Texas Southern vs. Prairie View A&M

Houston, Texas — Adam Lamb ran for three touchdowns and passed for another, leading Texas Southern (1-0, 1-0) to a 42-0 victory over Prairie View A&M (0-1, 0-1) Saturday night.

Lamb threw for 259 yards and rushed for 62 while the Texas Southern defense held Prairie View to minus-24 yards on the ground.

Herbert Winston was on the receiving end of the Lamb TD pass, which came in the third quarter. Texas Southern, which scored in all four periods, also got a touchdown pass from Julius Davis to Mike Davis and two field goals from J.B. Lacombe.

Jamaal Foster had 133 yards passing for Prairie View, but he was only 6-of-23 through the air and was sacked five times. Marcus Ballard was on the receiving end of four throws for 93 yards.

The TSU defense opened the scoring with a sack on a botched punt attempt for a safety. TSU's new spread offense, led by Lamb accounted for five touchdowns. "I started off a little shaky tonight, but I knew in time, I would be allright" Lamb said.

A staunch Tiger defense, held PV scoreless for the second straight meeting. Junior linebacker Lernard Mack finished the evening with six tackles, 3 for losses and one sack to lead a balanced TSU defense.

TSU head coach Bill Thomas was pleased with the defensive effort. "Any time you can shut somebody out, it is a great job."

TSU travels to Jackson, Mississippi for an early-season showdown with Jackson State 4 p.m., Saturday, September 9. "We have a lot of work to do to get ready for Jackson State," Thomas said. "We have to grow every day, every play and every practice session to get better.
