TSU Linebacker Finalist for National Award

Houston, TX - - Texas Southern University Junior linebacker Lernard Mack was named one of 18 finalists for the "Buck" Buchanan award given to the top defender in Division I-AA. The Houston, Texas native ranks first in the SWAC and second in the nation with 114 tackles. Currently, Mack leads the nation in tackles for loss with 31. Mack was named 2000 SWAC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year and added a career-high 20 tackles against Grambling. He has reached double figures in tackles in six of ten games and has five sacks on the season.
