’m the only one who has seen the Dark Figure & I’ve seen so many times since, I’ve had plenty of other things happen to me in that house but none as wrenching as that...My parents & I moved from that house when I was 17, I am now 22 & I’ve lived in many different states & countries since & the Dark Figure still makes sure I know its there watching me.

Not All Secrets Should Be Told

Me and my friend Lily were at a party. It was around 11:30 and all of the boys and girls (all of my friends basically) were sitting around the fire. Right in back of the fire pit was a big forest. They had trails weaving through it and it was not hard to follow. So anyway, we were talking to each other and all of a sudden a bright light appeared. But all it was, as we found out, was Mrs. Branson, Nikky Branson’s mom (Nikky’s party) come to check up on us. "Are all you guys here?" she asked, but something was different in her usually cheery voice. A very unsureness that everyone seemed to notice. "Yah, why mom?" asked nikky. "Oh, ok, I just wanted to make sure everything was ok." But by the looks of her, everything was not ok. As she walked back inside the house, we whispered to each other about what we noticed and what we thought. "It looks like she just saw a ghost!" said someone playfully. "Yah, probably nothing to worry about." said another person. So we came to the conclusion that it was nothing. But it was. "Hey, lets take a walk back in the woods, I need to tell you something." said Lily. So we walked back in the woods quietly until we reached a fork in the road. "What way should we take?" asked Lily. "I think we have gone far enough, besides, it’s almost time for me to be heading home." I said. "I don’t even know these paths though, so, what did you want to tell me?" As soon as Lily opened up her mouth, something moved across the path, about 50 yards in front of us. We didn’t hear anything like it had rustled the leaves, which had it been an animal, we would have heard a branch break, or leaves crunch, considering that it was early october. "What was that?" asked Lily suspiciously. "I don’t know" I said "Probably just an animal." Then we saw it again, except it stopped in the middle of the path. It was dark, not really any shape that could compare to an animal. It looked strangely sinister, like an unexplainable evil feeling. We were so scared we couldn’t even move. Then it started moving away from us. Strangely, Lily seemed to follow, so I did too. It was something I would never do again. We followed it for awhile, then it just seemed todisappear. I was glad, but when I came to my senses, I realized I didn’t have any clue where we were. "Katie" said Lily shaking "Where are we?" "I don’t know." Then it occurred to me that the strange dark thing was trying to get us lost, that was the strange sense of unsureness I felt when looking at it. This was its intentions. Luckily Lily had her cell phone and by morning they found us without calling the fire department. But in those waiting moments we spent huddled together, it seemed as though someone was always watching us through the trees. Lily told me that the secret that she needed to tell me was that these things seemed to happen a lot and she thought that was why Nikky’s mom had been acting weird, she said she had really probably seen a ghost. But she didn’t want to look like she was crazy. She was truly scared of what she had been seeing. We were very scared, but Lily was to the point of crying. "What’s wrong?" I asked, Lily was not the kind of person that cried. But she was, "They are mad." she said "For me telling." I could not believe what I was hearing and it still seems like it was just yesterday it was happening. I will always remember the day she told me, something about it always reminds me, not all secrets should be told.

Misplaced Newspapers

My aunt had died after a long illness (Which by the way the hospital misdiagnosed). The day after the funeral my uncle and my cousin were down in their finished basement where they discovered a pile of newspapers had been blown all around the floor, it had left a big mess. My aunt was a clean freak so to say, she liked everything in its place. Not long after my cousin went to see a woman who contacts spirits, she told my cousin she had a message for her. She told her, her mother wanted her to clean up the newspapers downstairs and put them neatly away. How did this woman know that this had happened at my cousin’s house? Makes you think, doesn’t it?

Tippy-Toes

Well, this story happened in 2000. It was in my mother-in-law's house that the family built themselves. Well, my husband's grandmother was a very mean and nasty old lady. She hated my husband's dad for taking her daughter away from her. Well, years went by and still they had nothing to do with each other, until the day the grandmother got sick. She was on her death bed, when she told my father-in-law that no matter how or when, she was never going to rest until she got rid of him. After her death, my mother-in-law was given all of her mother's possessions. One day as I and my husband went to visit for the weekend, the room where we usually slept in was already occupied by his brother, so we slept in the bedroom across the hall. In the middle of the night I woke up to a nightmare I was having about one of the dolls, that was in the room with us. My mother-in-law kept these two Mexican dolls that once belonged to her mother. She remembered them as she grew up. Anyways, I got up and just stayed there looking at the doll in her face. I know this sound crazy, but I could of swore when I looked away, through the corner of my eye, I saw here blink her eye. At that moment I woke up my husband and told him what I thought I had seen. Of course, he said I was just seeing things, and to go back to bed. The next night came, and I had talked my brother-in-law to switch us bedrooms, he did. That night, my niece was staying with us, she was nine years old at the time, and was not aware of my encounter with the doll the night before. Well it was about to be 3:13 a.m. when she woke everybody with her screaming!! I tried to comfort her before asking her what had scared her so. What came out of her mouth, was bone-chilling!!! She said she woke up having to go to the bathroom, which was down the hall from where we were sleeping, she said as she got up off the sofa, she looked down the hall, the hall light was always on, to see if anybody was up or in the bathroom, as she began to make her way around the sofa towards the bathroom, she saw a little woman doll, that seemed to be tip-toeing, holding her dress up on the sides and walking out of the bathroom to the room where she was kept. The doll never looked or even noticed my niece. Needless to say it was quite a story. I was the only one who believed her. Until about three months later, my mother-in-law said she was hearing women's voices coming out of the doll's room. As she would get closer to the door, she noticed that the crack under the door was showing something or someone's shadow. She swung the door open, and of course found nothing. She kind of thought she was maybe going crazy. Until, she figured out that she would see if anything was coming out of that door, by putting matchsticks between the door, to see if was being opened. The next day, to here amazement someone or something had opened that door. As fast as she could, she got those two dolls and burned them. Actually, she burned everything that had belonged to her mother. I can say now, I'm not afraid of sleeping in there anymore.

A Watchful Eye

I used to babysit for a family that lived not far from my home. This house always gave me the creeps. It belonged to the family's parents and the grandfather who had died approx. 30 years before that seemed to be around all the time. I would be there sometimes till 3am. They were D.J. for private parties and kept some late nights. They had this picture of him on the wall, every time I babysat I would have to take that picture down. I could never turn my back to the kitchen, always FELT like there was someone watching me. Pots and pans would always rattle in the cupboard (no mice, we checked), the bathroom light was the old pull string, that would never stay on, I would always leave it on, I could not walk in there with it off, but every time I went in there it was off. It wasn’t the kids they were too little. Another story I was told about that place was when a neighbor on one side of the house called the lady of the house and asked her if she knew if her cousin, who lived on the other side of the house had any kittens left, her son had just gotten a kitten that day and something happened to it so she was going to go get another one, her son wouldn't stop crying. This was about 10 at night. The lady of the house called her back and said they had kittens left. The lady going to get the kitten asked her to watch in her window till she passed her house (very dark no streetlights, very small town), she told her she was crazy she had to work very early get the kitten in the morning, and she went to bed. The following day the neighbor said "Thought you weren’t going to watch me, liar I saw you in the window". The lady of the house said "I didn't watch you my dear, I went to bed. The neighbor argued with the lady that she had indeed seen her in the window. She said she had a white towel on her head and a blue shirt on. The lady thought about what the neighbor had seen and said "Sure that was Dad you saw, he must have watched you go over." She had many occasions when her father was supposed to have been seen. He had a head of white hair when living and always wore light blue and white dress shirts. She was convinced it was her father and so am I.

It's Evil!

When I was younger I had a few experiences. One day when I was going to bed I saw an image of a face in my wallpaper, another night I woke up and saw the same face alive and right by my bed, it was evil, I could tell by the look on its face. I was very scared. Not long after, there was another incident, this time I was in the lounge, I heard a noise like a breath and it touched my legs, I felt cold all of a sudden, the breath was quiet but became louder and the feeling in my legs was hot all of a sudden. I rushed up to my room as I was very scared by this point. As I got into my bed my legs were shaking, I was worried as it felt like I was hurt by the thing that touched me. My legs were throbbing and sore, it really felt like my legs were hurt, they felt weak and shaky and the feeling felt deeper as I lay there. I really wanted an answer and if my legs were in any way hurt by what touched them. Even now I still don't have an answer but I do think this was evil because I felt hurt. The face I saw was evil because it looked so. I do tell people but not all think it's true, I feel angry by this as I know it's true and it's dangerous, too bad not to take seriously. Most stories I read about are to do with ghosts not what happened to me, I want to hear a similar story, so I know I'm not alone in what I went through. I don't think it's anything ghostly. I think it's spirits that were in the house. That's all I can describe it as. I would like to tell people so they can answer this. If anyone could then please do so. Someone has to take my story to be true. I've suffered a lot of trauma after what went on and it's too scary to deal with alone.

Midnight Experience

This incident happened 2005 at a Mardigras party at my cousin's house. You see every year at Mardigras I go to spend the night at my cousin's house and it always turned out fun, but this night was different. It was 12:30 am midnight and I was on my cousin's computer looking something up and everybody in the entire house was asleep. Well I was reading some information on the internet when all of a sudden I see, in the corner of my eye, someone looking over my shoulder. I couldn't tell who it was. I first thought it was one of my cousins or one of the guests, but every time someone walks in the room, they would have had to make noise. So when I turned around to look, no one was there. That really freaked me out and after that I shut down the computer and went into the living room where my cousin Madeline was sleeping and slept on the other couch. In the morning I told Madeline what I saw, but she thought I drank too much soda that night, but I knew it wasn't that. When I left to go home I just remembered what my Dad told me that he heard from a real estate agent. Apparently years ago before my cousins and my aunt and uncle lived there a couple lived there and they had a daughter. However the daughter was the one that stayed in Madeline's room, the one that I was in when I had that experience, apparently she died in that room from suffocating from a heat radiator. Ever since that incident and when I go over there I'm always cautious to go in that room.

My Great Grandma Clara

One night I was lying in my bed and I was about to doze off, when I heard something. It was someone calling my name, but my mom, dad, and brother were asleep. My door was closed and all the suddenly it started to open. I saw a white ghostly figure floating across my room. I was scared all right, but I tried my best to stay calm. Then the figure started floating toward me. It asked me how I was doing. I was scared because it was talking to me and because there was a ghost in my room. I was frightened, but I still answered its question. I said I was doing fine in a scared, shaky kind of way. It said you don't have to be scared I will not harm you. Then I got a good view of its face and noticed that it was my great grandma Clara. (That’s who I got my name from by the way.) I said are you grandma Clara, she answered yes I am. (She said a lot more things but if I mentioned everything the story would be way too long.) I wasn't that frightened anymore. I knew she wouldn't hurt me. It was still scary having a ghost walk into your room. Well I guess I could say that I had a conversation with a ghost. (Kind of weird, but I did) Well when our conversation was over she said good night and sleep tight. Then she slowly vanished away, as she was vanishing away I heard her say tell the family I love them. That’s all to my story for now so good night to all and to all please have a good night.

Basements Can Hide Secrets

Well my dad and I just moved into this house near my school and we had a lot of things that used to be in the attic at my grandma’s house, so we wanted to move every thing to our new house, since there was no attic, we moved it all to the basement. Well one afternoon we were unpacking and I hear my dad yell like he was hurt or scared, well I run towards the basement door but my dad is the one busting out of the door and slams the door shut and grabs the phone and calls the police and says that he has found a gun in the wall, but when he went to grab it he was hit in the head. And then was pushed up the stairs. We moved out and then that house was tore down.

The Little Boy

My daughter just recently turned 18 and moved into her own apartment. She was very excited about her newfound freedom and I was very sad over her leaving. It is so hard to let go... Sorry, I am getting off track here. Anyway, ever since my daughter was small she has been able to sense things and see things that no one else could. This sort of thing seems to be common amongst the women in our family so I never thought it too strange until I noticed that she seemed to be more "in tune" with it or more sensative to it than the rest of us. She would talk to invisible people and call them by name or wake me up screaming in the night because there was a black figure in her room trying to get her. I know this all sounds a little crazy but I promise you it is all very true. So anyway, about a week ago she called to tell me that she had seen something very strange in her new place. She said she was lying on her couch when she started to hear a woman screaming in her ear. She jumped up and looked around but of course nobody was there. She went into the kitchen to get a drink and as she rounded the corner she saw a small boy in tattered clothes, no shoes and the right side of his head was smashed in!! She said she was not frightened by him, but felt sorry for him. He was smiling at her and she asked him what his name was... and he answered her!! He said his name was Josiah and that he was lonely. She talked to this...whatever you want to call it...for a few minutes and told him she had to go clean her house. The rest of the night he followed her around the house. Every time she turned around he was standing there smiling at her. So finally she said a prayer for him and went to bed. She has not seen him since. We are now in the process of trying to find out if anything bad has ever happened to a child in that house. We believe that sometimes, if a small child is killed in a location that they can become confused and stay where they are familiar with their surroundings. I will try to keep you posted on our findings.

They Are Part Of Our Family

Hello! I actually have been very interested in the paranormal for a long time. I live in Chicago in a small apartment. I have been living there for 18 years. I always heard my name being called and it was always the voice of a man and sometimes a woman. Anyways, recently my mother told me that one day she was looking at the reflection of the kitchen through the television. She said something passed by quickly and when she turned around she saw nothing. She stared at the TV again and she said a woman passed by slowly in a long white gown and when she turned around there was nothing there. She has been dreaming that there is somebody buried in our living room but since this presence never hurts us, we don’t want to disturb it. Believe it or not, doors sometimes open by themselves and sometimes you hear knocking. When my mom and I were home alone one day, she closed the curtains because it was getting late and both of us were in the bedroom. She closed the curtains and instantly the lamp turned on but this lamp is the kind of lamp that you can set the brightness by how much you turn the knob. The lamp turned on by itself and stopped at the amount of brightness we usually like. All we did was look at each other and said "Thank you!" Later on when mom went to the bedroom to sleep, the lamp turned off by itself. We had some stuff thrown at us but that happened rarely. We usually see shadows but we pay no attention to it. Of course it scares me but we (well at least mom and I) have grown attached to whatever is in our house. This ghost likes living with us and has protected us from getting seriously hurt sometimes. Either way, we love him/her.

A Haunting In Jackson

This is my first time experiencing a true paranormal investigation. Call us ghost hunters, ghost busters, ghost tracers, but to be more formal, we can be called paranormal investigators. The outfit is called H.P.I. (Haunted and Paranormal Investigations) of Northern California. The president is the lovely Shannon McCabe. Shannon is a unique individual that also is a vocalist and is involved with vocal lessons, recording, band management and bookings, event planning, floral design and has a website at www.SnMPProductionsCo.com or www.MySpace.com/SnMProductionsCo. This talented woman also seeks the truth of hauntings and maintains a skeptical mind on all events that are witnessed by her outfit H.P.I. She seeks a scientific explanation, or when all scientific possibilities are eliminated, it leaves only one answer. The paranormal. January 20, 2007, Saturday, I found myself arriving at The National Hotel, 2 Water Street, Jackson, CA. Roll Call for H.P.I. Investigators that don't mind having their names disclosed were: Shannon McCabe, President; Brian Colbert; Julie English; Paul Dale Roberts; Mary Casiano; Anne Temple (Spiritual/Psychic Reader); John Wachter; Jonathan Russell; Alicia; Michelle Paykel. There were 28 H.P.I. paranormal investigators and other names will be withheld for their privacy. The National Hotel in Jackson, California dates back to the 1800s. Guests of the hotels have witnessed many paranormal events. The total number of entities in the hotel have been documented to a big 30. When I arrived, their was a band playing and patrons gyrating on the dance floor to rock and roll and R&B. One of the buzzed patrons yelled out..."happy ghost hunting!" The HPI investigators were setting up video cameras in all locations of the floors of the hotel. The lap tops were turned on to analyze electronic voice phenomenon. In one recording you could distinctly hear a female voice say the word 'chill'. I became familiar with a Gauss aka E.M.F. (electro magnetic field reader). Brian Colbert, another paranormal investigator briefed me on a Tempgun, which detects the influx of temperature. Very good in reading 'cold spots'. When the band and patrons left, the lights went out and the investigators had access to more rooms. In one room called The Bordello, I felt a thickness in the air. When leaving this room and returning perhaps an hour later, the thickness was gone. Armed with my digital camera, I took pictures of various areas of the hotel. The method is to take two pictures of each area, so there is no misinterpretation of the picture taken. The spirits must have been attracted to Julie English. She took many photos with her digital camera and picked up many 'orbs' in her photographs. Julie English at 1:52am took a photograph of a bath towel in Room 55 and an orb appeared in the photo. She snapped another photo of the bed in Room 55 and another orb appeared. I snapped photos of the same areas and no orbs appeared on my photographs. One unsubstantiated claim was that intuitive Anne Temple claimed that a little girl made her presence known and followed John Wachter. During this incident an electronic magnetic field monitor device was used and witnessed by Michelle Paykel. The little ghostly spirit of the girl that followed John Wachter whispered 'Cindy'. Some of the patrons of the bar were curious on what H.P.I. was doing and one patron, name unknown claimed he was a psychic and claimed an angry man entity was walking up and down the hallway and that he was angry. This entity was mumbling gibberish and was completely incoherent. The psychic patron claimed this was a troubled spirit. Anne Temple followed up to say that he smoked a cigar and that he was yelling 'get out'. The patron psychic said he was 5' 10", average aged man with an ethnic background. Observing the patron psychic, I detected that he was somewhat intoxicated. There was a time he was glass eyed and standing up against the wall. Shannon McCabe asked him...'what's wrong?' He later told me that he receives headaches when there are too many ghosts around. One of the investigators asked him to leave, because we felt he was hindering on our investigations. Shannon McCabe showed me around to various rooms. She is a seasoned investigator and as we sat in the dark, she would entice the spirit to show itself. While Shannon was trying to detect any Electronic Voice Phenomenon, any kind of noises that were being made, she would make the comment..."someone's footsteps are being heard" or "Paul coughing", so there is no confusion on what those noises are. Shannon enticed a spirit named "Jeffrey" and I snapped one photo over the bed area and captured 2 orbs on my camera. I snapped again, in the same direction of the orbs and there were no more orbs present in the 2nd photo. This was in Room 52 of the hotel. One of the lady workers of the hotel related all kinds of ghost stories to us. She told us how a crashed echoed throughout the hotel, sounding like broken glass or broken wood and when walking into the room where the sound came from, they found no broken glass or wood. She explained that rooms with many sightings, were rooms 61, 47 and 45. One room, a cowboy male ghost is seen and that this ghost once told a little girl with a video camera...'run bitch!' Shannon and about 4 other paranormal investigators sat in that room, trying to entice the cowboy ghost. We had no results in this room. I later sat in this room by myself and felt no presence. I even dared to sit in dark closets by myself and even investigated the attic and no results. One unidentified woman paranormal investigator took a photo and got a misty white cloud on her digital photo. Michelle Paykel took a digital photo and a white blob appeared on the staircase digital photo. At 4:20am, more digital photos were taken in Room 60 and orbs appeared on the photographs. The final story for this evening occurred in Room 47, the infamous Bordello Room with it's lavish provocative maroon decor and mirrors. This story is related to me by Mary Casiano, Jonathan Russell and Anne Temple, the Spiritual Reader of www.Bluepantherspirit.com/ They witnessed or experienced everything from a poke in the neck, whispering, hair pulling, tugging on hair, a touch or brushing of the face, hands feeling cold, hair pushed back. Jonathan Russell claims he was sitting on a chair and felt a pressure on his lap and even felt like he was being groped. I went into the Bordello Room by myself and sat in the same chair as Jonathan. I sat in there for a good 20 minutes and experienced nothing. The only thing I experienced in this room, was earlier in the evening, I felt a thickness in the air. Overall this was a fun learning experience and I hope our next investigation into a haunting will produce some exciting results. All digital photographs and Electronic Voice Phenomenon will be analyzed. The results are pending. For anyone interested in this field! Like the patron told me...."Happy Ghost Hunting!"

Hauntings In El Dorado County

The Michele Stump Story: Hauntings in El Dorado County Written by Paul Dale Roberts, H.P.I. Ghostwriter/Paranormal Investigator Edited by Shannon "Ms. Macabre" McCabe, President of H.P.I.

Last night I went on a scouting mission with HPI Paranormal Investigator Jennifer Baca in Elk Grove. Today, June 2, 2007, Saturday, I am headed out on a historical scouting mission with HPI Paranormal Investigator Michele Stump. The only problem I am having today is that I didn't get enough sleep. I swallowed down some Starbucks, threw on some James Brown songs, such as Gravity, Living in America and Goliath to wake me up and take the long drive on Highway 50 to El Dorado County, where I would meet up with Michele Stump at Round Table Pizza in Placerville. Michele Stump is sort of a ghost historian of El Dorado County, she's read up on a lot of the areas that are supposedly haunted. She has taken the time to talk to the locals. So, today we are on a historical excursion. She will take me to various haunts and explain the history of these haunts in El Dorado County. We're not really trying to find a ghost or ghosts, even though she did bring her EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomenon) monitor. Just to let you know, we picked up no EVPs on this scouting quest.

Here are some of the places in Placerville that Michele showed me:

Placerville Historical Museum, which was once the Chamber of Commerce and the locals say that it's haunted by miners.

Cozmic Cafe: A ghostly black dog has been seen on the stairwell and there are miner caverns underneath this restaurant. You can actually enter the caverns and dine in the caverns. A lot of ghostly activity has taken place in the caverns in which patrons claim to have witnessed. Once when Michele walked into the caverns, she felt a tugging on her leg. There is some ghostly activity in the bar section too.

El Dorado County Chamber of Commerce: Once it was the Old Vet's Building in 1852. Then later it became the Kossuth House (Hotel) for the miners. More miner ghosts seen at this location.

Empire Antiques: Used to be a theater. Sometimes items at this store are moved around for no apparent reason.

Cary House: Supposed to be extremely haunted. The hotel elevator goes up and down on it's own. In the elevator sometimes there is the smell of cigar smoke. When Michele and I, entered the elevator we smelled the cigar smoke and then it was gone. Patrons have seen full body apparitions in the hotel. Sometimes the piano plays on its own. Two ghosts that are popular and have been seen is Stan the ghost, once an employee of the hotel. Another ghost sometimes seen by the stairs is of a young beautiful lady.

The Hangman's Tree Pub (Bar). Unique bar with dollar bills hanging from the ceiling. The actual hangman's tree is inside the bar. On a limb of the Hangman's tree is a rope. Outside is a dummy of a man hanging by his neck. Bloody Dick and two criminals were hanged from this tree. The 3 desperadoes faced no other than Judge Lynch. Altogether there were 4 hangings on this tree. Talked with an employee of this bar named Heather Mclean (Email to bar: Hangtree1@hotmail.com) and she says that sometimes the ice cream scooper moves on its own accord. Michele got dizzy inside this bar and had to step outside for some fresh air.

As we left Placerville and headed over to Georgetown. Michele relates to me that she once was a 911 Operator for the El Dorado County Sheriff's Department. She told me that at Green Valley Road by Shingle Springs, there were 6 ghostly horses galloping along the road and the sheriff was called out, when he arrived the horses disappeared. The story of the ghostly horses has been told before by other witnesses.

From here on out, are places that are haunted in Georgetown. Georgetown was once called Growlersburg, because the miners said that the gold nuggets were so big, that they had a growling sound when hitting the pan. Georgetown is an unusual little town. It's so small, people drive in the middle of the road and park their cars and walk to the bar. There is a rumor that a Chinese morgue is buried underneath the town. Now let's talk about some of the places we visited:

Georgetown Hotel. Sometimes items are moved around. Footsteps heard. The bar is very unusual, it has a real wasp nest hanging from the ceiling, stuffed heads of various animals, stuffed wolverine smoking a cigarette, strange signs, stuffed teddy bears, old pictures. A ghost named Verna haunts Room 5. Some ghostly kid and a ghostly old man make their appearances known ever once in a while.

Georgetown Volunteer Fire Department Building: A ghostly fireman with full uniform and hat sometimes stands outside of this building.

American River Inn: A woman fell from the 2nd balcony floor to her death and she appears at times on the 2nd floor. This hotel was built in 1863. Once when Michele visited this hotel, she used the bathroom and the bathroom door on its own accord flew open. Celebrities like David Hasselhoff (Knightrider fame), Ruth Buzzi and Carol Channing stayed at this hotel. People write their ghostly experiences in a big white photo album. I read some of them, they mostly take on religious overtones, where the patrons ask the ghosts to go towards the light. One famous ghost of this hotel is Oscar, a former patron of the hotel that seems to wander around here and there. Braundeline who works at this hotel has heard footsteps, when she looked to see who was walking down the floorway, there was no one there.

Shannon Knox House built in 1854 is the oldest residence in Georgetown. No ghostly activity has been recorded at this house. They should have a sign at this house saying...'this house is in a ghost free zone!'

Georgetown's Pioneer Cemetery established in 1848. Michele tries her EVP monitor. No EVPs recorded.

Greenwood Pioneer Cemetery established in 1852. According to Nancy Bradley, Psychic, she claims this is one of the most haunted cemeteries in El Dorado County. A lot of people who died in this cemetery invested into a railroad that never went through their town. Another interesting factor is that Placerville and Georgetown are the most haunted places in Northern California, according to residents. Michele receives no EVP readings at this cemetery.

The Bayley House. This 3 story mansion was formerly a hotel. It was built in 1862 by Assemblyman Alcander John (AJ) Bayley. Michele has investigated this mansion at night by herself and has captured orbs on her digital camera.

Sierra Nevada House. The ghost of politician Robert Chalmbers has been seen here. Michele's mom worked here as an employee and has witnessed bar stools spinning on their own. Shotglasses moving on their own. Robert Chalmbers who lived here, caught syphilis and went mad. His wife locked him in a room by himself, so he wouldn't hurt himself or others. Robert eventually died in that room.

Coloma Park: Where gold was discovered in the streams. Sometimes apparitions have been seen here.

Well, that's it! This was an interesting scouting mission on historical proportions. If you ever visit El Dorado County and want to do some ghost hunting, just follow my listing. Old Slew Foot

Being raised in Kentucky and hearing many stories before the fire place. One struck me odd. The story takes place many years ago and its about and old mountain preacher that rode the back woods ridges preaching the Gospel for the lord’s work. Back then there were no cars and no modern electric, people used old coal oil lamps for light back in those days. Well we shall call this old preacher Harm Bishop. He rode all alone from place to place holding gospel meetings for the Kentucky settlers back then that had come to the mountain to make their home. One moonlit night he was deep in the backwoods part of Kentucky and had preached at a little mountain church and the meeting had lasted till almost midnight and he had to leave and was to be another settlement the next day and it was a good way off where he was now. Most of the time the settlers would put him up for the night but this time he had to move on to make his next preaching stop. The backwoods ridges only had a narrow wagon path through the country side and on this night the moon was bright and the sky was cloudless, a warm summer night. Harm has rode over more ridges than any man alive, he was what was called a circuit riding preacher. Most of the time as he rode he usually sang gospel hymns to keep him company along the way, but on this night something was in the air, something was making his skin crawl and the hair on the back of his neck stand up. Harm was a brave faithful soul and a good preacher and it took a lot to scare such a fellow as he. Well he must have been about three miles from where he had preached and it was almost three in the morning by this time. Harm seen someone coming to meet him and he wonders who in the world would be riding this late especially in these deep backwoods part of Kentucky. As Harm gets closer he notices that the horse and rider is strange looking and the rider is wearing a dark cape like veil over his head and upper body. Never before has preacher Harm ever seen such a rider and this one is dressed strange and he set straight like he is tied on the horse. When harm gets right near the oncoming rider he greets him and says howdy Mr. to try and get him to speak to him, but no answer and Harm has spoken loud. And then he speaks out again more loud and still no answer from the strange rider that has on the strange looking veil. Then something real strange happens when the rider horse gets directly besides the preacher horse, Harm’s mule stops dead in his tracks and won’t move an inch as if he is under a spell or something. “What is the meaning of this?” asked the now frightened Harm. “Why won’t you speak and tell me who you are?” Harm repeated. Harm looks at the Ghostly creature that set atop of the mighty dark horse and the moonlight almost like day makes the dark veil almost sparkle its so dark and shiny looking. Then a deep coarse voice breaks the silence and says I’m old slew foot and I ride the night trails and have for thousands of years now. Harm is startled and afraid a bit but keeps his faith as a man of God should. “I’m not afraid of the likes of you.” Harm boasts. Then old slew foot says I ride behind you to tear down the faith you have built in the men’s hearts. I follow you always.” The ghostly figure blurts out loud. Then the ghostly form points a finger at a large oak tree and the tree split from top to bottom and catches on fire. And thunder came afterwards. And the woodland is set on fire along side the split oak that is mighty and big and the thrash of the tree caused the ground to tremble under the feet of Harm’s mule he is sitting on. Harm feared for his life and then he reaches for his Holy Bible and pulls it from his saddle bag. Then the ghostly rider’s horse starts away from him and still his mule won’t move an inch till the strange rider and its horse goes completely out of site. The giant oak catches the woods on fire and Harm knows he must go on and get away from the fire before his mule spooks and maybe throws him off. Harm had never met such a thing in all of his travels as a preacher.. but Harm remembers what his old grand pappy told him many years ago.. his grand pappy told him that every man ever born would at sometimes meet old slew foot nose to nose and face to face... Harm rides on down through the lonely wagon trail not looking behind him thinking that old slew foot might be following again.

Mullins Hollow Curse

The moon has just come up the warm summer night that me and some friends decided we can go camp in Mullins Hollow, which was about a mile from my home. Many scary stories had been handed down about this green flush hollow called Mullins hollow by the residents that live close to it. It was a pretty place in the day time but in the night time that was a different story. Some people say that it is cursed with a curse of something evil that happened there many years ago. I was told at a certain time of the night you could see a white horse flying through the air with flames of fire coming out of its nose. What caused this was during the civil war between the war of the states, that a band of southern troops was coming through the area back then and they come upon an old shack that an old woman lived in at that time. The troops stopped and asked the old lady, did she have some food she could spare for a sick soldier that had fallen ill and needed some broth or something that might stay in his stomach. The old woman refused to give the south any food because she stood for the north and didn’t want to help the south in anyway. So the leader of the soldiers rode a beautiful white horse and he was angry with the lady for not giving them any broth, and he said to the old lady because you have not given us any thing for the sick soldier may this hollow be cursed for ever and ever... and then the band of soldiers went on. And from that day forward this hollow is cursed. Strange light comes from the creek that runs along the border of the hollow, screams in the night are often heard from a distance... Some have even said they had seen the creek there turn into bloody waters and then change back to clear.. It is evident that the curse is still there. Anyone that trods on this cursed ground is bound to have bad fortunes. One man was bitten by a spider, another man was run out of the hollow by a big black blob of a form that had no shape but could fly in the air like a bird. My grandpa said he has seen the flying horse sweeping the tree tops breathing out flames of fire. Balls of fire often fall from the sky and burst into billions of sparks that never catch anything on fire... This place is ok in the day time but at night its another story. One man said he was passing through the hollow walking along the creek and that the creek water turned into thousands of snakes and that the banks of the creek was working alive with snakes.. He ran for his life. One man said while passing through the hollow looking for a stray mule that had escaped his fences said the ground open up and swallowed him up to the neck and kept him trapped for a whole hour before releasing him. He said he never entered that hollow again. Then another said a strange screaming sound could be heard at a certain hour of the night. It walked the surrounding ridges screaming a mournful scream like sounds that he could not imitate... Then there is the pale moon shaped object that has no solid features being like fog or mist, has been reported to follow travelers when they trod in Mullins Hollow.. Then there is a bloody soldier dressed in southern war clothes of the civil war who had been seen laying beside the creek in a pine box and it opens...with his rifle laying beside him in his coffin...one man tried to touch the coffin and his hand went right through it and he ran for his life....So if you’re ever walking in a hollow that looks as I have described, Mullins hollow and you see a civil war soldier laying in a pine box run for you life because you’re in Mullins hollow...

The Little Girl

Me and my husband had just gotten married and we decided to move so we moved to Georgia to a nice little home. But every so often I would have a feeling that something was behind me so I would turn around but no one would be there. And every time my nephew would come over (he was 2) he would always talk to the wall and he would or at least I thought he was but he called it Lucy. Well one day all of a sudden the radio came on and it was blaring but it was not plugged in and no one was home but me. And we have a dresser in our room it is very heavy not even I could move it but every morning when I would wake the dresser would be turned completely around and we have wind chimes IN our house but every once in awhile they would blow uncontrollably loud and when I would get in the shower at night when my husband would work the night shift I would hear a little girl laugh..... but one day we had a guy come over and he ask us if we had a little girl and we said no then he said I just saw a little girl with a blue dress on and he never came back the next year later we moved out.

Monday Night RAW

Ok I know your looking at the title and saying what does wrestling have to do with ghost stories? Well let me tell you I’ve been an avid wrestling fanatic for about six years straight now. My favorite wrestler is the current WWE Champion John Cena, the hottest man alive but that's not the point. Usually when I'm watching Smackdown, ECW or especially RAW I don't like to bothered. My cousins are wrestling fans too so they hardly call me because they’re watching also. My mom may call every now and then and my friends are usually out doing whatever it is they’re doing so they barely call me either except for my friend since Middle school, Courtney. Now keep in mind Courtney is a year older than me, he's 23 I'm 22. Since Jr. high school he's been on the wrong path in life, has been to jail several times, involved in a few robberies, assault charges things like that but he's never killed anyone so that's a good thing I would hope. But anyway Courtney is the only person to call me during wrestling especially Monday Night RAW because he knows I love John Cena and don't like to take my eyes off of him so he'll call and bug me. Well last night 8-27-07 Monday, I get a call and Courtney's name pops up on the caller ID. I pick up and there is no answer, it happened a second time Courtney's name again is on the caller ID, no answer. This happens at least 3 more times after that and still Courtney's name on the caller ID, NO ANSWER!!!!! Okay I'm thinking this is really getting on my last nerve, Courtney play's way too much. I bet he's somewhere laughing his butt off right now as we speak BOY WAS I WRONG. About 15 minutes later after the call no answer's stopped. John Cena was hitting Booer T, the TV goes off and the room goes pitch black, dark. I'm wondering what's going on, all of a sudden a white face started to develop on the TV screen. I then noticed it was Courtney! He stared for a moment, smiled and waved as if he were saying goodbye. Now I do remember being over another one of our friends houses the day before and Courtney looking at me funny and asking me weird questions "Are you coming to my funeral Des?" I looked at him and told him to stop talking crazy, your scaring me and he said "Well I'm just saying make sure you get your dress and be there you one of the only friends I got that actually means something to me. I'll expect to see you there I'm serious!" I said ok Courtney I'll be there but getting back to the story I was sitting there scared to death. I couldn't move or talk or nothing, I was in total shock. Then the power restored TV and lights were back on and the match was right where it left off!!!! How weird, but not as weird as what happened next. I get another phone call and it was Stephanie, Courtney's older sister, I picked up and asked her where was her brother (He's the only boy his mama had) he keeps playing on the phone and ........ she says what he was calling and playing earlier I told her no it has been for the 15 or 20 min Stephanie begins to say that's what I'm calling you about, Courtney couldn’t have been calling you in the last 15 or 20 minutes he was riding around with one of his homeboy's and his friend had beef with this other guy. Courtney was in the wrong place at the wrong time because the guy jumped out of another car, he shot his friend twice in stomach and chest he seen Courtney jump out of the car running, he then shot Courtney 5 times, once in the leg, then the shoulder, the back and then once Courtney was on the ground he shot him two more times in the neck and head he died on the way to the hospital about four hours ago so he couldn’t have called you!!!!!!!!!

Uncle

Four years ago my mother's brother passed away after a long battle with throat cancer. He had lived with my grandmother for six months before his death. His bedroom was in the basement of my grandmother's home that she had lived in for over 35 years. I am pretty sure that this house was haunted by different ghosts because of personal experiences and stories told to me by my grandmother. But those are stories for another time. About three months after my uncle's death the family decided to have a family dinner at my grandmothers. There was nothing out of the ordinary, a typical family dinner with people coming and going and the grandchildren playing in the basement and watching television. Now, when my uncle was alive he did not like for anyone to go into the basement. He did not like for anyone to go into his space and he could get really hateful and angry when anyone went into the basement. On this particular Sunday afternoon after most of the family had gone home and the kitchen had been cleaned from dinner, my grandmother asked my aunt and myself to go downstairs and check the basement to make sure the television was turned off and the door leading outside was locked. My aunt, who has also had some encounters in this house, was a little apprehensive about going downstairs. Making a joke, I said, "race you to the bottom before Jimmy gets mad". After saying this, we raced down the steps. My aunt turned off the television, shut and locked and outside door, and we both stopped to look under the bed for some reason. We both got down onto the floor and pulled the dust ruffle up at the same time and starting laughing. About that time, a walking stick that had been given to my uncle landed between us. There was no way that the walking stick could have fallen on its own because it was kept behind and corner of an antique dressing table. My aunt and I both jumped up and I grabbed the stick and put it back where it was kept and rwe started up the stairs. When we were on the fist and second step we saw and could hear the walking stick hit the floor. It looked as if the stick had been kicked with force from behind the dressing table. It was several months before either of us could go back into the basement.

Friends In Life And Death

I had a friend her name is Dina she passed away about 4 years ago. We did lots of things together, we went to v tech together and every day I would take her home. Well one day I took her home and she went to church that night. Later I got a call letting me know she passed away. That night I dreamed that she was buried in a gray coffin with blue trim and she was telling me goodbye. The next day her dad came over with a friend. He asked me if I wanted to go to the wake. I told him I would get ready to go. We were on our way in no time when we got there I walked up to see my friend for the last time. Then I noticed that her coffin was gray and trimmed in blue. She had a nice pants suit on the color purple with a flower design. Well I said my goodbyes and went on my way. Then a couple of days later was my birthday I went to my mom’s house to see her then she told me to wait that she had a birthday present for me. So she went to get it for me. When she came back she gave me the box. I opened it and was shocked to see that my mom and sister had picked the same outfit out for me as my friend had been buried in. I told them about it and they said they would take it back. I told them no that it would be fine. I wonder was it another sign from my friend? I often wonder.

Someone In The Window

As I was growing up, I had a couple of strange experiences at our house, but what I'm about to share is one of my earliest experiences. It happened when I was still a child. I was the only child in the family at that time so I don't have somebody else to talk or play with but our housemaid, her name is Inday. Whenever I get bored playing with my toys, I usually go to her room and disturb her from whatever she is doing. One evening I decided to go to Inday's room, which is in the second floor. When I entered the door to her room, I saw her ironing the clothes, when I noticed there was something else outside her window, something floating and it was kind of hairy. It just floated there as if it was sitting on an invisible flying carpet. Then I asked Inday, "Why is that guy floating outside the window?" but she looked at me and said "Ssshhh." But then I asked some more "How did he do that? Is it magic?" But she didn't answer; she just continued ironing clothes as if she had seen nothing. I can see that what ever was floating outside the window was looking at me, I can see its unusual eyes towards me and I can see that it is waving its hand. I think it is asking me to come close to the window. As a child I was curious of how he was able to float, so I tried to walk towards the window to get a better look of what it really was, I think its hanging on a rope or something, but Inday stopped me from getting nearer to the window and she said, "Just don't get close and he can't do anything to you." After that I went to my mother and father in the living room because I wanted to show them what was floating at Inday's window. My mother was watching TV with my father, she doesn't like to move around much because she was pregnant with my sister at that time so she asked my father to take a look at what I wanted to show them but my father didn't care to have a look at it, instead we had dinner and then I went back to Inday's room to see it again, but it was gone.

Ghost At McDonalds

My husband and myself are keen ghost hunters and often travel in and around Liverpool taking the odd photo in the hope of picking something up. One night we stopped off at McDonalds for a coffee my hubby Derek was in a world of his own playing a game on his mobile phone I looked across the car park and I saw what I can only describe as a horrible little greyish dwarf. It stood looking at me and I was trying to scream to let Derek know what was happening but no sound would come out. When it finally did the thing just evaporated and seemed to disappear down a nearby grid. I was left shaking like a leaf. I don’t know what it was and I don’t want to know.

Okay this was a long time ago but my uncle lived in this really really old house with my two cousins and I went to stay the night with them and they always told me it was haunted but I didn’t believe them. Well there is this really old hole in the wall joint that is literally right next to the house and my uncle went over there and always brought us back chicken fried steaks and french fries. Well long story short me and my cousin were watching TV and the TV all of the sudden started to turn on and off then it turned back on except it was all staticy!! Well we didn’t really think anything of it until we heard something in the kitchen!! Well we just thought it was my other cousin until we realized that he was on the other end of the house in his room!! Needless to say we wanted to know what it was but we were scared so we crawled beside the couch and looked in the kitchen!! To our surprise the cup of hot coffee that someone has left on the counter was being picked up and it was like someone was just drinking it except it only lasted a few seconds and then the whole thing went smashing to the ground. As crazy as it seems I think that whatever did that realized we were watching and that’s why it fell. They moved out of that house a couple of years later but needless to say I never went back!!!!

Dancing Ghosts

This happened when I was about 13yrs old. We lived in this old two-story house. The house used to be a bar back in the 1920's and bad things happened there. This house is located in a town named Rayondville, TX. The house has been remodeled and lots of other people have lived there too. Well one night I was in a deep sleep it was about 3 in the morning and all of a sudden I heard music. So I woke up and I saw people dancing. I mean these figures were see thru and their color was like this faint whitish color. It freaked me out. I tried yelling for my mom but nothing would come out of my mouth. These things didn't even realize I was there sitting in my bed watching them and all of a sudden as they appeared they were gone. I’m 30yrs old now and I can still see them like it was yesterday. That will always stay with me.

Ghost Or Imagination?

My name is Miranda Wilcox and I live in P-town WA. I moved here three years ago. But these weird things only started happening a little while ago. Here’s where it started. Me and my friend were outside one night. This friend of mine supposedly can see ghosts and orbs and such. Anyways we were just messing around when suddenly we both see this blue "orb" go by. Then a white one went by. Then I turned around and I saw this shadow on the ground. It looked as if a little girl was standing there and her shadow was right there. But there wasn’t any girl. I have a habit of closing my door whenever I leave my room. And every now and then when I look back my door would be open. My door makes sounds when it opens and it never does when this happens. Another time I was coming upstairs and I saw a black misty cloud go by the left side of my head. I even felt the air. Then I was in the computer room and I heard the bathroom door squeaking open. When I looked the door hadn’t moved. My imagination? Or is it a little girl who likes to play tricks?

Jesus and Grandpa's Visit

I was in pre school in a private school in Salinas the name of the school is Salinas Christian School and people may think that toddlers may not remember such things but it was a special moment. I was 4 years old and the school had a little bike with training wheels and I was waiting and the school had a fence that we could look out of and I was looking out and I was singing about how much I missed my grandpa and wishing he hadn’t passed away and I turned to see if anyone was finished riding the bike and apparently nobody was so I looked out the fence again and I couldn't believe my eyes and I saw my grandpa standing right next to Jesus and I waved and said hi and they didn't respond and I yelled to the other kids and I said that’s my grandpa and they said I was crazy. I looked back and they were gone. I was happy to know that my grandpa came back just to see me. I am 12 now and I have been then telling my story. And I will always know my grandpa will always be beside me.

Daddy

On the 1st of May 2005 I got a call from my father who urgently wanted to see me. I was rather busy and brushed my dad off by saying I would see him later that day. My father then replied by saying that would be impossible because this would be the last time I would ever speak to him or even see him that day. Knowing that my dad was a very sick man it was rather upsetting to hear him say that. Later that day I was getting ready to go out because I couldn’t spend my birthday at home. As I put my clothes on I lift my head up and there my father was standing and smoking. Upset I told him that that would be the cause of his death one day! As my dad was taking a drag of his smoke he looked at me smiled and waved. I then looked down to put my shoes on but when I looked up my dad was gone. I started calling him but no response came from anywhere in the house. Minutes after that my cousin almost broke down my front door with tears rolling down her face telling me my father had died minutes ago. My question is do people know when it’s their time to go?

Knock Knock

One night when we were moving into this crummy old house so that we would have some where to live while we built our new house and we herd some one knock on the door. I being 9 said I would get it but there was no one there. I walked outside and looked around but never found anyone. A few minutes after I came back inside I heard another knock on the door. I was thinking it was some neighborhood kid so I motioned for everyone to just keep doing what they were doing and I would answer the door, well as soon as I answered the door I felt something icy cold go through me and the dogs started barking like crazy but nothing has happened since then.

Helpful Voices

At just 12 years, I have had a lot to do with the paranormal. It has become a way of life. (I'm also beginning to get physic abilities, just like my Mother).

But I wanted to point out that not only do I (very occasionally) SEE ghosts, I quite often HEAR them too. The weird thing is, I don't hear them in Their voice, I hear them in My voice (like in my head) - ya know, sort of like your conscience. This can make it hard to distinguish who it is, but generally I have this 'feeling' that tells me who is talking to me.

However, if the person talking to me seems 'bad', I simply tell them to 'go away', but, if it's 'good' - it is mostly my Nana - , I talk to her, and sometimes even have whole conversations. In these conversations, I sometimes receive 'advice', as such.

This one happened to me today. I was home alone (my brother was at work and my parents popped out for a while), and I decided to make a banana cake. When it was finished, I was making chocolate icing to go on top. As I was sifting some ingredients together, (quite vigorously and fast, I might add) I had some slight trouble - the ingredients seemed to 'clog' in the sift! It was at this point I heard a friendly voice in my head, (my Nana's I think) telling me to 'go slower' (sift slower), and so I did. I also had this overwhelming urge to lift the sift slightly above the bowl. As I did this, the ingredients I was sifting 'unclogged' and after that, I thanked my Nana for the simple advice :).

Rose Mansions

About two years ago I moved from Cape Town to Pretoria to live with my Brother. He lived in an amazing two room flat called Rose Mansions. One night he had friend over and I joined them in his bedroom, sitting over his door I could see straight down the wall. A young boy about the age of 7yrs crossed from the dining room straight to my bedroom (at that time). My brother asked me what just happened as the color of my face drained. We all got up me walking last to go and see what I really saw was true. My bedroom door was closed and I had about 50 Teddy’s on a sofa in my room. Every last teddy was scattered around in my room and I cleaned my room that morning. My bedroom felt like a freezer although I got the most sun in my room everyday. Three weeks later we moved. I still wonder what ever happened to the boy. "Oh I still have all my teddy’s and I’m up to 109."

Annie The Little Girl Ghost

When I was 14, I had a friend who experienced a lot of supernatural experiences. She used to tell me she experienced them both in her dad's house and her mom's house and once before she moved to the houses she previously lives in. When she was 3, she used to see her dead grandfather near the swing set in her backyard. When her mom asked her what she was doing, she replied, "I was playing with Grandpa..." Her mom was a bit worried and told her to come inside. Nothing happened for a while after that until she moved into her mom's house which was an old Civil War hospital.

The old Civil War hospital had a lot of strange happenings. One time my friend told me that she saw some of her dead cats and sometimes dead people. When I asked about the strange happenings my friend replied that she had one more story for me. She told me that every night something would bang the middle of her door at midnight and then it would go away. She never investigated this until I wanted to help. I was a bit to scared to spend the night with her but I said I would go and see her room in the day.

When we were there, I felt like there was something in the house. I had never seen a ghost or felt a presence before, but now I was sure that something was in her house. I decided to help my friend by figuring out how to stop this knocking on her door at night. I told her to try to talk to the knocking and say, "Hey is there anyone there?" After she did that the knocking stopped and the appearances began. Every once in awhile a ghost of a girl about age 7 would show up at my friend's house. Of course I still have never seen a ghost because I was too scared to spend the night at her house when these appearances showed up, but I do believe my friend because her brother saw them too. He was not a fibber, he would not lie.

So this little girl would go around the staircase in her mom's house at night when my friend was doing homework. When the ghost showed up, we decided she needed a name. My friend told me to think of a name, so I did. I came up with the name Cecilia because the ghost was Silly and the Sillia was a little lame. So I told my friend the name and one night she asked the ghost who started to knock again if her name was Cecilia and the ghost said, "No, that's my mom's name. My name is Annie..." After that, my friend continued to talk to her about stuff, much of it I don't remember.

The one thing they talked about was becoming friends. My friend asked Annie if she wanted to be her friend and Annie said yes. After about three weeks or so, the little ghost Annie told my friend she had to go and thanked her for being her friend. This was a bit creepy because during that time at my house, which was a few houses down, I was always feeling a presence in my basement room at night. I don't know exactly what happened at my house but all I know is that I knew something was there and it went away when the ghost in my friend's house left. Maybe it was Annie? I don't know. Annie before she left probably needed a friend before she could go home, and a friend she got!

Little Girl's Voice

For the last 10 or 12 years of my life, I lived peacefully in a home that was about 50-70 years old. Clearly, I enjoyed living there, very much. I am now 16, yet I trust that readers would understand. I cannot see, I cannot feel the presence of any ghost. I cannot tell if ghosts are real, or if I am schizophrenic. But I could hear.

This is JUST one supernatural story that I will tell you. It is based on the voice of a young girl I could hear in my house.

One late night, I stood whipping up some strawberry cream cheese on a bagel by the kitchen table. I was on the side, directly in front of the small room which lead to the backyard door. It was dark, but as I continued spreading the cheese, I heard a faint, yet intense whisper from inside there. It called my name. I instantly dropped everything, but the half bagel I held and ran into my little brother's room. He understood, because he sometimes sees strange things like shadows and blurs passing by.

Years ago, my cousin slept over a lot. She used to live there with me, so it was sort of a visit. Once, we could hear something clank on the kitchen table, like someone dropping a metal bowl. It stopped when I tip-toed out to the dark empty kitchen. And when I came back to the bedroom, it did it again, until we had to ignore it and sleep in. Another night, date is unknown, so yeah, my cousin slept over again. So we sleep in a bunk bed. I still have it in my new house. It's just behind me. Anyway, back in the old house, in a bedroom, I was fast asleep. The next morning my cousin looked at me with a concerned face. My little sister too. My cousin described a heavy, raspy breathing noise that hovered over our bed, heading towards the ladder, towards the upper bed, which was mine. Back then I didn't really believe in ghosts. I used to call it monsters, but I never believed in those either.

Then, years later, I became interested and sensitive to the thoughts of ghosts, demons, and miraculous wonders of God and others as a Catholic.

I wondered often, if a house this old, that wasn't blessed, had a lost soul inside of it, that might need my help. It was a creepy thought, but it was like a chance to help it. I asked my parents why they never decided to have it blessed. They kept saying "Too lazy." "Later" and things like that. So I never really cared. It wasn't until I had that strange whisper of my name by the little girl incident. But another year later is the thing now. It was daytime, and I was home alone. I decided to take a shower. I like to sing in the shower, and I sang freely. Sometimes, you get imaginations about creepy ghosts and the shower curtain. But I wasn't ready for anything like another voice to come. It was a clear, loud voice, as if someone else was behind the curtain, or even next to my ear. I had shampoo bubbles on my face, so I didn't dare to open my eyes. It was somewhat of a "La lalala", I quote. A girl's voice. It seemed to be making fun of my singing. I wasn't the least bit offended, but I was quite scared. I knew no one else could've been IN the bathroom, and I just said "Go away... Please.." just in case. Then I got pretty scared, and added a "sorry."
That was it.

Another year later, ...or say..several months ago, my cousin called my house, since my cell phone ran out of batteries, and I didn't charge it. That is I didn't know until her second attempt to call the house. Here's our discussion, or it kind of went along like this. Pretend my name is Kari. Pretend her name is Mizuki.
Mizuki:"Tu? Is that you?"
Kari: "Yeah, what is it?"
Mizuki:"..What was that?"
Kari:"What?"
Mizuki:"Well. I'm calling with my cell phone, and I have your home phone number on my list."
Kari:"I know."
Mizuki:"Why didn't you pick up just then?"
Kari:"Nobody called.."
Mizuki:"Kari. I think I heard the ghosts or whatever was on the phone. I just called your house, and the call is still in the "all calls" section. I'll show you at Sunday school. It was hard to hear but there was a woman and a man talking, like they're arguing..and then I heard someone screaming.. a girl or a woman I don’t know."

Then we just continued talking. We kept insisting each other about blessing the house. This time, we felt like we had to do the action. We went to a priest in my Sunday school. He was a young priest, and didn't seem so respectable, and I didn't trust that he'd really "bless" this house. My cousin and I and my sister decided to do this, home alone, with my eldest brother. Only my cousin, sister and I knew about this. My brother was like, "What the heck are you guys doing?? You're all schizophrenic. Jeez." I didn't care. I just wanted everything to stop. I felt like this is something the "little girl" might've wanted. The house was quiet when the priest blessed it. Then the news spread to my relatives. They laughed at us. It's quite embarrassing, but it worked. I felt that the girl's soul is no longer lost. Maybe in heaven. I don't know, but she never bothered me again.

2 months later, I moved into a new house. This one, an old man died in the master bedroom, of age. It isn't an old house. And, so far, all I know is, the priest blessed our souls along with the house. I haven't had any strange occurrences with lost souls ever since. I sort of miss them, and the little girl. ...Yeahh..The End. Maybe..

By The Window

My guy friend and I decided to talk the whole night by the boulevard. At one time, we decided to just walk around since it was boring just sitting down and talking. Then, we passed by the fire station that was brightly lit because it was open 24 hours a day. Then, right beside the fire station was a high school building which did not have any lights turned on at that time. We continued walking and talking, then, something caught my eye. There was a flicker coming from inside the window of the high school building. I had to stop and my guy friend wondered why I stopped. I said I'm seeing something like a flicker from a candle light. And then when he was looking in the same direction that I was looking, he also saw the flicker and then, slowly, another candle light appeared from what appeared to be from below the first candle light. It was scary since while we were looking at those lights, it was like the spirits that were holding those candle lights were looking straight at us. We then walked away but the candle lights were still there. And we decided to just pray for them---whoever they were...

A Few of My Experiences

When my boyfriend & I were 17, we moved out of our parents' houses & moved in together because we were about to have a baby. The house we moved into was my grandma's & she told us we should move in because she was in a nursing home & she didn't like the thought of her house being vacant with all of her things in it. Plus it would help us out because she wouldn't charge us rent. Now, I'm not exactly sure how old the house is but my grandma has owned it for about 30 or 35 years, but I think it was built in the 50s or 60s. Well, a few months after we moved in, things started happening. One experience we had was hearing people talking in the basement. The basement of the house was never finished. It was almost like an apartment. You had to get to it by going outside. There was no entrance to it from inside the house. It could have been finished & rented out if my grandma would have wanted to do that, but anyway it was creepy. The furnace was down there as was the washer & dryer. The house had forced air heaters & we were lying in bed one night & my boyfriend asked if could hear something. I asked "Like what?" He said he could hear people talking downstairs. I told him it was probably just the heater making weird noises (because it was on), plus I told him I had locked the basement door after doing laundry, so nobody could be down there. He insisted that I listen closer & when the heater turned off, I heard it too. I could hear men talking in the basement. I couldn't make out what they were saying, it was just murmuring, but it was definitely men's voices. I wasn't going to go down there & check because I didn't ever go down there after dark anyway. Other unexplained things happened too. TV's would turn on & off; the computer would turn on & off. One night while we were lying in bed with our door closed, the door opened. The knob turned & everything. We watched it happen. When our son got old enough to talk a little bit he would smile & point and talk to things or people that weren't there. My boyfriend claims that one night in bed he felt whom he thought was me rubbing his back & when he rolled over to kiss me, I was fast asleep. When my dad was about 15 or so he lived in the house with my grandma & grandpa & aunt. They had a dog that they had for about 10 years & he passed away & they buried him under the huge pine tree in the back yard. His name was Bandit. Well, when our son was about 3 years old we got him dog that we named Gordie. While we were at work we chained him to that same pine tree in the back yard. Well, one day when we got home, our son & I went out back to let Gordie off the chain & my son said "Mom, we can't chain Gordie to the tree anymore." I asked him why & he replied, "Because Bandit's getting mad." I couldn't breath for a minute, I was so shocked. No one had ever talked to him about Bandit. I knew about him because my dad loved that dog & used to talk about him when I was little, but my son had never even heard of him. Needless to say, we found another tree to chain Gordie to. We lived in that house for a little over 3 years. We had our experiences there, but nothing ever harmed us. We lived with a ghost or 2 I think. Whoever lived in that house before my grandparents is still there I think. We don't live there now, & the house is still sitting there vacant, & the spirits do not have to share it with anyone now.

Footsteps

It was about 3:50 am and my daughter came and got in bed with me, my husband goes to work around 3:00 am so this was normal time to time. After she laid down I heard footsteps in the carpet as I raised up thinking it might be my son, nothing was there. I turned to look at my daughter and she was as well sitting up anticipating him to walk in the room. We looked at each other and laid back down. Continuing to hear the steps in the thick carpet we just closed our eyes. This was a couple of months after we moved into our new house. Still to this day we have not mentioned it to each other. Not sure????

The Party

Once when I was about thirteen some friends and myself decided to have a party in this empty house down the street. We started the party about 7:00 p.m. We were all dancing and eating popcorn etc. when my friend Regina had to go to the bathroom, which was upstairs. It was kind of dark in the whole house, so we all went with her upstairs, the moment she came out of the bathroom we started hearing things like someone moaning. So we started to run downstairs, and as we got to the bottom of the stairs we looked back. There at the top of the stairs there was a lady with long white flying hair at the top of the stairs floating and moaning. Needless to say we all ran to the door to get out but the door was stuck and we couldn't get out. So we ran to the back door, it was stuck, remind you none of these doors was stuck when we got there. So we ran in the basement to try to get out that way, and we ran dead into a man and his dog with a bloody bone in his mouth. That really freaked us out, we scrambled to get out of the window and went to tell our parents. Soon as we finished the story my mother told me that the man I described with the dog had been dead for over twenty years, he use to kill little kids and give the bones to his dog. And as for the lady she was one of the little kids mother who searched that house looking for her child until the day she died.

A Nice Spirit

It was a quiet night about 8:00pm. A couple of my husband’s friends were over to visit. As the night went on, my girlfriend and I went into the living room and pulled out the Ouija board. (Now I adore the supernatural) so we sat down in the middle of the living room and started to ask it questions, trying to find someone who would talk with us...finally the pointer started to spell out this woman’s name and that she used to live close by and also that she was a good spirit. We went on, asking her basic questions, does she have kids, how did she die,....In the middle of answering our questions, she tells me to quickly run back to check on my son, (who was 1 at the time, we did as she said but he was undisturbed and sound asleep in his crib...so we came back and sat down and told her nothing was wrong with him, he’s asleep..so she tells me to do the same again, so we go back to his room, I open the door and there was this little black figure in the corner of his bed, I couldn’t really see because it was very dark in the but he vanished quickly....very eerie.

Thanks, Amber from Windsor, VT

The Peeper

I was home with my mom one night, and we discovered we had a ghost in the house. It started like a normal night. I was about to go to bed when I saw a creepy shadow outside the window. Then just like that, it vanished. I was scared so I asked my mom if I could sleep with her. She told me yes, so when I almost fell asleep, I saw a figure outside the window, but the room is on the SECOND floor!!! I told my mom and she looked through the window and saw it too. Now, about every 4-6 days, we always see a shadow looking through the window at night, and then it slowly vanishes...

The Little Girl

I was sitting on my chair next to my dressing table doing my homework when I heard a noise behind me. I turned around to see that there was nobody there. I turned around to carry on with my homework. I needed a ruler so I went to fetch one off my bedside table which also has a mirror on it, and I looked into my mirror and saw a little girl in a red t-shirt getting off my bed. I quickly turned around to see that there was nobody there. To this day I still hate looking in that mirror.

My Bad Beginning

Hello my name is Luke but I go by my middle name Byron, and this is my ghost story. I live in a small Mansion in a very small, uncharted town in South Dakota. The mansion is very old. It was built in the early 1800's. We moved in when I was 5 and that's when it all started. Ever since we moved in, I have seen, heard, and felt ghosts. Now most people believe in orbs and things like that, but ghosts can take form in different ways. The ghosts that I've seen, however, look just like real people. The difference between ghosts and people are that ghosts are slightly transparent and well, people aren't, and ghosts usually tend to have gray skin and old clothes, and depending on how they died they might be bloody or, yeah you get the picture. There has always been this one ghost though. His name is David. Him and I are actually kind of like friends. He died at the age of 18 and he and his family were the third family to live in the house after it was built. I have been haunted by ghosts ever since we moved to this little town of Crowville. Now some of you who may be from South Dakota have probably never heard of Crowville. Reason why is because it is hard to get to, being in the middle of the woods and all and we are a very private town. If you are not from this town than it is impossible to get to. Only the people from my town know the way to and from the town. The first thing that happened to me that I'll never forget, took place in the forest by my house. 3 weeks had past since we moved in and I decided to go play in the old well. As I was just playing I remember looking up and seeing a little boy standing there. He appeared to be my age (at the time) and he wanted me to come with him. His voice sounded like a child's but with a supernatural echo to it. He had black hair and gray skin, and a pair of torn up pajamas on. I followed him around in the forest until all of a sudden he vanished I just then realized I was lost. I started crying thinking I'd never see my mom and dad again, when all of a sudden I felt someone tap on my shoulder. I turned around and this scary looking woman screamed in my face and scratched me across my left cheek. I took off running not knowing where I was going. It seemed that everywhere I looked these creepy people started to pop up. I finally made it home and when I turned around they disappeared right before my eyes. Another scary ghost encounter that I've had took place in my house last year. I was lying in bed when I heard a girl crying and whaling. I looked down the hall and I saw a girl walking toward the stairs. I followed her up stairs and when I turned the corner, I looked up and she was hanging from the balcony. Then just like that she was gone. I've also had an experience with moving shadows. One day when I was walking down the hallway, I thought I saw my shadow move without me moving. At the time of day this took place, my shadow was on the wall next to me but one step in front of me. I kept walking when I started hearing whispers. Then out of nowhere, my shadow ran of the wall to the other side of the hall, right in front of me. Scary things have happened to me all my life and I hope that no one else will ever have to experience what I have. I'm only 14 (turning 15 this Oct.) so I am one of the unlucky kids in America. I hope to tell more about what's happened to me in the very near future.

A Dream or A Warning?

One night about 2 years ago I awoke after a terrible nightmare. I had a dream where I was walking down a highway. A car was headed into the wooded area by the side of the road. It crashed into a tree. I ran towards it, to find the driver was my father! I couldn’t believe it. I felt this wasn't a dream. In my dream, I saw a road sign. It seemed so real, the crash. I woke up screaming after I saw my father in the seat. After I shouted, My mom walked in...alone. I asked her where dad was. She said he had gone to take a drive. Immediately I told her dad was dying. That he was in a crash...and dying. Being 15 at the time, my mom took my warning a little seriously. She called the police and told them what highway I thought him to be at. 10 minutes later, I fell back asleep. I dreamt of the crash, my dad still inside, but flashing lights around us. I saw men working to get my dad free from the vehicle. My mom woke me up minutes later. "Dad was in an accident. He nearly died!" she whispered. He was now in the hospital, critically injured. Funny thing is, when we arrived at the hospital, a paramedic gave me a strange look. He asked me if I knew the man in the accident, which I replied yes to. "Wow. It's funny, but when we were at the crash site, I saw a glowing white figure that looked just like you." he said, and wandered off. I had always believed that when you sleep, the soul leaves your body. And my soul went to be with my father to help him.

The Whistling Ghost

When I was married to my ex husband we lived in his grandmother's house for a short time. During the time that we lived there I had many strange encounters, but the one that stands out to me the most is the evening that I heard the whistling ghost. I was home with my kids and my husband had gone deer hunting with a neighbor. I was upstairs and my kids were asleep at the time. Suddenly I felt like there was someone in the house with me. I walked out into the hallway from my room to see if it was my husband trying to scare me but no one was there so I turned to go back into my room and just then I heard someone whistling downstairs. I walked to the top of the stairs and shouted down and asked, "Who is down there?" And it stopped. I turned to walk back down the hall and it started again so this time I walked down the stairs into the living room and looked around. This time it continued until I reached the bottom of the stairs. At this point I was not scared because I still thought it was my husband playing a trick on me. As I rounded the corner from the living room to the kitchen the whistling started again and a kettle flew off the stove and across the room right by my head. The whistling got louder and the grandfather clock in the living room that had not worked in 20+ years started to chime. I ran up the stairs and went in to check on my kids. They were still sleeping so I called my husband [in tears I might add,] and asked him to please come home. I stood in the hall between my kids' rooms until he got there because I was afraid for them. He got there in about 20 minutes but it felt like 3 hours! The funny thing is, as he was coming up the long gravel driveway leading to the house he saw a man in very old style clothing like back in the late 1800's. He stopped and asked if he needed help and the man walked right on by him and disappeared behind the car. We stayed there for 3 more months and there was always something strange going on. Things would turn up missing and something would whisper your name in your ear while you were trying to sleep. The horses would run and whinny in the middle of the night as if something was chasing them and at midnight every Tuesday if you stood by the open upstairs bathroom window you could hear a woman let out a blood curdling scream from the woods behind the house. Nobody has lived there for a while now but the neighbors still tell us about hearing screams and seeing lights come from the house.

Night of Horror

Before in my old house my dad worked third shift. So at night my dad would come in about midnight. But one night it was different! I was sleeping very light, and my Dad was so tired he fell asleep on the floor. I heard him snoring so I was going to cover him up. And that is when I saw it! The thing was white and very bright. It came from the kitchen. Then it started to move. I was terrified. It started to move toward my Dad! I ran to my room. (Which I could still see the thing.) Then I stood in my room and tried to figure out what it was, but couldn't. I knew it was not my dog because he was locked in my Mom and Dad's room. Then it was coming towards me! I didn't know what to do. So I did what I could do. I grabbed a bat and started for it. But all of a sudden I lost my courage and ran to my top bunk. Then I fell fast a sleep.

The next morning I found blood on my nightgown. And scratches all over my body.

P.S. For anybody that says this is not true especially parents this is a true story. I'm dead serious!

Tag, You're It!

It was the summer of 2002. My family and I had just moved into our large farm. At first it was fine. Nothing out of the ordinary. Then about a year after we moved in something happened. I had just gotten home from spending the night with one of my friends when I heard something fall in my room. I at first thought it was my t.v. so I ran in. Everything looked fine until I looked over at my bed. There sat a girl about the age of 8 or 9. She smiled at me and said nothing. I thought it was one of my younger sisters friends so I said hi, and asked her why she was in my room. She still said nothing and smiled. I asked her where my sister was at and she shrugged. I sat down beside her. She started laughing and I asked her why she was laughing. She poked me and said "Tag, your it!" and disappeared. I sat there wondering if what just happened was something that I had imagined. I got up and went to my mom. I asked my mom if she knew who lived there before us. She stared at me for the longest time and finally said "You saw her didn't you?" She began to tell me that her grandma had lived here with her two daughters. Anna, and Emily. (My grandmother is Anna) Emily had gotten sick in the room that I stayed in and shortly after had died. My mom said that my grandma told her stories of when Emily and her would run around in the yard playing tag. Emily's favorite game.

Haunted Attic

While my husband was in the military. We were stationed in Bitburg, Germany. We lived in a house that had been made into a three family dwelling. My husband, daughter and my self lived in the front apartment. It was a two story with an attic that had the furnace in the very top of the house. While in bed one night I heard what sounded like the furnace door being opened and slammed shut. My husband was lying beside me and said he heard nothing. Our daughter’s room was next to our room and would never go to bed without me staying with her until she was asleep. She said that she was afraid of the old lady that looked at her when she was in her bed. Our landlords once occupied the house and a private dwelling and the house belonged to her mother. She lived and died in the room occupied by my daughter. We found this out after we moved into Gov. Quarters. The door to the attic was very hard to open, but one night while we were going up to go to bed my husband had duty that night and was not home, the door to the attic popped open and I grabbed my daughter and we flew down the stairs and slept in the living room with the doors locked. The house I feel was haunted by the residence that once lived there and made it their home years before.

I Saw Him Again That Night

One night, a few months after my boyfriend died, I was sitting alone in my room watching tv. My parents had gone away for the weekend, and my brother was asleep. I decided to go downstairs and get a glass of water, so I switched off the TV and went downstairs. A few minutes later, I got back into my room to see the TV back on. I checked on my brother, and found him still asleep. The TV had been tuned to some old movie, but now it had switched to the same show my boyfriend and I used to watch together! A bit shaken, I looked on the bed and saw the last picture we had taken together, before his fatal accident. We had been goofing off at my house, camera on hand to take it all in. I picked up the photo, and just as I was about to place it down, I swore I felt someone stroke my hair and grab my hand. I turned around, only to see a glowing light slowly fading away. The next morning, my brother said he had a dream that my boyfriend had told him to watch over me, and make sure I was happy. He visited me that night, and even stopped to say goodbye to my brother.

Haunted Hotel in New Orleans

Hi, my name is Sadie and I live in Mandeville, Louisiana. Anyway, we went to go spend the night in one of New Orleans many haunted hotels. I didn't believe in ghosts, at least not until AFTER my experience in the hotel. We had the Imperial Suite in the West Wing Tower. Well, there were four rooms. One for my mom and daddy, one for my brother Ben, one for my brother Jack, and me. Well, in the middle of the night I woke up, and I had a strange feeling. I look in the corner of the room, and I see this well-defined man, just sitting in the chair. He smiled at me in an eerie way, and then in an instance, he was gone. I ran into my parent’s room, and I slept on the couch in there. I was NOT going back in that room. When we checked out, I couldn't help asking, "Did someone else rent that room last night?" "No," the guy at the checkout desk said. Then he smiled, giggled, and said "Looks like you had a visit from Kevin. He died in there from a stroke." I just stood there completely in shock. I was so freaked out I couldn’t sleep for a week! It was the Four Seasons Hotel in New Orleans, but if you do go there, it is very nice. But watch out for Kevin!!!

My Grandma's House

When I was a young child my brothers and I would go to stay with our grandparents for a few weeks out of the summer. We had been doing this for as long as we could remember so the strange things that always happened to us there had become commonplace to us. But one summer in particular stands out in my mind as the most frightening thing that ever happened to me. The house was very large, three stories high with five bedrooms and a summer kitchen on the back. Only three of the bedrooms were used since their nine children had grown and moved away. One rainy afternoon my brothers and me were playing in the bedroom on the top floor when we began to smell a putrid smell like rotten eggs. We decided to open a window to air the room out and we could not get the window to budge. My oldest brother grabbed an old crow bar and tried to open the window with it when we heard a voice very deep and sinister say, “stop that!” We all ran for the exit door at the same time but it would not open. We started to scream and beat on the door but we knew that all of the adults were on the first floor and would never hear us. So we turned away from the door and that is when we saw her standing there behind us. She was a tall woman with long dark hair and big red eyes. She had a very thin face and an old floor length dress with an apron on. She stretched out her arms and smiled and said, “Stay with me children”. We all ran for the other side of the room away from her as she floated toward us. We ran into the closet and slammed the door, we were all crying. We hid there for what seemed like forever but was really just a matter of minutes. Suddenly the door flew open and we all screamed out! It was our mom!!!THANK GOD!!!We told her what had happened and she said that we had seen old milly. She told us that her parents bought the house from old milly 40 or so years earlier and that milly had lost her kids in a freak accident. She told us that when she was a child old milly would tuck them in at night. This is just one of the strange things that happened to us in that house but to me that is the worst one by far.

I Love Lucy

My friend once told me that when her parents had just gotten married, they moved into this tiny little brick house. They had heard a woman had died there, an older woman. She said that every night at 11:00 the TV would turn on to I Love Lucy reruns. They once tried to hide the remote from the old lady, but she found it every time. They moved out after my friend was born, but she tells every one what happened.

The Roll Right Stones, England

Hello,

I wrote and recorded a song about the 'Roll Right Stones' back in 1984 while I was living in England at RAF Upper Heyford as a young man. The place inspired me. Such resonance surrounds the stones. I would love to visit it again.

I remember an old farmer telling my two friends and myself about the 'Whispering Knights', and some other bits and pieces about the 'Eldern Tree', and how it was taken down because it was thought to be a 'Witch' keeping any eye on her bounty. Of course we stood by the 'King Stone', took our strides forward, and saw the tip of the church tower of
'Long Compton'.

Please let anyone who wants to, listen to this song called 'The Stones' by going to these links
http://www.mp3.com.au/track.asp?id=87167
and
http://www.wintersteel.com/Rollright_Stones.html

It will definitely bring back the feeling of enchantment I got when I went there. Or just type my name in the Google search engine, along with The Stones and you will find it.

Thanks,

The Story of a Ghost Song

Hello,

This is the story of a song I wrote about an experience I had with the ghost of a woman actress from the 1800's. I was staying at a friends place in Longmont, Colorado last April 2006. It used to be called 'The Times Call' building years ago.

The upstairs where I stayed had been closed off since 1964. There is a calendar hanging on one of the doors in the apartment looking over Main St. The page is still on April 1964. In the late 1800's they used to print one of the local newspapers, 'The Times Call', on the 1st floor. There was a big explosion from a gunpowder barrel, in the basement next door in the 1870's, and the building and the adjacent buildings had to be rebuilt as a result of the fire that ripped through walls of half a city block. 'The Dickens Opera House' at the end of the street was spared. A bystander, who was standing on top of the opera house at the time of the explosion, was blown off to the roof of a building below. He was spared with an injured leg. A business across the street had all its windows blown in from the shock wave. The woman inside was frantic, and ran out of her shop screaming with the blood streaming down from her cuts and bruises.

After the dust settled, and a couple of years went by, the block was rebuilt and ready for action. 'The Times Call' building started printing again, but used the 2nd floor as a boarding house, instead of the owners living there. They rented out rooms, a hot bath, and a meal for people coming and going on the old locomotives and stage coaches. One of the patrons happened to be a semi-famous actress, who must have traveled across the country performing in various venues for the general public. I wish I knew her name.

These days the interior of the upstairs looks like something from an old western movie. There are old skylights on the ceiling, the wallpaper is slowly peeling off, and the hard wooden floors are warped as if everything is sinking into the middle of the main living room. In fact the water in the fish tank, against one of the walls, leans toward the center of the room. Watch out for the staircase that leads down to the street level. It leans one side higher than the other as well from old age.

Last spring while I was playing guitar and working on some new music, I thought I saw someone out of the corner of my eye. In fact, I'd been staying there for a few weeks by then, and thought I felt some sort of presence there. That night when I went to bed, I put on a video. 'The People Who Live Under the Stairs'. I fell asleep and I felt a cold whisper in my ear. I woke up to find the movie still playing and the face of a woman on the TV. screen. I felt the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. That was about 2 a.m. in the morning. I tried to go back to sleep, but my mind was on high alert.

A few hours later I made some coffee, and started to play my guitar. I felt a presence in the room again, but it felt friendly, as if it liked what I was playing. As I played, I came up with a nice chord progression, some lyrics, and a cool chorus line. An hour or so later I finished writing my song called 'U Don't Know'. The vibe in the place was electric.

My friend Joe, the present owner of the building, came home around 10 a.m. I told him about my experience the night before, and the song that I wrote about it. He told me he knew about a presence in the building, but didn't want to scare me. He said he had had some friends over in the past that felt the same sort of energy that I did. He asked me what the ghost sounded like. I said 'A woman in her 30's maybe'. He asked me what she looked like. I described her and his jaw dropped to the floor.

Joe asked me to wait in the room while he went to get something. He came back ten minutes later with an old photograph he had been keeping in storage with other old artifacts. These things where still upstairs when he first bought the building a year before. Remember the upstairs had been locked up for years. When he showed me the photo, it was a black and white picture of a lady in her late 20's, dressed in an old western theater outfit. She was the same lady I had seen the night before. I was shocked!!!

I stayed there for a few more weeks, and every time I played guitar and sang she would let her presence be known. It was a friendly presence as it turned out. So now when I go to visit my friend Joe, at 'The Times Call' building, she lets me know she's still there.

Here's a link to the song I wrote about her

The Man is Gonna Get Me!

I don't remember this anymore because it happened when I was 2 but my mom told me. One night my mom was going to sleep and she heard me yelling. She walked into my room and I was saying, "The man is gonna get me! The man is gonna get me!", she had just gotten me to sleep when she heard the floor creak. She turned around and saw a dark figure creeping across the room. She assumed it was my dad so she went back to bed, dad was in there, asleep, with the tv on. I've only ever seen him in the shape of an orb after that and only once. I was having a terrible dream and I immediately woke to gentle shake of my shoulder almost like a grandfather would give and I opened my eyes and there was a floating ball above my bed. I was actually even more comfortable in that house than I had ever been. I felt protected. To this day I miss that house.

Wickedness in the Spirit Realm not Human Spirits

I have had many supernatural experiences. As both a non-Christian and Christian, I have had both Godly and demonic experiences, and as much as people don't like to hear it, I must say, the bible is right.

Before I became a Christian, I saw and experienced spirits in my room that tried to hold me down and prevent me from speaking. Both my wife and I have seen entities in our room that were darker than the room itself. My three-year-old son has pointed toward and told us of "bad guys" that purposely tried to scare him.

But here's what the bible says in

Eph 6:11-13
Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles (tricks) of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood (people), but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
NKJV

Listen people, I make no apologies for telling you of my trust in Jesus that we were able to take authority over any spirits in our home and tell them to leave -they must and they did.

I've been studying things of the spirit realm for over four years and have come to know that there are no human spirits on earth after people die -they are what the bible refers to as "familiar spirits" -Spirits that know your family and have been around the generations in your family -the same spirits that told the native Indians that they were their ancestors, the same spirits that phycics use to tell you of things that they see going on in your family.

Spirits of Principalities, Rulers, and wickedness -lying spirits that can impersonate people we know who are not subject to the physical laws we are. We trust in our physical senses to try to identify spirits and they count on that to get your attention, to be acknowledged, etc.

After all, if you believe that your loved one who passed away is still on earth, then they’re obviously not in heaven.

Feel free to send me your comments and thoughts:

Red Ghostly Eyes

This happened a few months ago at my house. I was walking out of my room to go to the bathroom. It was around 12 at night and everything was dark, so I was feeling around for the light switch to turn on the bathroom light. I went to the bathroom, and came out. I decided that before I went off to bed, I would check my hotmail on the computer. As I went to check it, I looked over at the guest bedroom. I always have uncomfortable feelings when I'm in or next to that room. I got chills down my spine while walking over to the computer. I could tell something was not right in that room. As I was looking, by the bed, I saw two red glowing eyes staring at me. I thought it could be my cat, but my cat didn't have red eyes, plus he was sleeping in my room... I don't have brothers or sisters and my parents were sleeping... so it couldn't be them... The red eyes started coming toward me, and then I ran back into my room without looking back. I locked the door, and hid under my covers. I was scared to death. The next morning, I came out of my bedroom, looked into the guest bedroom, and I saw nothing. I haven't seen it since, but I still have a very uncomfortable feeling whenever I go into that room. I'm afraid of it. DEATHLY afraid.

The Tapping Alarm Clock

Something really strange started happening in my bedroom in the middle of the night. Tapping noises were coming from my alarm clock radio and it was waking me up. Every time I would look at the time it was always 3:15 and the tapping would stop. The tapping only happened when I was asleep or half asleep never while I was awake. Anyway this went on almost every night for almost a week when something happened that really scared me. I was half asleep when I heard the tapping start and I tried to ignore it but the tapping became louder and faster so I turned over to look at the clock and I couldn’t believe what was in my room. Standing over by my dresser were 3 small figures 2 or 3 feet tall. My room was dimly lit so they looked like grey forms and the moment I saw them they came straight for me and went under my bed which jumped off the floor. I quickly turned on the light and ran outside and stayed the rest of the night in my truck.

Best Place To See A Ghost

I never knew my husband's father when he was well. He was a diabetic and either couldn't or wouldn't control it himself. As a result of this he lived in a nursing home. We sometimes took him for a week-end. I took books from the library to fix him his favorite foods, sugar-free. One fall day we got the dreaded call from the nursing facility that Dad had suffered a massive stroke and we'd better come at once. We got there quickly, but it took all day for him to go. He died about sundown. The nursing home was more than an hour from home so my husband and his brother more or less split up Dad's things there. We took home his favorite stetson hat and his walking stick.

The night of the visitation, we got in late after visiting with people rarely seen. My husband is very morbid about death and very upset so I gave him a valium. He went out like a light. I read a book, took a long hot bath, and puttered in the kitchen until very late before I slid in beside him. I hadn't gotten all the way to sleep when my Siamese cat, who slept on my feet outside the covers, yowled, jumped off the bed, and raced away. Because this had never happened before I turned over and sat up. There at the foot of our bed, in our bedroom stood my father-in-law! He stood straighter than I had ever seen him stand. He looked healthy and younger. He was wearing the stetson hat we had left in the trunk of our car. He was holding his walking stick that was right beside it in the trunk. He had always cleared his throat before he spoke. He did that just as I said, "Oh, my God!" and in a flash he was gone. There was a minimum of light in the room because we kept the bathroom light on and the door cracked so my husband could find his way to the bathroom, yet I had seen every small detail of his face and clothes. I saw the large ring he was never without, with its large purple stone. My brother-in-law had taken that at the nursing home. Why did he come to me? My husband saw nothing. He isn't even sure he believes this.

I told my friend about it and she said to keep his things out of the house, but chances are he would not return. I left them in the trunk. One day I was driving home from work on the freeway, thinking about this when it struck me, considering my reaction when he showed up at the foot of my bed, what if I looked over and saw him in the passenger seat??? I would probably wreck the car. So I took them out of the trunk and put them in our attic. That is the best place to see a ghost, maybe. I think I forgot them when I moved. I don't seem to have them anymore. Was his appearance to me because while he was dying and struggling for each breath I prayed it would be over fast, then felt guilty about it? Did he not know his son was drugged and unable to see him or talk to him? I am no expert in these things but although he was always welcome in our home when he was alive, I hope I never see him again.

Lonely Highway

In 1976 my wife and I drove cross country with my brother Willie from Oregon to South Carolina. I was driving with my brother Willie up front with me and my wife in the back seat. She got tired and was laying down. It is very desolate between Bend and Burns and we had not seen any houses or passed any cars for miles. Then in the distance ahead, we could see someone in the road. As we got closer, we could see it was a woman, wearing an ankle length white flowing gown, twirling and turning as she danced down the middle of the highway. She appeared to be floating at times though. Very scared, but, curious, we decided to stop as we approached her. I rolled down my window and said "Do you know how far it is to Burns?" She looked over at us and seemed very pleased to have run into 2 men in the middle of nowhere! She walked over to the car and bent down to look into the window at us. Her gown was blowing around slightly, although there was not a breeze at all. My wife sat up in the backseat at this point to see what was going on. As the woman in the road saw my wife in the backseat, her expression quickly changed from friendly to one of extreme frowning. And I do mean extreme frowning! It was very eerie. My brother Willie, who had served 2 tours of duty in Vietnam and wasn't afraid of anything, yelled "Hit it!!" meaning for me to hit the gas and get out of there. I did just that. Looking in my rear view mirror and with my wife looking out the back window as we flew on up the highway, the woman stayed there looking at us for a few minutes and then turned and continued twirling around dancing down the road out in the middle of nowhere.

The Witch

My husband’s grandfather told him this story. Well many years ago, in a small town in Mexico, his grandfather said that he knew this man that had been living in a two story house, one really hot summer night he went outside on the second floor balcony to get some air. He was looking out, when all of a sudden a group of dogs started barking at a tree. What looked like a big bird fell out of the tree at this point the dogs had surrounded the bird when a couple of seconds later a woman rose up from the group of dogs! The woman ran off into her house nearby. The old man was terrified, he knew she was a witch doctor practicing transformations. A few days later he saw her at a local store with scratches all over her. The old man never told anyone who the woman was.

Quija Board

I never really wanted to tamper with the supernatural, so when my roommates suggested we play with a Quija board I was really quite nervous. I always believed there was evil behind this particular type of game. My friend had a boyfriend that had passed away that she was very much in love with and on several occasions had conversations with him and he would answer her questions. We asked it things like, "Is Elvis dead and is Tupac dead?" and other silly no-nonsense questions to start off with. Most of the time her boyfriend would stay on the board but sometimes it would go crazy. Now I know I never moved it on purpose, but you can't ever be sure the other people weren't. Well one time my biological dad had sent me a check for like 300 dollars for my birthday and I needed it really badly. When I got the check I had to send it too my mom's house so my step-dad could cash it for me because I couldn't cash a personal check at the time. I mailed it only 90 miles away and after 2weeks I hadn't received it yet, so I asked the Quija board if and when I would receive it and my friends boyfriend came on and told me that I would get it the next day before I went to work. Sure enough, 10am my step dad pulled up in front of my apartment and brought the cash to my door. For some reason the mail kept coming back to him so he decided to drive 90 miles to bring it to me. That was the first time I ever really believed in the Quija board. Shortly after that my friend said she was talking to her boyfriend on the board and she felt something wet dripping down her forehead, she had been sitting there for sometime, she got up to look in the mirror and noticed a large amount of blood streaming down her face. Apparently he had gotten mad at her and had caused this to happen. After that she got rid of the board and hasn't spoken with him since. I haven't gotten on there either for fear of opening up a door to a not so nice place.

I'll Tuck You In

I was staying at my grandma's house, and apparently I stayed in the "haunted room." Let me set it up first. An old lady died in there. Ok? Ok. Well, anyhew, it was getting close to bedtime. I got ready then soon fell asleep. I woke up at about one in the morning to find I was tucked in, which I hadn't been when I went to bed. I just assumed it was my grandma and I untucked myself since I was hot. At about three I woke up again and was tucked in again. I knew my grandma was being nice, but I didn't want to be tucked in! After I got comfortable I quickly fell asleep. I woke up the next morning to find myself tucked in AGAIN!!! I was going to tell grandma I appreciated, but didn't like it. When I went to tell her she looked confused, then smiled and chuckled. She told me that the ghost of the old lady was a nice one, and it must have looked like I was cold...

Nightmare Terror

I've never really believed in ghosts and other supernatural beings, but one occurrence did slightly convert me. It was around when I was 9 and my brother was 7. I had been asleep in my room when around midnight I suddenly woke up. I stared at the nightlight (my brother and I shared a room and he needed a nightlight) when I saw this shadow of a man. I got really freaked out and thought it was my brother, but he was asleep. I then looked at the closet which had a light in it. My brother had turned it on before we'd fallen asleep. But I had turned it off later. Yet after I saw the shadow, I noticed the light had turned back on. I was too scared to really turn it off, so I pulled the covers over my head and fell asleep. The next morning I asked my brother if he had woken up at all last night, and he said no. I have since moved out of that house, and I never want to go back again.

And Gladys Still Lives There

My brother-in-law lived with us from the time we married, until he did. He was kind of at loose ends until he met this lady he eventually married. She was divorced and owned a house. Some time later she asked me to go upstairs to a small apartment with her. She had a collection of antique dolls in glass front cabinets around the largest room. In the center of the room was a maple rocking chair with a cushioned back and seat, but it was turned over on it’s side. I set the chair up and sat down in it. She was working on her dolls in a cabinet and turned to me saying to be sure to turn that chair back over before we left. Of course I asked her why. She replied that when she went up there alone and it started to rock, it scared her. She went on to tell me that she and her ex-husband had built that apartment for her friend Gladys who had no relatives but was terminally ill. They made a pact that if my sister-in-law would take care of her until she died, Gladys would leave everything to her. She lived there until she died, and to hear her tell it, she still did.

A few years later we lost our apartment and ended up moving into that very same apartment. I hadn’t even thought about all this until we had moved in. Nothing weird happened and I forgot about it. The following summer on either a Friday or Saturday night (because it wasn’t a work night) I stayed awake until very late to finish a book. I checked on my kids sprawled on their beds across the big room and turned out the lamp. Almost immediately I heard a shuffling sound that I could not identify coming from the kitchen. It sounded like someone walking through the room wearing moccasins on the tile floors, but not lifting their feet. I raised up again to check on the kids and they hadn’t moved. I lay back down and the noise came right up to the side of my bed. Right between me and my kids and bent down over me laying there. I would not open my eyes, I just lay there scared to death. Then the bed started shaking. My husband lay on the far side of a king size bed, turned towards the wall so my lamp wouldn’t bother him but the shaking bed woke him. “Honey, honey, what is the matter?” Without opening my eyes I said, “Turn on the light!” He crawled over me and turned on the lamp. The kids hadn’t moved. Everything was as it had been before. So many times I have wished I had opened my eyes. I don’t know why I did not.

After I told my experience my brother-in-law related one very similar when they got in late, from somewhere, before they got married and she put him to bed up there in that apartment. He said that is why he never stayed over again until he married her and had her in bed for protection!

Later on someone came into my office with that address. I asked him if he ever slept upstairs over the garage. He looked at me either embarrassed or angry and asked me what I knew about that? I told him I used to live there. He said well, to be quiet about it because he had the house up for sale. I don’t blame him a bit. I would have sold it too.

Another Little Girl At Our House

The house my daughter and her husband bought in Spring, Texas was certainly not the type of dwelling you look at and wonder if it is haunted. It was on a street of about 50 identical 20 yr old houses. The average four bedroom, two bath, two story with a two car garage sticking out in the front. I had just retired and had gone to Texas to do what I do best in the world. I babysat for the three cutest little stair-step granddaughters in the world. My daughter had just separated from her husband and had taken a job requiring traveling several nights a week. I will now admit I never felt comfortable in that house. I slept in the living room on the sofa bed. I always felt as if someone was staring at me. I am not usually spooky about staying alone. The hair would raise on my arms for no apparent reason while I was reading or watching TV. One day I was in a recliner, my back to the stairway with the seven month old standing in my lap. She was looking over my head jabbering at someone on the stairs. Smiling and then waving bye-bye. I assumed one of the older girls had awoke from their nap, but I turned and no one was on the stairs or landing.

One Sunday evening Grandpa had driven down to visit, because he missed me and was hoping I would come home with him. I had put the two little girls to bed and had just finished combing out the oldest girl’s extremely long blond hair after washing it. She and Grandpa had been watching some show on TV while I was doing it. She asked to stay up until it was over. I told her she could stay up for the rest of the show if she sat there on the couch with Grandpa until the clock struck 8:00 PM. She agreed to go on to bed when it was over. I went into the dining room to return my hairbrush to my purse when I saw a little girl running from the bathroom into Mom’s bedroom, long, wet hair flying. I yelled at my granddaughter saying she promised to stay on the couch with Grandpa until their show on TV was over. They both said at once, “I am” and “She is!” Looking across the room I saw both of them on the couch. Who was that I saw running through the house? The other girls look nothing like the older one. When my daughter returned I talked to her about it, she said both she and her husband had seen something too. She said once after the kids were all in bed they were sitting in the kitchen when the girl ran past the window right in front of them, she went upstairs to check and her daughter was fast asleep.

Most of the time it was just an uneasy feeling. That if you could turn around fast enough you would see something. A feeling of being watched, especially from the top of the stairs and that the hairs on the back of my neck and on my arms wouldn’t stay laying down. The kids never once mentioned seeing or feeling anything. They were still very small when she bought a new house. I stayed in that house totally alone and also many time with all of the kids and never once felt anything. But peaceful.

Hit By A Shadow

This story happened about 7 years ago in an old house I used to live in. I had a dream I was in someone’s apartment sitting on the couch in a room with 5 other people there. I decided to speak to a young lady sitting beside me when I was hit in the face by someone. As I woke up I could still feel the pain on my face and there was a large shadow looking down at me. As soon as I saw this black shadow figure it flew to the left of my vision and disappeared into the wall. I am positive this thing hit me while I was sleeping. Thank god I have never seen it since.

Hole In The Wall

I was moving into my cousins trailer when we found a box containing some things that belonged to his step-dad’s dead brother. My cousin told me to leave it alone but I looked through everything and decided to keep a cool looking medal. The next day my cousin came into the room I moved into, woke me up and said "what the @#$% is this!" as he was pointing to the wall. It was a hole as big as a man’s fist in the wall by the closet. I told my cousin I didn’t do it, and he said well somebody came in here last night and did it. To this day the hole remains a mystery. I put the medal back in the box because I don’t want the ghost to kill me. I am still afraid of this room even though I haven’t seen anything yet.

The House In Orchard Mesa

My brother his sometimes lady friend, his two boys, two dogs and myself rented a two bedroom house in the orchard mesa area of Grand Junction Colorado. We moved in July 14,05, and right away things began to happen. We would hear cars pulling into our driveway which was gravel, and voices approaching the house, but no one was there. This could be at any time day or night. Several times there would be headlights. We tried to lay the ghost with the help of Steigers book on hauntings esp and ghosts. Didn't work, but it did seem to wake up a spirit we named Gertie in the house. She appeared many times as a cold area that was about the size of a softball. Twice she appeared as a vague form of a woman in early 1940's dress, skirt, sandals, nice ironed shirt, and brown hair. She would have been about 5 foot tall in life. She would warn us if dinner was burning, or if guests were coming by a direct feeling of what was wrong. Once one of the boys was stung by a bee when he was with his bio mom. Gertie kept trying to tell us the kid was sick. His dad lifted his shirt and found the site of the sting. It took 3 E.R. visits to get him cleared up. Gertie has attached her self to us and we love her. When we moved out in Feb of 06, we know she moved with us, we had just came home from a day out, and we heard a woman saying the dogs had been let out and one had run off. Sure enough, our maintenance man had done some work and let the dogs out into the back yard. We had to drive over ten miles to find the missing dog up where we use to live. Gertie use to play with the dogs, as they would sit and act if they were being groomed. She’s still with us and we will miss her when she fades out for good, but she has become a part of our lives and we will grieve for her when she crosses over. We researched with our neighbors who were longtime residents of the neighborhood. Gertie was her name, and she died of cancer in her early thirties shortly after moving into the house. We won't know who originally owned the property but two other women had died of cancer in the house also.

I Got To See Nan

Hi, my name is Carley and I’m 18. Less than two months before my 16th birthday my Nan unexpectedly died in the hospital. She had been taken in a bout 3 weeks previous and everyone assumed that she would get better and come to live in my house with me, my parents and my two other siblings who are now 20 and 26. The night before she had died, my whole family went to the hospital to see her but I didn't go as I had been out in the rain and just wanted to get showered and hit the hay. I felt so bad that I was the only member of the family who didn't get to say goodbye to my Nan that I had been so close to. When my Nan died my sister was 17. In the February after my Nan had passed in the September, we all found ourselves celebrating my sister’s 18th birthday. The day was nearly over and we were having the traditional Sunday party tea (that my Nan always had with us) I went into the kitchen to make some crackers with cheese and placed the knife I was using into the center of the breakfast bar, away from the edge. As I looked away, I heard the knife falling to the floor. As the knife had not been knocked off and was away from the edge, I was confused and annoyed at why the knife had fallen. I shrugged my shoulders and simply picked the knife back up. As I stood up, I looked out into the hallway and saw my Nan standing there smiling at me. She looked younger than she had when she died and appeared to have her own teeth back. I told my Mum what I had seen. To my amazement, my Mum told me that for a couple of days before my sister’s birthday that she had been asking my Nan to come to my sister’s birthday because this would be my sister’s first birthday without my Nan. I wondered for ages why she had made herself visible to me. I then remembered that I hadn’t got to see her before she died and she was attending my sister’s birthday and giving me the closure I needed. I’ve never seen her again but me and my Mum have both felt someone’s hand on our heads and my dog always stares and barks into the empty hallway.

The Haunted House Next Door

Years ago I lived in Topeka Kansas with my young family. We were looking for a larger house and found an ad in the newspaper. We went to pick up the key at a bank. The lady who gave us the key told us to check out the house next door, to the right, that it was her house and they were being transferred. Well the house we called about had water standing in the basement and we were not interested, but the lady’s house looked very nice. We bought that house and as time passed the house next door eventually sold. The family who moved in had two children also and they were exactly our kids' ages. The husband was some sort of traveling salesman who spent several nights on the road. The wife was a bit fey and was always talking about the strange things going on in the house. I took it with "a grain of salt", and decided she might be even stranger than I had thought.

The first incident began in the middle of a spring afternoon when she telephoned me, and asked a favor. She wanted some help in covering a chair in her basement. She was too short to reach over and pull the fabric and tack it in the back. I woke my napping toddler and went next door. Her toddler was also still very sleepy and they just sat on the carpet watching tv while we worked. Soon we were finished, and we heard the front door, upstairs open and steps were heard crossing the kitchen then on down the hall towards the bedrooms. I said that we needed to go home, that her husband was home and would be looking for his dinner soon. She said that he was on the road tonight and that no one was up there. That she had told me about the noises in that house, and if I thought he had come home I was welcome to go up and look. I did, and she was right. No one else was in that house! I even looked in the closets. I had heard those footsteps right above my head while I was in the basement!

Time passed and as Thanksgiving approached we decided to have everyone at our house, now that we had lots of room. Our neighbors were going to Kansas City to visit their family and insisted that they leave their house keys with us in case I needed extra refrigerator space or another oven. And as it turned out I did need their kitchen because in the middle of my big dinner preparations I blew a fuse and my then-husband knew nothing what-so-ever about things like that. I transferred my turkey to their oven, but I am getting ahead of myself. The one thing they asked of me is to make sure their silly little dog Modang,(named so because he was more dang trouble than ten dogs should be)did not get out of the half bath, behind the front door where they penned him up when they left him home.

Every time I went to check the turkey, that dog set up a fuss, he scratched the door and he whined. He barked and he yelped but I knew if I opened that door I would never catch him. When all of my company started to arrive my uncle and my dad quickly fixed the fuses and all of my female relatives trooped over to the house next door with me to retrieve the feast in the oven. The dog really set up a fuss with strangers in his house. We could all see his little black feet dancing through the crack under the door, but I did not let him out.

My company had all started out for home by 4pm, and about eight o’clock in the evening here came the neighbors to get their keys so they could get into their house. The first thing they asked was did we have any trouble when I told them it was a good thing they left the keys. I told them no, I had no trouble, but that I would have if I had let Modang out, and he sure wanted out of that bathroom. They looked at each other and both said in unison, "But Caro, Modang went with us today"! Before Spring we had a party. A big snow was on the ground. It may have been New Years, I just don't remember. I had a very strict rule about my children being out of the house if there was going to be alcohol served. We arranged for our babysitter to stay over next door and everyone who brought kids would take them over there. Our babysitter loved to do that because we insisted that everyone pay her. Of course we did not tell her about the things happening in the house. Nothing undue happened to her or the kids. When we went over to retrieve our kids we asked her if everything went alright. She said yes, except for that big dog in the yard who looked in the window at her all evening. She said she should have called us to see if the dog got to come in the house. Linnie flipped the switch that turned on flood lights across the whole yard. There was not one dog footprint on the whole lawn. Modang was the only dog they ever had and he was in his bathroom, as usual.

Their youngest child got into some medicine of her mothers and she ended up in the hospital for no one knew what was wrong with her. The grandparents were staying with the older child so they could get her off to school. I went over there early to see if I could take her to school with my child and they could go on to the hospital. No one was there. Come to find out they left for a motel in the middle of the night when their bed covers were jerked off from the foot of the bed.

There were many other things happening, great loud bursts of orchestra music in the dead of the night. No stereo was turned on by a toddler who woke up and was wandering. They didn’t have a stereo. There were other things, too, and I finally realized she wasn’t just spooky about staying alone. To think I could have lived there, but would I have wanted to? I still haven't decided and it has been almost 40 years ago.

Visitor In The Night

I was laying in my room, looking out my window when I heard a crash in the hallway but didn't pay any attention to it, just thinking that my little sister opened her door a little to hard. I then awoke to what seemed to be a banging noise in my room and I opened my eyes and looked around and found a photo of my Grandpapa holding me as a baby, on the floor next to my bed. I didn't know how it got there, so I put it back and went back to sleep. I woke up the next morning to find that the photo was laying on my pillow. It was a really interesting thing that happened to me. I believe that my Grandpapa was trying to talk to me...Later my Mama told me that she too heard the crashing in the hall as well..and it wasn't my sister.

Creaking Rocking Chair

One morning after I got up and headed to the kitchen to make some tea, I saw that our older daughter was already up and watching TV in the family room. She asked me how long I had been up and I told her for just a few minutes. She said you weren't up about a half hour ago rocking in the rocking chair? I said No. She replied that she had laid in her bed and heard it creaking for a long time, as if someone was sitting in it rocking, but, when she got up, the rest of the household was still asleep. We thought it was real odd, but, just went about our usual morning routines. Soon after, the phone rang. It was my cousin in England calling me in Oregon to tell me that our Grandmother had passed away about an hour ago, which would have been the time my daughter was hearing the creaking of our rocking chair. It would be just like my Grandma to have her spirit, as it passed on, to stop by our house for awhile to say "Goodbye" but she found all of us to still be sleeping. So maybe she sat and rocked for a while, just as we had sat in front of her fireplace while visiting her in England, in 2 rocking chairs she had facing the fire, while we drank our tea together.

Old Man Floating By

Our family has experienced several ghostly happenings over the years, living in various places. This happened after we moved back home to Oregon. When our daughter was about 3 or 4 years old, she had a favorite remote control Monster Truck toy. She was the first one up one Saturday morning and as I stayed in bed a bit longer, I could hear her in our living room watching cartoons and playing with her Monster Truck. Suddenly, I could hear her little footsteps running down the hall to her bedroom and then I thought I heard her whimpering. It alarmed me, so I got up, meeting our oldest daughter in the hallway, who had also heard this and got up to check on things too. We entered our daughters bedroom to find her in bed hiding under her covers, whimpering and crying. We kept asking her what was wrong...and finally got her to uncover and talk to us. She said as she was quietly playing in the family room, she looked out towards the dining room and could see an old man "floating" by going towards the kitchen. She said he wore "old fashioned" clothing and had no feet. She kept saying how quiet she kept until he got into the kitchen because she was afraid if she made any noises, he would then turn to look at her and she didn't want that. She said it looked like he might not have a face. We had no reason not to believe her story because she had always been a very mature little girl, never one to make up stories like this before or since. And we could tell how genuinely frightened she was!

Voices

When I was 18 me and my family moved in a little town our house is on top of a cemetery. Though I don't think the house is haunted by a specific ghost there has been weird activities. In the first 6 months especially. When we first moved in a light bulb fell onto my mom, the thing was we don't know where it came from. Probably one of the most scariest events happened to her. She was alone on evening exercising in our sub-basement when she heard the phone ring. The exercise room is one of the only rooms in the house without a phone. At the same time she heard my father come in the house yelling and swearing, he hates to answer the phone when he gets home from work or at anythime. Well my mom figured he could get it, so she continued her workout. When she was done she went upstairs to see that my dad was not home. She thought nothing of it, he might have went to the gas station or something. When he finally arrived she asked where he went, he replied that he just got home. She started crying and told him what had happened. We still don't know why the voice sounded so angry, but we do know whatever it was it wanted us to know something was there.

Many other things happened since living here, like doors opening and closing by themselves. Whatever or whoever it is, we still don't think it's bad. We feel very safe here as if something's here to make it safe. At the beginning it was testing us to see if we would leave and we didn't. Sometimes the living have to share with the dead.

Star Hill

I'll start off by saying what happened at Star Hill, located in Steuben, New York. In the 70's, a jealous boyfriend tied his girlfriend to the back of his pick up truck and dragged her down Star Hill Road, which is in the middle of the woods, and it's a dirt path. Located on this road is a cemetery, and one house all the way at the end, where the girl's father lives alone. Well, basically, the girl died and she continues to haunt this road...A few years back, the night before my senior prom, me and 6 other friends went up there with a video camera. As we were driving on this road, which you could only go 5 mph, it felt like there was something underneath the car, like we were dragging something...and a scraping noise the whole time, even though there was nothing in the road. We stopped the car at the cemetery, to get out and film some of the head stones...when we went to get back in the car, we all felt as if someone were watching us. We turned around and yes, we caught this on tape, we saw a white smoky figure walk into the woods, then it disappeared. At the time, it was starting to get dark, and we also saw "balls of light" in the woods...A few of them flashed in front of the windshield as we were driving...

It's also known that the father of the girl still lives on this road, and sits outside with a shot gun...but I don't know what he's waiting for...We always turn around at least a good mile before we hit the house...Also on the video tape, you can see orbs in the cemetery...Noises that we didn't hear personally...Not talking, but more or less whispers and short noises...It's pretty scary, but we still continue to go up there to this day...It's interesting. Something always happens.

Also, back in the day, my Dad's friend's mother died. He gave her tv to my dad, which in turn gave to me. There was something wrong in the cord, where if you didn't unplug it, it would turn on randomly. A few months after I had it, I went to bed, and made sure I unplugged it, like I did every night. About 2 AM, the tv turned on full blast. And there wasn't a show on, it was that static noise, a blank channel...It freaked me out, cuz I knew I unplugged it. I got out of bed, and checked it... it was unplugged. I screamed for my father to come in the room, and when he came in, I told him to look at the cord. He couldn't believe it. My family has always been around supernatural stuff, and we have all experienced stuff...needless to say, I took that tv out of my room, and it ended up on the front lawn on garbage night. If anybody came and scooped it up, I don't know. But I do know if anybody did, they're gonna get a good scare!!

There was also a time when I was young, my parents had just bought their house, and we had just moved in. I have 4 brothers, but only 2 of them were home with me. My parents were off to work (It was in July, we were out of school) I was up in my new bedroom, setting my room up, when the handle on my door started rattling. I said, come in...then it started to turn rapidly, as if the door was locked and someone was trying to get in...but there was no lock on my door. I thought it was one of my brothers playing a joke on me, so I got up and opened the door. As soon as I did, I felt a rush of cold air hit my face...but I was still convinced that it was my brother. So, I checked all 3 other bedrooms for one of them. Nobody was upstairs but me. I went downstairs, and all 3 of them were playing Nintendo...Needless to say I was scared out of my mind to be upstairs alone...

I'll keep my experiences coming...and when I have the time, I'll write them all out....

Stop It!

One evening, a few years ago, I was in the kitchen washing dishes. I had been talking to my parents while I was doing this. They finally walked out of the room and I continued to finish cleaning up. I began wiping down the stove when all of a sudden I felt someone push me from behind (I actually moved forward from the push). Thinking it was my Dad, I began to laugh and turned around to tell him to stop it but, there was no one there. I went looking for my parents to see what they were doing and they were sitting in the living room watching T.V. When I asked if they had just been in the kitchen, they said no. From then on we decided to call the ghost Sam. Now every time something happens in the house, we blame it on Sam.

The Break-in/The Follower

This happened about 2 months ago. I was visiting my neighbor the next house down one night and we were partying. The party led to my porch as I told them I would be right back with a few beers. I ended up falling asleep on the couch instead. Only to be awakened by a strange feeling in my chest. At the same time the doorknob on my front door was turning violently. Confusingly, every time the doorknob turned I could feel my chest cringing like it was reacting to the twisting of the doorknob. I was trying to move at that time and I couldn’t get up. Everything was gloomy to me and I couldn’t tell whether or not I was asleep. Finally, the constant banging and twisting on the door, it slammed open with a force that shook the very foundations of my apartment. To my surprise no one was on the receiving end. I could move my head a little and managed to check the door. (This was easy since my couch laid about 2 feet from the door itself.) Out of the corner of my eye a tall dark figure caught my attention near the window. But as soon as I could blink and tilt my head in that direction it had come within inches of my couch and me, leaving me paralyzed from the eyelids down. I yelled out Jesus and for some strange reason I was able to move again.

I told my neighbor about the incident the next day and he just laughed at me and told me that I was wasted. I told him that I had never seen an image without a face before, and yet I could tell it was smiling at me. It looked like a huge dark colored blanket covered his entire body. I said dark colored because when I looked at it, it came in all sorts of different hues that seemed to fuse together. Well anyway didn’t agree with him and told my neighbor that a demon of some kind had broken into my house. He said that it was impossible because after I had left they stayed on my porch for hours and he locked the downstairs door before he went to bed. The next night as I lay on my same exact couch. My chest started hurting again. I could hear the doorknob twisting and the sound of someone chipping the wood from under the locks. My heart stood still for seconds that seemed like hours. The door slammed open loudly and I jumped up drastically. It was my roommate coming in drunk 3:00 in the morning and had forgotten his key. It really scared my neighbor because I told him the exact same thing the night before. But it scares me to this day because I know what came in that night, and it is in my old apartment. Yes, old. I moved out soon after that due to the fact that I have seen strange abnormal things all my life and am tired of nobody believing me. I have had experiences all my life, it is real, someone please believe me. That figure I have seen about 10 or 11 times in my entire life and I am 25. I first saw it the night after my mother died. I don’t know who or what is after me, if it is dead or ever was alive. I just want to know if it has followed me, EVEN AFTER I MOVED OUT OF THE STATE.

My Great Great-Grandmother

About 22 or 23 years ago my aunt was in bed w/ her husband and she felt someone grab and pull her hair. She rolled over and slapped her husband. He asked why she did that and he said he didn't do anything. Then as she rolled over she saw a flashlight-shaped light on her wall and floor. Then their hall closet door handle started to jiggle. By this point she was so scared she called her mom and told her what had happened. When she got there she opened the closet door and got ice-cold and had a chill up her back but she ignored it and told her granny to stop it because she was scaring them. It never happened again but she didn't care, she moved.

Casey

I have several ghost stories but I will only share one at this time. When my daughter was 3 she claimed to have a friend named Casey, a name she has never heard. So I assumed she had a imaginary friend. She would go in her room and have real conversations as if she was talking to someone. One day she told me that her friend Casey had died. One day while I was changing her clothes she was eating an apple and held it up and asked her friend if she wanted a bite. I didn’t think much of it. About a week later she came to me and said, Mommy, Casey died she got ran over by a car. I started asking her questions like does she eat, my daughter replied no. So I asked if she comes out of her room she replied no, she said she lives there. About 1 month later my daughter came to me and said, Mommy Casey has gone home. She is 8 now and does not remember Casey.

Spooky

About 4 years ago my little sister died. Now my Nan keeps on hearing things and stuff keeps moving. Always at Christmas my Nan and Grandad put wrapping paper around the stand of the Christmas tree. Well they had a key hanging by the front door, and one night they were going out and my Grandad went to get the key and they couldn’t find the key. When it come time to take the Christmas tree down they found the key. Another thing happened not long ago. Me, my Mum, my 2 sisters, my 3 cousins and my Auntie went up to Lincolnshire to see my Auntie because she just had a baby. Well when we were packing the car to take some stuff up there, I noticed that the battery cover wasn't on the electric swing. So my Mum checked all over the swing and when we got to my Aunties it was just laying on top of it. And we know full well that it weren’t on there when we left.

The Ghost Story

Well, I lived in London, Ontario for three years. And one time, I was lying awake at night, my pillow underneath my head. I was sitting face-up, and my head was getting uncomfortable on my pillow. I lifted my head up, to reposition the pillow. But as I had my head up, I looked over to the window, and I saw a dark figure through the glass. I could only make out the basic figure, though. As soon as I saw him, he floated away out of sight. Now, you might think “isn't it obvious, it was a burglar.” But here's the thing, my room is on the second floor. And unless he walked sideways right off of it air, he didn't use a ladder. I was so scared I hardly slept that night.

Thank you

Knocking On The Window

This incident happened a few years ago when I was living in my grandmas house.

Well it was late at night and I was laying in bed like any other normal person would be. My bed is directly next to the window. Well anyways, my grandma is a big woman and she has really curly hair. As I was drifting off to sleep I heard a soft tapping on the window and I looked to see the silhouette of my grandmother outside my window. She kept telling me "Lena, let me in." She repeated this over and over again. I was still sort of sleepy so it took me a while before I got out of bed and went to the back door to open it for her. I could still hear her telling me to open the door, when all of a sudden my aunt screamed at me from behind. "What are you doing?" I told her that I was going to let grandma in cause she was outside in the dark. My aunt then informed me that my grandma was sleeping. I couldn't believe it so I asked her to come with me to my grandmas room to check. Sure enough there was my grandma soundly sleeping with my grandpa. I realized that I was about to let in an evil spirit outside. Chills ran up and down my spine and I couldn't sleep for days. That was truly a scary moment.

Haunted Boat House

Hi, my name is Cindy and this is my story, I was working at a girl scout camp last summer and one of my jobs was to clean the boat house. So I was at the boat house around 5:00 and the sun was starting to go down. So I was there by myself and I was almost done cleaning, when I heard a noise in the back room. I thought it was one of the girls out of their beds, so I headed to the back room. I opened the door and poked my head in and said, "Is anyone in here?" I waited for a reply, but I didn't get one. As I was about to shut the door I saw something move in the corner. My heart started to race, I quickly shut the door and walked away from the door. I pulled out my cell phone, it was 5:30. My mom wasn’t going to be at the boat house until 6:00. I tried to call her, but the boat house was all the way down by the lake in the woods, and I didn't get reception. So I sat out side the boat house constantly looking behind me. It was getting windy and I remembered I had brought a coat with me. I looked around, but couldn’t find it. Then I realized I left it in the boat house. I thought about just leaving it, but then convinced myself that there was nothing to be afraid of. So I took a deep breath and went into the boat house. I saw my coat on the floor in the corner, I headed over to it. Just as I bent down to pick it up, something moved in the corner behind me. I became paralyzed with fear, I could feel it's eyes on me, watching my every move. I grabbed my jacket and quickly spun around. There was a little girl standing there in the corner. I gasped then sighed with relief. "What are you doing out of bed?" I asked. The little girl just stared at me. For some reason, this little girl gave me the creeps, she was in a little dress and looked so lost and sad. "Do you even go to camp here?" I asked. The girl just stared at me. Her eyes looked so empty and I found it hard to look at her. As I was standing there I was going through all the girls at camp in my head and I could not picture her face in any camp. "Are you lost?" I asked. She nodded her head. I was glad that at least she was responding to me. I took out my cell phone and looked at the time it was 5:56. My mom would be here soon. I looked up and the little girl was gone. I spun around and could not find her. She couldn't have left because the door was still closed and it always made a noise when it opened. I ran outside and saw her walking down towards the lake. I yelled to her. She looked back at me with a face that still haunts me to this day. She let out a terrible screech and disappeared. I stood there unable to move. I could not believe that I had just saw a ghost. My mom pulled in behind me, when I got in the car my mom saw the look on my face and immediately asked me what was wrong. When I told her what had happened she just said that I need to stop watching scary movies. I will never forget what happened that day and how it has impacted my life.

Granny

From the day my granny died she has been giving my family signs. Like my grandma, she records the paranormal and she caught my deceased granny three times. The first one said" Debbie I am going away". and the second time me and my sister were over at my grandma’s and she was recording and me and my sister were being loud and when we played the tape back we heard her say "shutup you little kids.'' and the third time my granny said I love you, far away. And after she died in the hospital me and my grandma were asking her for a sign and all of a sudden our lights came on while we were in the car. I have also had contact with her. Just about in May of this year my mom gave me a cell phone and one day I got a strange call. It said "unknown" so I picked up the phone and I said hello and all of a sudden I heard water and someone trying to talk but I couldn't understand it so I said hello about a hundred times then I hung up. After a few minutes I tried to call it back, and my phone didn't do it so I called another number and it worked so I called the unknown number a few more times and it didn't get a reach of it and I never got that phone call again.

Ghost Hunting Guide to the Oregon Coast

The winds cut deeper and make progressively louder noises as the days shorten. Fog creeps in from the sea more often. And then Halloween shows up, as if to really remind us about things otherworldly. It's no wonder Oregon's northern coast has a load of ghostly tales swirling about. It's no wonder the remake of "The Fog" currently in release is set in a fictional North Oregon Coast town. From flying pots and specters who've moved from one building to another in Seaside, the ghostly legends of a hotel in the Nehalem Bay, to the myriad of hauntings in ancient Astoria - there's plenty for the ghost-hunting tourist in this pristine and stunning area.

SLEEPLESS IN SEASIDE

Tales of things creepy abound in Seaside - but they're hard to find. It's almost as if they've been swept under the carpet.

For almost 100 years, the old Hotel Seaside (later named The Seasider) was a grandiose, beautiful building that was a sort of centerpiece to Seaside, at the Turnaround. So it's no surprise that place acquired tales of apparitions and otherworldly guests over the years. There were numerous spirits that purportedly haunted it.

These days, the Shilo Inn sits in that spot. But when the old hotel was torn down, the spooks moved to Girtle's Restaurant, just down the street on Broadway, according to owner Bob Girtle. He recounted numerous stories of otherworldly happenings in the restaurant, having seen them himself or coming from various employees who tell their own tales. They talk of seeing the mysterious shadows of feet walking behind the door of a closed-off area of the kitchen, visible from the small space between the floor and the door. This happens when it's not possible anyone else is in there, say Bob and his crew. They don't even check that room anymore when they see the shadows.

Then there is the notorious flying coffee pot in the galley area between the kitchen and the main dining room. Bob and others on his staff have experienced this more than once. Sometimes it moves a bit, others it literally flies across the hallway.

Bob said he inherited some employees of the old Seasider back in the 80's, and at least one said they saw some of the same ghosts.

John Sowa, owner of the New Orleans-style eatery Lil' Bayou, also related tales of moving objects in the kitchen and a strange sense of someone being near him while alone in his office. Kitchen utensils are found in different places than employees have left them, or an object suddenly falls off a hook or a shelf.

Lil' Bayou lies in the historic Gilbert District of Seaside, which is filled with old buildings, almost all with upstairs areas that are often unused. The charming, atmospheric area has gone through a rebirth in recent years, and often there are whispers of ghosts coinciding with many of the renewed buildings.

The Seaside Aquarium may have a closet containing something - or rather, an upstairs that could be haunted. When the building was a natatorium back about 80 years ago, there were apartments at the top floor. That area isn't used much at all now, but manager Keith Chandler says he's heard whispers over the years the top floor is haunted. Various stories have been handed down over the years about noises coming from there.

EERIE AND NOT-SO-EERIE ON THE BAY

Manzanita, which caps the north end of the Nehalem Bay, is shrouded in mists and mystery, with Neahkahnie Mountain looming overhead and legends of a galleon and its buried treasures. Some versions of that tale contain atrocities, like purportedly burying their African slaves alive with the treasure to keep the natives away.

On its beaches, there are mysterious piles of rocks that have appeared over the years, apparently overnight. Sometimes they appear as single piles or stacks. No one has ever figured out who is responsible, creating speculation of an otherworldly artist.

In nearby Wheeler, facing the Nehalem Bay, Old Wheeler Hotel owner Winston Laszlo says he's encountered several things in that old building he couldn't really explain. Sometimes, he said, he believes he sees someone in the corner of his eye, only to discover there's no one there.

Once, Winston was looking in a mirror in the hotel's public area and saw the reflection of a man sitting in a chair behind him. Winston says he turned around to look at the man, whom he didn't recognize as a guest, and there was no one there.

A pair of ghost hunters even came to the visit the place and took photos of what they believed could be "spirit orbs" just outside the basement area. Winston still has copies of these.

Winston and wife Maranne Doyle-Laszlo say the entire building seemed to be against them during the process of remodeling the ragged old construct into the first-rate hotel it is now. They had a nagging feeling a presence seemed to arrange one disaster and setback after another, such as when a window blew out in a storm. Then, one day, they say the building seemed to accept them, and reconstruction proceeded smoothly thereafter. (www.oldwheelerhotel.com. 877-653-4683.)

In an email just before her visit, ghost hunter Martina DeLude told Winston that made sense. "Ghosts that haunt residential and business locations become very threatened when someone starts changing things that they are accustomed to. Some spirits actually become incensed when furniture is moved around. Just like the living, most spirits do not like change. Possibly, as soon as they realized that it was once again going to become a hotel - perhaps something they may remember - they decided to help you along instead of stifling your efforts." There's more on their investigation of the Old Wheeler Hotel at http://www.nwpprs.com/Investigations/Places02/OldWheeler.html.

In other tales, Wheeler Antiques owner Garry Gitzen says a Wheeler woman, descended from local tribes, actually burned down her own house in recent years because disturbing spirits haunted it. She did this in lieu of tearing the thing down, never rebuilding it, with rumors floating about that Native American children had died in a fire in that spot in ancient times.

Not all is creepy here. According to Winston and Garry, there is a host of well-meaning spirits there known as the "Good Spirits of Wheeler," and Ekahni Books owner Peg Miller says the place is a sort of "spiritual vortex lite." They all point to something they call a "Wheeler Moment," where serendipity seems to suddenly rear its head. Locals talk of numerous circumstances where pleasant, happy coincidences popped up, assisting folks in some way. They all note various incidents where someone is discussing wanting to do something, and someone or some opportunity arises that helps things along - like the time the Garry and Winston were talking about creating a film festival, and they discovered a documentary filmmaker was staying in town.

ASTORIA - OR GHOSTORIA?

At the very tip of Oregon, Astoria is full of major ghost stories of one sort or another. That's no surprise, considering it's the oldest settlement west of the Mississippi.

The Liberty Theater is widely regarded as haunted. It was once a haven for the likes of Duke Ellington, Jack Benny, Guy Lombardo and supposedly even gangster Al Capone. Purportedly, it's also occupied by someone named Paul. One employee was quoted as saying that Paul is "quite handsome," giving him the nickname Handsome Paul. He apparently wears a "white tuxedo and a panama hat," according to the Clatsop County Historical Society.

Cast and crews over the years have talked about spotting him. While mostly just an apparition, he's been known to slam doors and make other unruly noises. Other tales from the theater include objects gliding through the air, knobs unscrewing themselves from appliances and utilities, as well as two or three other inhabitants from beyond.

Also famous for being haunted is the firehouse there, plus the town has a brutal history of men being "shanghaied" in the early part of the century.

Grandfather

My grandfather passed away June 11, 2005.. My husband and I were sitting with my stepmom and grandmother at church one Sunday last month and we were all opening up our bulletins while waiting for the Pastor to start on the announcements. All the bulletins have the date printed at the top of them and then has the list of readers, counters, greeters, etc... well only in my stepmom's, there was an insert from 2003 and it had my grandfather listed as one of the readers. No one knows how or why an insert from 2 years ago ended up only in her bulletin. People say that it was his way of letting us know that he is still around.

Ghost Bound

My sister and her husband live in Toronto and their house is haunted. There have been a few incidences that have happened over the years they have been there. One incident was when I stayed there for a few days, I was sleeping and heard someone fall down the stairs. I was terrified, knowing everyone was asleep. The next morning I asked my sister if she heard anything, she said no and then she said a woman fell down the stairs and died of her injuries. The last incident happened in July of this year. I was there visiting and was watching tv, I heard someone walk down the stairs, and go into the bathroom and wash their hands then walk up the stairs, I turned around and saw no one. I went and asked my brother-in-law if he went down stairs and he said he was upstairs all along. I told him what happened and he told me he was not surprised about what I said because there have been strange things happening in that house all the time, this house I believe is bad luck and they are planning on moving sometime next year.
