Rick Holden begins his 15th year as a member of the Texas Southern University athletics department and his eleventh year as Senior Athletics Director.

Holden's primary responsibilities include the oversight and management of the fiscal and business operations of the athletics department. He is also responsible for issuing athletic aid to student athletes and securing playing venues for off campus athletic events when TSU is the host team. 

A Jacksonville, Florida native, Holden received his bachelor's (1971) and master's (1973) degrees from Texas Southern University. Holden was a four-year letterman in football and began coaching football in the late 1970's, and continued into the early 1980's. In addition to his duties as an athletic administrator, Holden is a professor in the Department of Health and Kinesiology.

Holden is married to the former Miss TSU, Tanya Lott. Together they have two sons, Byron and William, and a daughter, Teal.
