The latter half of our Kentucky trip was spent in a campground at Cumberland Falls State Park. The mist of Cumberland Falls creates the magic of the moonbow, only visible on a clear night during a full moon. This unique phenomenon appears nowhere else in the Western Hemisphere! Most of us stayed up until one o'clock in the morning one night trying to catch sight of the moonbow but it was just too foggy.
On Saturday our group went white water rafting on the Cumberland River. What a blast!! We started out on the river just a rowing, then by the time we got down river and into the bigger rapids we were really rowing!
Outside of a little heat exhaustion and multiple bug bites, the trip was quite a success. The kids learned about carpentry, how to swing a hammer, and what a "T" and "header" means in construction terms.
At one point the guides decided to try to dump as many of us as they could. They succeeded as we lost everyone out of the raft. Thank goodness for life vests! After white water rafting we were picked up by a cruise boat and were treated to an evening cruise and dinner. That part was very relaxing…especially for the adults!
The kids really worked hard, made new friends, found out what it was like to really help those in need, and most of all got in touch with their Christian side!
