********What I Have To Say About The Great Maestro********

I am a great admirer of Jagjit Singh and I don't remember since when. From my childhood days I am listening to his ghazals and somehow I always find that I am being able to relate myself with his ghazals and music. It's not that I used to understand the lyrics of the ghazals that he sung because the ghazals are generally sung in Urdu. Urdu is known as a poetic language and the language is very rich and flowery. But somehow I always liked the way of presentation of his ghazals and soon found that I am being able to understand a bit of the language as well. Just like I eat, sleep I make it a point to listen to him everyday whenever I get some time. Call it passion, weirdness, craziness, foolishness, eeriness or simply an obsession but then I am like this and then who is not obsessed like me about anything or anybody they love??

Jagjit Singh sings ghazals as naturally as  a human breathes. We can't think of him without his ghazals. His voice is so magical, full of immeasurable possibilities. His Ghazals bring out his elegant, sophisticated and quiet educated  yet impressive personality. His ghazals do a wonderful job of delivering tranquility , passion, serenity, pain, deepness, grief, sorrow, love and a reminder of one's own personal past which appeals us.  I loved him in almost all of his albums and songs however there are few of the ghazals that is very near and dear to me and I listen to them almost everyday.

The greatest advantage of his ghazals are  that the new generation youths can very well identify themselves with the  lyrics  and the music of his ghazals. His music gives a total different and unique look to all his ghazals that he sings. That's why  even today whenever  his new cassettes are released we find the songs hitting the top charts of all the music channels and the sales record of his cassettes are quite incredible. Even in this age of pop music and rap music  and so called Bhangras which swaps the whole nation and where Indian music is slowly and steadily loosing her own identity it does not make any difference to his popularity. He is still able to communicate with his fans through his music and is able to survive in this new world of degenerated culture..  With due respect to all his contemporary ghazal singers like  Mehendi Hassan, Ghulam Ali and of recent times Pankaj Uddas we don't mind calling him the "King Of Ghazals" if not the " Ultimate Emperor of Ghazal". He is simply the BEST
