Bhudda Teaches

Heedfulness is the way to the Deathless,
Heedlessness is the way to death.
The heedful do not die,
The heedless are like unto the dead.

ความไม่ประมาท เป็นทางไปสู่อมตะ
ความประมาท เป็นทางไปสู่ความตาย
ผู้ไม่ประมาท ไม่มีวันตาย
ผู้ประมาท (ถึงมีชีวิตอยู่) ก็เหมือนคนตายแล้ว

The good shine from far away
Just as the Himalayan peaks.
The wicked are not seen, though near,
Just as an arrow shot at night.

คนดี ย่อมปรากฏเด่นเหมือนภูเขาหิมพานต์
คนไม่ดี ถึงอยู่ใกล้ ก็ไม่ปรากฏ
เหมือนลูกศรที่เขายิงไปในราตรีฉะนั้น

Exerting oneself in what should be shunned,
Not exerting where one should exert,
Rejecting the good and grasping at the pleasent,
One comes to envy those who exert themselves.

พยายามในสิ่งที่ไม่ควรพยายาม
ไม่พยายามในสิ่งที่ควรพยายาม
ละเลยสิ่งที่เป็นประโยชน์ ติดอยู่ในปิยารมณ์
คนเช่นนี้ก็ได้แต่ริษยาผู้ที่พยายามช่วยตัวเอง

Happiness is virtue until old age.
Happiness is faith that firmly stands.
happiness is it to gain insight.
Happiness is it to commit no sin.

ศีลให้เกิดสุข ตราบเท่าชรา
ศรัทรา ที่ตั้งมั่นแล้ว ให้เกิดสุข
ปัญญา ได้มาแล้ว ให้เกิดสุข
การไม่ทำบาปทั้งหลาย ให้เกิดสุข

Easiness is the life of a shameless one.
Who is as bold as a crow,
A back-biting, a forward,
An arrogant and a corrupted one.

คนไร้ยางอาย กล้าเหมือนกา
ชอบทำลายผู้อื่นลับหลัง ชอบเอาหน้า
อวดดี มีพฤติกรรมสกปรก
คนเช่นนี้ เป็นอยู่ง่าย

When walking along this path,
You shall make an end of suffering.
This is the Way made known by me
When I had learned to remove all darts.

เมื่อเดินตามทางสายนี้ พวกเธอจักหมดทุกข์
ทางสายนี้ เราได้ชี้บอกไว้
หลังจากที่เราได้รู้วิธีถอนลูกศรคือ กิเลส
