The Terrapin Times NEWSFLASH:

John Allen Muhammad Guilty on All Counts

by NATHAN BURCHFIEL The Terrapin Times Layout Editor

The jury in the Virginia Beach, Va. trial of sniper John Allen Muhammad handed down guilty verdicts on all counts early this afternoon.

Among Muhammad’s convictions are two capital charges.  In the state of Virginia, those convictions can possibly carry the death penalty.

Lee Boyd Malvo, who was allegedly the trigger-man for Muhammad’s rampage, is currently on trial in Virginia for the same crimes.  The verdicts in the Muhammad case, one of which convicts Muhammad of brainwashing Malvo, will not be admissible in the Malvo trial.

American Ideals:

Participating in Local Government

The American Ideal to vote is not just for President but for local officials, city councilmen, judges, county officials, and more. Many of us do not take the time to care about issues that affect us the most - the issues on the local and city level.

SCAN PAC

From SCAN

SCAN is a bipartisan organization that advocates on behalf of public higher education in the State of Maryland.  SCAN doesn’t blame Republicans or Democrats for the attack on the USM, we simply want to see the leadership of the State of Maryland make public higher education a priority again.

By Drew Vetter

SGA Vice President of Student Affairs

Our Take

SCAN Pac is a great idea, but one is left wondering if it will truly be bipartisan?  So far, it has only shown to be a continuation of Tim Daly’s attacks upon Governor Ehrlich, touting the Democrat line to close corporate loopholes.

GUEST EDITORIAL - This Is Our City

We, as students, need to support our mayor and our student-friendly council members and we must actively protest those that obstruct our vision of College Park – a great city that caters to its long time residence AND its students. We must get a police force. The Council can argue cost, but until we overhaul our public safety administration, crime will continue to plague this city.
