History

Turlin Moor Community Arts Project was the brainchild of Helene Moody. In the spring of 1999, she approached Neil Poulton, Community Liaison Officer for the estate of Turlin Moor, with the idea of running a short introduction to art course. After he agreed to aid this project, both with his time and in finding funding, Helene then contacted local artist Craig Seabright. He created an eight-session Intro to Art project that was attended by local residents. This resulted in an exhibition at the Turlin Moor Community Centre, as part of the Community Fun Day, in September 1999. A first exhibition for many in the group.

Since then, Helene and Craig have worked raising funds and encouraging people to have a go. There has been, with generous funding from Chase Manhattan Bank and the Borough of Poole, an after school "Art Club" and an Adult and Child (under fives) group .

In the last few months we have been able to obtain a computer for the Project's administration and website creation. This site has been designed and constructed free of charge for Turlin Moor Community Arts Project so that we can present the community galleries.

This is a space for residents and local artists who are connected with the project, have taken part in previous groups, or who simply wish to display their artwork to the world at large, for free.
