Southeastern Caribbean
Bird Alert
The Southeastern Caribbean Bird Alert is
published weekly on the Trinidad and Tobago Field Naturalists' Club website, and is also
available via email. Its aim is to promote birding and ornithology in the southeastern
Caribbean by fostering communication among resident and visiting birders.
Many rarities from Trinidad and Tobago that have
been reported in the SCBA have not been reported to the Trinidad and Tobago Rare Bird
Committee (TTRBC).
The primary functions of the TTRBC are
1. to ascertain which records of rare birds in
Trinidad and Tobago are acceptable beyond reasonable doubt
2. to publish periodic reports on TTRBC
decisions
3. to maintain an official list of the birds of
Trinidad and Tobago.
The TTRBC cannot consider records that are not
submitted- even if the observer has communicated his/her sightings to the Southern
Caribbean Bird Alert (SCBA). Indeed the SCBA is a tool for communication and does not
function as a means of reporting or verifying records.
The table below indicates all species reported
in the SCBA which are on the TTRBC rare bird list, but for which we have received no
official reports. Recipients of the SCBA who have made these observations are urged
to fill out the report form so that the records may be
considered.
Forms may be submitted to the secretary, TTRBC.
